Galactic Empires (OOC,Open)

Postby Photana » Sat Sep 22, 2012 7:49 am

The Year is 2611. Humanity has spread out into the stars, away from a dead Earth. Humans have met many other intelligent species, and Humanity itself diversified. On each colony, the Humans on it modified themselves to fit the environment. Terraforming has also come into use, and made most planets habitable. In the Human diaspora, the Humans made themselves into a strong space empire, though they have made many enemies in their grab for planets, and if these enemies were to band together, the Human domination of the Galaxy. The Humans are not united either, having little to nothing to do with each other, and having little history, besides the common ancestor.
This is the state of the Galaxy in 2611, a divided place, filled with strife, mistrust, and rampant piracy, will this change? Could a leader united a Galaxy, and more importantly, would has empire stay together?

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded ultra-progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a liberal.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a considerate idealistic egalitarian with many strong convictions.

Looks Interesting, could I pull species from other games/books a tweak them a little bit (eg take the Eldar out of Warhammer 40k), for the species and could the pirates home base be an asteroid field?
Finally weapons-wise do we have lasers to fire? photon torpedoes? Ion cannons? what's the sort of technology on weapons or do we decide.

Civilization sign-up: The United Imperial Planets or UIP
Name: Orcoa
Technology Tier: (Refer to the system above.) 5
Leading Species: Human
Government type: (Describe it.) Imperial Democracy, the UIP are ruled by 3 Imperial Governors whom bow before the powerful elected Emperor. The UIP is democratic in that it's planets elect their Governors whom then take a vote every 40 Earth years to elected the newest Emperor from the Governors body. This helps keep Royal Families forming and keeps the Imperial Citizens happy.
Population: (No more than 1 billion per planet.) 5 Billion
# of Planets controlled: (Please say if they are in you home system or not.) The UIP rules 3 planets which is their homeworld Nova Roma, the desert world of Noziza, and finally the farm world of Heaven's Step.

The UIP is one of the more powerful and oldest human governments in space, being almost 400 years old. The planet of Nova Roma was settled by a group of Earth settlers known as the "First Born" whom the Imperial Citizens look up to as their founding fathers and mothers and it become the capital of the future empire. During the first years living on Nova Roma, the First Born were attacked by a unknown and highly dangerous alien specie called The Nangi, a horrible almost shoggoth like race of murderers and killers. The war that came would be called "The War of Cleansing" for the First Born wished to not only save their new world...but also wipe the stain of the Nangi from the face of the universe. They did so after the last battle on the desert world of Noziza, the bones of the dead and the broken remains of star-craft from both sides lie their to this day.

The UIP was formed after this bloody war, when among the first born known as First Emperor came and united them under a single banner. The First Emperor and his united people then slowly colonized the other planets, building a massive imperial fleet among the way.

Aliens and other Humans are treated fairly in the UIP, trade with both are good and have made the UIP even more powerful. While some human worlds have given up on religion, The UIP are highly religious and have formed their own church called The High Imperial Church which holds that a great messiah will come from the stars and united all the races in the galaxy to purge the evil that walks among the stars.

Asteroid belts are fine for pirate bases

On early colonization and FTL you can decide, from early space travel back to industrial you can use gunpowder weapons, pre-industrial is iron weapons and below.

Accepted.

I'd like to apply but I feel that the restraints are a bit too much. There isn't anything wrong with having multiple star systems so long as you don't use for some reason as godmod tools.

I will let you have more than 3 planets, but owning multiple star systems is a no go. The reason is that the galaxy is fractured, and most stellar nations are new, or human colonies just extending back into space, after the fall of the united human empire.

Civilization sign-up:The Unified Covenant of Intergalactic Nations (UCIN)
Name:Mexican Liberation
Technology Tier:5
Leading Species:Humans
Government type: Parliamentary Constitutional Democratic Republic
Population: 7 Billion
# of Planets controlled: 5

All in the same system, except for one (If you feel this is too godmoddy, please,by no means, tell me so I can edit)

(I will put additional details later)

The homeworld of Thesus

The largest planet, and most technologically advanced out of all the others controlled. The capital of the civilization.Home of the UCIN's Capitalist tendencies, businesses and advertisements are everywhere,FTL transport stations are as common as bus stops once were in the old times. The entire planet reeks of culture.Population: 3 billion (please, will you allow me to bend the rules for just this one time?)

