The Date is January 1st, 1950. Over the last 50 years, the world has been dramatically changed from the old order to the new. The old powers of Britain and France are in decline, losing their colonies around the world. Tensions between the new powers of the USA and the USSR are heating up with the Soviet development of the atom bomb and escalating tensions in the Korean Peninsula. Everybody is still recovering from the Second World War, and the UN headquarters has just been completed in New York City. How will you lead your nation in the coming years? How will history change?

A Couple of Other Notes:

Each real life day corresponds to Two Months. A new two months/day begins at 12:00AM EST. I am doing this to keep my sanity because I am fairly busy outside of NationStates.

As OP, I will be the UN Secretary-General. I’ll explain what happened of note in any nations not controlled by other people. For instance, if nobody is Cuba in July of 1953, my post will inform the nations of the world that a revolution began in that country. I plan to post historical events, and only if it makes sense that they should occur.

I need to see an RP sample before I accept you. If you don't have a good one, type me a paragraph.

USSR is also going to be a big challenge which is going to require a lot of work and some RP experience. Also, if you want to focus on growing communism's influence, a nation that has a historical communist revolt might be fun, such as Cuba or Vietnam.

Before 1950, Korea was recovering from colonialism and before that under colonialism. They were also a poor nation the whole time. I'll accept more weapons hidden from WWII and a more militant population but not an army that could defeat Americans and UN Forces without too much help. Edit your app.

-There will be 3 parties instead of 2: Partido Unión Comunista (Communist party and the smallest of the 3), Partido Conservador Colombiano (Traditionalist and Conservative, currently in power both in the legislative as well as the executive branches), Partido Liberal Colombiano (Liberal, head of the opposition, second strongest of the 3)
-Paramilitaries were not condemned by the law and widely used. Especially by the political parties. (I believe this is historically correct but not sure, so will put it here to set things clear.)
-The military had been in decline but was still strong enough to defend Colombia if needed.
-Economy much stronger than it was during that time-period, but still affected by the war and violence.

I'll give you a 10% increase in your GDP, you can choose if it's agriculture, industry or what not. I think that's an increase of about 4 Billion USD 1950s dollars total and roughly $200 Per Capita. You'll have to grow the economy IC if you want better than that.
