The day was just a normal day for the famous capitol of Britain. The weather was getting chilly, civilians were coming home from work, tourists were taking way too many photos, and the palace guards were still standing there, like statues.

It was perfect. Beautiful.

Then, a dictator in a universe no one even knew about decided it wasn't meant to be a normal day.

A large starship appeared in the sky. Thousands looked up in horror and confusion as millions of fighters poured out of the ship. Then, the fighters shot at the Big Ben clock tower.

It collapsed.

Panic erupted throughout the city. Civilians fled, an evacuation was ordered. The Queen, seemingly immortal up until then, was killed by a bomb. London burned...

And on the ship, an admiral smiled. It was good.

"How did you not detect this?" he asked an officer. "This base was dedicated to keeping Decline neutral."
"We don't know sir. We suspect some kind of clocking device."

He knew what he had to do.

"Alert all forces."
"Yes, sir."

SUBJECT: ATTACK ON DECLINE

Sir or Madam,
I don't know what's going on, or why, but Sadland has attacked Decline. This has to be addressed immediately. Please come to Homeline for a briefing in the Senate building.

There was to be no vote, for no vote was necessary. The Doomsday War had begun...

"Butler, hand me the magnetic scredriver." Artemis was dissecting a piece of fairy technology, while it was a hobby earlier in his life, it was now one of the most common things he did, ever since he was recruited by Happyland. Fairies had long ago done away with conventional screws, they now used smooth bolts made of magnetic materials, and used complex tools to coax the magnetic screws out of their sockets. Foaly, the centaur genius who had singlehandedly created at least 50% of conventional Fairy technology, could have created a thousand more efficient ways to make screws, but he kept the magnetic ones simply to spit Artemis, who he knew had been pilfering his technology for years. He unscrewed the lid of the computer piece, and started analyzing the wiring inside. He turned away from his studies when he noticed his phone was ringing. He and his elf acquaintance Holly had colour-coded their messages, and Artemis had adapted the system to his Happyland orders. The message was a deep blood red. He nodded and turned to Butler. "Butler, it looks like I am going on a little excursion. Don't bother packing: there will be allies to protect me, and you are needed here to "hold down the fort", so to speak."

Professor Layton was browsing his letters, idly sipping his tea, when he noticed a most peculiar address on one of the envelopes. Happyland always tried to not disrupt culture in other universes, and snail-mail was the best they could do in Professor Layton's universe. Reading over the letter, he quickly put on his coat and signature hat. He was worried for those in Decline, he was disappointed that Luke, who had moved far away, couldn't join him, but most of all, he was excited about this new mystery.

Arriving at the senate buildings in an alternate version of Professor Layton's time, he immediately spotted his rival, Artemis Fowl. Layton and Artemis had initially started out good friends, their respective geniuses bouncing off each other. However, after a heated discussion about the ethics of time travel, they had developed a grudge against one another. Since then, it had dissapated into a friendly rivalry: neither a prodigy like Artemis nor a gentleman like Layton could hate another for more than a little time. When they saw each other materialize they simply nodded, and headed into the building.

Gulcasa marches trough the streets of London, the 'general' of Sadland a little worried. He sent comunication of the attack to the Happyland command center, but even he didn't know how they pulled it out cloaking themselves.
Whoever was in command of the expedition, was clearly too goo and he had to discover his name.
