Let me doubt that (ok, that WAS arrogant), but at least this resolves the big plothole. I believed we were going a la X-COM, and usually first mission 50% of the team DIES HORRIBLY. The rest of the team will then encounter a Chryssalid in mission 2.

Aiyana knew that her words were beyond the ears of Ravelin, he couldn't hear her, or he chose not to hear her. Whatever the case, it didn't matter. If he raised his sword at her she could handle it for sure. She wasn't even remotely concerned about the Tiste Liosan, she could drop him with a flick of her wrist. She could drop Ravelin too, but she wouldn't. She actually didn't intend on fighting him at all. She just wanted to provoke him to fling Shadow at her.

She noticed as the Tiste Liosan basically moved away and chuckled to herself. This wasn't supposed to happen yet, she was supposed to be able to tell him, to let him know it would be okay. To show him that everything would be fine. But the Shadow wouldn't allow that. The hunger was insatiable. And it never abated. SHe would give it more than she bargained for.

Ravelin launched a tendril at her and her sword vanished. She prostrated herself before him, arms wide, prepared. As the tendril shot towards her she smiled, awaiting the embrace of darkness, the kiss of night, the caress of Shadow. Estarriel Nemmerlas appeared, she figured he would, every story needed a wizard that tried to save the damsel. He was too late. The tendril hit her in the neck, directly in the center of the cameo she wore.

She gasped in pain as her body convulsed uncontrollably, normally she would utter a spell and be done with it...but certain things had to be done the hard way, the Shadow kept coming, being drained from Ravelin and into the cameo, into her, Ravelin would probably be convulsing now too, but she couldn;t see him, her vision was blurred by the blood leaking from her eyes.

She had called her here because she wished to have a discussion, Aiyana had been with the dragons for hundreds of years now and was accustomed to all of their intracacies. Andromedae seemed to have some warm feelings for Aiyana and treated her differently than anyone else and no one could explain why.

Andromedae spoke, "Aiyana, do you know why I have grown so fond of you? Do you know why I like to keep you close to me?"

Aiyana smiled and responded, "One does not question a Dragoness for her reasoning Madame, especially not the Matriarch."

Andromedae chuckled, "I suppose you are correct little one, but I do have a reason, and now I would like to share it with you. Will you hear me?"

Aiyana sat up, paying more attention now, "With all of my being Madame."

Andromedae's eyes clouded, "You have already endured so much, and yet is more to come. Unless my SIGHT is failing me I do believe you shall overcome. My Court is going to fall, the time of Dragons is coming to an end, and when it does you are granted Immunity and Protection, you are named Heir of the Dragon Court and will Inherit my power and knowledge when I am no more. Use it as you see fit in the rest of your life. You have a duality in you that is quite uncommon, a split within your being that shall come in handy at a later date. You will fall in love, when you do you will understand what it is that i speak of. When you do fall in love you will have to make a choice, remember that everything comes at a price, even the selfless decision will cost you. When the time is right, wear this."

Andromedae handed her a beautiful cameo of a woman, Aiyana inspected it and noticed that every few moment it changed into the form of a dragon, and back again.

A tear fell down the face of the great dragon, "Be wise my child, if you make the correct decision, somethings will be lost yes, but others will be gained. If you make the wrong decision, all will be lost."

Viviane lay on the ground, near comatose, she raised her hand to her neck, the cameo was gone. That was not the only thing that had changed. She wore a long, flowing ivory robe with gold accenting and a cinched waist. Her tousle of red curls was black and ran straight down her back. Her once green eyes were now the purest blue, she stood, testing it out. She felt mainly the same. But different. She knew her powers would be affected but that test was for a more private venue.

Excuse me, but if you do not go and see if he is alright, I am going to take over again. He should be completely purged now.

That was Aiyana, she was an impatient bitch.

That was too much for Viviane, and she shifted. The red curls bounced as she trotted to Ravelin's side, Her green eyes darting like a cornered animal. Aiyana reached for Ravelin, knowing that if he reached back all was well, and if he didn't...no she couldn't form that thought, but Viviane could.

We have to kill him.

Aiyana ignored her and stood, awaiting Ravelin's reaction.
