And one of those limits was thought to have been that a person could not teleport into another dimension.
Around the turn of the 18th century, this theory was growing to common acceptance, however, as usual, there is a monkeywrench that gets dramatically thrown into the works.
In this case, the monkeywrench is the story of MythiKa.
The facts: Alexis Ka Maren, better known as MythiKa, was the greatest witch of her day. Born in May 1661, she traveled Earth as a 'healer from the shadows' - whenever she happened upon an injured being, she always did her best to heal them. Despite being a healer, though, MythiKa was also formidable in battle, easily destroying those that sought a piece of her power. According to historic records, she died on April 22, 1717. But her coffin is empty.
The legend: MythiKa survives, but in some other world. In her later years, MythiKa appeared to be on the verge of a discovery that would shake magic to its roots. Many took her words about the existence of worlds beyond Earth as the misguided ramblings of an eccentric. But could there be a grain of truth to the 'eccentric ramblings' of MythiKa?
Jump forward to the present day - October 31, 2012. If MythiKa is alive, she would be 351 years old. Even so, her name has become a magical urban legend - no trace of MythiKa has ever been found, nor were there signs of a struggle.
A battle at Stonehenge would provide the answer. Several great wizards would find themselves pitted against each other in battle, only to find that, despite their differences, they would have to work together to free themselves from the Seven Realms, and perhaps solve the greatest magical mystery of all time...
Good morning, NationStates and P2TM. I've spent some time working on this idea, and hope it's to your liking. MythiKa draws elements from several of my previous RPs, including Oríchalcos, Tali'Zora and its planned but unused sequels, and the original Code: Lyoko saga.
It gives us the story of seven interconnected worlds (remember the Seven Realms of Tali'Zora? Samr basic concept, but the worlds are just referred to as the Seven Realms, since neither Tali'Zora nor her deities exist in this RP) in a dimension distinctly different from Earth's own.
Speaking of Earth, magic has become commonplace in the 21st century and gained near-total acceptance, if not understanding, from the non-magic community. Also, MythiKa's name has become the ultimate magical urban legend - thousands, perhaps millions of people have claimed to see the witch over the years, though no claims have been vindicated.
The wizards who are thrown into the Seven Realms in this RP are split across some sort of ideological divide (perhaps some of them fear that magicians are coming too close to breaking magical limits, whilst the others believe that magic's power is unlimited and should be used to subdue the non-magic community), but will soon face a new divide - the Seven Realms are no place for any witch or wizard.
Mainly, it's because of all the people - if you can call them people - in the Realms. These people have the strange ability to drain the magical energy from witches and wizards in order to use it as their own. Mythika herself is safe, for now, having created a sanctuary - a cathedral at the heart of the seventh of these Realms, the Forest of Ether. There, she and the last of the magical beings of the Seven Realms are forced to stay. On the island where Ether Cathedral sits, the occupants are safe from the draining attacks of the Kayrans. Once they cross the lake around Ether Cathedral, though, any one of them is in danger - MythiKa even more so, since 300 years in the Seven Realms have amplified her magical abilities - making her the prime target of Kayra.
So, the gauntlet is thrown. Will the characters either join forces with Mythika and try to make their way back to Earth, or will they join forces with the Kayrans and try to claim the magical power of MythiKa for themselves?