The second homeworld of Athenos

The second largest, and second most advanced, but it has the strongest economy and lowest crime rate.It might not be as advanced as Thesus, but the iron strong economy and investments are the backbone of the UCIN's entire economy. There are not as many businesses and advertisments, but the main inhabitants appear to be bankers, scientists, and small time politicians. One of only two planets in the entire system that actually has a native population.Population:2 Billion

The colony of Erion Ehcram

The least technologically advanced, most of the people are god-fearing farmers and factory workers. The most socially conservative of the entire system, and has Communist tendencies.2nd smallest planet,Developing economy.Population 1 Billion

The Mining Colony of Ironis Sinori

A little more advanced than Erion Ehcram, but many still consider their technology level to be too ancient.More like a freakishly large astroid than a tiny dwarf planet, the colony was officially settled three quarters of a century ago.Despite being relatively close to the other planets, many scientists consider that Ironis Sinori is not even in the system,it is a roaming planet coming closer and closer to the system because the astroid was a straggler from another, possibly larger system. The main inhabitants are miners, archeologists,Mafia members, and failing businesses.Has the highest crime rate out of all the other planets,as well as the weakest economy. Is considered by many Thesus and Athenos inhabitants as a failed attempt at a Communist empire,as the colony was once part of a large coalition of Socialist Planets. When the UCIN annexed it,the damage had already been done, poverty and war had taken control of the tiny planet beyond repair. Now,the UCIN,although they appear to be taking their time with this issue, they are trying desperately to fix the damage done by the former coalition.Population:500 million

Area 91706

A top secret military research facility residing on a Jupiter-like gas giant.Rumors fly of an ultra-military base in the deep core. The planet where the base resides, Aera 15,was once colonized by early settlers, but later, all communication was lost with the colony. The military was sent to investigate, there never was a report, but many suspect the military had something to do with it.It is forbidden to enter Area 91706 without extreme and explicit government consent. The only information officials at Area 91706 is that the population is at around 500 million, the atmosphere is hot and humid, and there is enough pressure on the rocky core to crush the average human in not even a second. It is considered an act of war for the citizens of another civilization to come within orbital distance, and will be captured, and imprisoned.

Species sheet: Kroot (Yeah I'm nicking these from warhammer 40k if people don't mind. And I'm tweaking them a bit.)
Name: The Blazing Aura
Appearance: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19847630/images/1342130292245.jpg
What do they eat?: Carnivore, generally the dead flesh of their enemies.
Anything else? : They have a unique ability to absorb the DNA of what they eat, so that they become more like that thing.
Several Subspecies: Kroot Carnivore (the standard Kroot), Kroot Hunter (faster and stronger than normal Kroot, but rarer), Kroot Vultures (Have wings for short periods of flying, Rare), Kroot Hound (much more animalistic, walks on four legs, but faster than all other types of Kroot, mainly kept as hunting packs, fairly common), Kroot Shaper (leader of the Kroot, cleverer than the rest of the Kroot, Common)

Pirate sign-up: The Night Guardians
Name: The Blazing Aura
Leader: Thorne Katana
Population: 1200 (mix of Humans and Kroot)
Government: Each of the 200 crew on each ship was a wooden cube, about 10cm width, when a captain needs to be picked each member of the crew needs to give their wooden cube to the person they want to be captain (they can't keep their own wooden cube.) each wooden cube has the persons name engraved on it, and whoever gets the most cubes becomes captain of the ship. when the leader of the whole fleet of ships is needed the process is repeated to find a captain of the old leaders ship, and then each of the 5 captains must give their cubes to one of the others, and the process is repeated on a smaller scale, obviously at the higher level more trickery goes on, like "If you support me you get a bigger amount of the treasure")
# of ships: 5
Home Base Planet name: an Asteroid base, AKA The Daybreaker.
Extra Note: Not just pirates, they are Mercenaries and Bounty Hunters first, and if no business is available they turn to piracy to gain money and valuables. meaning it is rare for all 5 ships to be together at once. they normally come together for either a big raid or for the picking progress of new captains and leaders. though the Leader still remains in completely command of the whole fleet no matter how far away they are.

Each of the five ships started out as one of these but modifications have been made, each ship carries four fighter craft that are also used for planetary landings.

I should probably say as well that they're Tech Level 5

Ah what the hell, I'll be a pirate/semi-civ :)

Pirate sign-up: Revolutionary Equipped Defenders (RED)
Name: Vuvask-hab
Leader: Scarman Sal 2
Population: 3600 (there is no particular ethnic distinction, members of all species join RED)
Government: Captains are elected on a four month basis, and all decisions must be ratified by the crew first. Alternative voting is used to vote for captains, but everything else requires a two-third majority. Also, the names captains adopt must alliterate, for some, long forgotten reason.

