So, I've recently managed to get this dinky, ancient old 1988 game working on my computer, using DosBox under D.O.G. 1.53:

(Have to thank Adam Cadre, if he hadn't mentioned it in one of his posts I'd have never tried it.)
Based on some of the results it turned out and reading too much Fear, Loathing and Gumbo on the Campaign Trail '72 (That and Reds! are my favourite AH works so far), a scenario hatched itself:
What if the 1968 election was between Nixon and Johnson?
So, I'd like to ask: is anybody interested in a weird kind of Let's Play/alternate history/roleplay hybrid that would start from there and develop?
The thing could probably use more planning, but so far its structure looks something like this: for presidential elections, I'm going to use President Elect to simulate the results based on what input whoever is playing as the respective presidential candidates gives, though I'll probably have to "revise" a few of the results/consequences so that they line up more with historical events. (Not to mention account for the bizarroland past universe where Texas is a Democratic stronghold and California is solid Republican.) And in the period between presidential elections, it would be run as a "traditional" kind of RP.
(Alien Space Bats recommended I switch to President Forever + 2008 Primaries for the whole idea, but unfortunately, I found the game kind of mind-explodingly complicated. Worst of all, Forever doesn't allow for control over debates like Elect does. Silly as it is, I find myself having to stick with a ridiculously outdated political simulator for this.)
But first of all, I need to know if anybody else thinks this'd be a good idea.