RED is largely communistic, as the captains have largely ceremonial powers, and everything beyond one's living quarters is common property. The monetary aspect of piracy, illicit trade and mercenary work is officially only pursued in order to fund its two century long mission in this harsh, bourgeois reality: to create galactic communes throughout the galaxy. The apparent 'bloodthirsty scoundrel' image RED has cultivated is not necessarily true however: while they may act that way towards the rest of the galaxy, among themselves they care for each other and the sick and elderly are not so much eliminated as they are nursed for as long as they need help. However, slackers are quickly thrown into the engines.

# of ships: (No more than 5) 5

Each ship (except for the third and fifth) is named after a former leader and an relatively ancient figure admired by the crew of RED.

The mothership, the Marx-Billand, is named after Karl Marx and the founder of RED, Blood Billand. It is by far the largest ship, but is held back by decades-old weaponry and reliability issues, making it a mammoth task to repair. There have been calls by some of the crew to sell Marx-Billand for scrap, but the rest of RED still wish to keep it for ceremonial and residential purposes. More than a third of the crew live here.

The second ship, the Engels-Sal, is named after the first Scarman Sal, who made the group known throughout the human empire. Originally intended to be a small fighter, it was once even the de facto replacement of Marx-Billand. With an initially much more efficient design (that has since become more 'bourgeois') and a limited occupancy, the years have served Engels-Sal well. Nonetheless, it is still suboptimal compared to the mothership in its prime. About 600 people operate the ship.

The third ship, the Paris Bloodshed, had a name change from Lenin-Billand after Blood Billand 2 dishonoured the position of captaincy by acting against the crew's will and attacking high-profile targets, almost causing the loss of the entire fleet. Its original military design was discarded in favour of a industrial vessel, one which focussed on production over raiding in order to recoup lost resources. 750 crew members maintain the ship.

The fourth ship, the Lenin-Pau, named after Prolerage Pau, is of a much more recent design, and was part of an attempt to bring RED back to its original communist values. It is very conservative in design, excelling in efficiency and power over the comparatively fancier Engels-Sal and Paris Bloodshed. It was a success, and it is now considered the de facto Marx-Billand in terms of military might. About 750 crew members work on the vessel.

The final ship, the Confederación, (in reference to the CNT ) is a small fighter intended to accompany Engels-Sal and Guevara-Pau. It balances the other two ships' sheer power with blinding subluminal speeds and cheap operating costs, making them together an optimal raiding fleet. The remaining 300 crew members work here.

Home Base Planet name: There is no centralised based, but a lot of RED's business is done in Urusan, a shady crime hub in the galaxy that houses some of the most unscrupulous fellows of the early 27th century. The planet is entirely lawless, and the 'anything goes' attitude of its inhabitants drives away all but the most daring/foolish individuals.

And RED's definitely at tech tier 5.

Secular democratic market socialist republic (both techs)
Economic Left/Right: -6.25

What do they eat?: Mainly meat but also eats some essential human nutrients (excluding most fruits and vegetables), having been created with Human DNA.
Anything Else?: Do NOT get them hooked on ginger. They call themselves The Race, their empire The one true Empire, and their home planet Home. To The Race, Fleetlords are generals of fleets and shiplords control individual ships in a fleet. Troops have body paint to seperate ranks. Rabotev II and Halless I are desert planets like Tau Ceti II & III.

Civilization sign-up: Greater German Reich ( GGR )
Name: Carathon
Technology Tier: 5 (Refer to the system above.)
Leading Species: Human
Government type: Totalitarianist Führerprinzip
Population: 7.65 Billion
# of Planets controlled: Three

Their home planet is simply called Deutschland and at a glance it would appear to be an large scale replica of 1939 - 1941 Germany. However under the old fashioned surface of black and white cameras and
bell shaped phonographs all of the GRR's technology is highly advanced, with the cultural appearance of 1940s structures and devices. The planet itself is home to 4.4 billion people, being an medium sized planet with fertile glasses and fields it is easily able to sustain such an population.

The next planet, named Deutschland II is similar to the original planet, but slightly larger and with an inhabitancy of 3.2 billion people.

On the very outmost fringes of the system lays Reichskommissariat Kraine, or simply RK Kraine, an planet ruled by the corporate giants Rheinmetall and Krupp among others, which provides materials to the rest of the Reich. It is a small dwarf planet, inhabitanted and worked upon by 50 million people, with an large percentage being alien slaves.
OOC: That's right, mother fucking space nazis! Because why not.
