               TIMELINES
Series One: The Enemy of My Enemy (IC Thread)

Long ago, in the constellation of Kasterborous, there was an inauspicious planet known by the name of Gallifrey. The planet and its inhabitants were ruled with an iron fist by the matriarchical Cult of the Pythia. The Pythia was a psychic being from whom nothing could be hidden. Well, almost nothing. Three Gallifreyans -- Rassilon, Omega, and a mysterious third whose name has been lost to time but is known by history as The Other -- led a revolution against the Cult of the Pythia, killing their leader and banishing the cultors to the neighboring planet of Karn.

The Pythia, however, did not die quietly. In her final moments, she cursed the three who had ended her reign. But the triumvirate had little time to concern itself with magic.

The three became the rulers of Gallifrey, pushing advancement in the fields of science and technology. Rassilon, being the more charismatic of the three, naturally became the true leader, with the other two serving in more advisory roles.

Under Rassilon's leadership, the Gallifreyan developed the technologies that made them into the Time Lords, though not without a price. In the process of developing the technology required for Time Travel, Omega was lost. The first member of the triumvirate had been struck down by the Pythia's curse.

With Omega gone, the Other feared betrayal by Rassilon, who had begun to go mad with power. He fled Gallifrey using an early time capsule. This flight, however, went horrifically wrong. Halfway through the journey, his capsule ruptured and the Other was lost in the time vortex.

Finally, Rassilon succumbed to megalomania and became one of the great tyrants of history. The populace revolted and sealed him in the Dark Tower in the Death Zone, where it is presumed he died. All three had succumbed to the Curse of the Pythia, and her cult on Karn went into hiding and is believed to have faded into nothing over the centuries.

Millennia later, a boy was born on the slopes of Mount Perdition. He was called Theta Sigma by his friends, and he was a perfectly normal young Time Lord, if a bit rebellious. Or so it seemed. At the age of 200, he and his granddaughter fled Gallifrey for reasons unknown, stealing an old time capsule with a knackered navigation system, and proceeded to have the greatest adventures anyone had ever had.

But Theta Sigma, who had begun to call himself the Doctor, had a dark secret. A secret which was unknown even to him. For the Other had bonded with the Time Vortex, and had begun to manipulate events very delicately in order to enable his escape.

The Doctor is currently on his twelfth incarnation. He travels in the TARDIS with several companions. The Master -- ejected from the timelock by forces unknown -- has a new face as well. And something is rumbling that will force the two -- bitterest of enemies -- to work together. The Other is returning, and time itself is in graver danger than it has ever been. In the face of this tragedy, enemies shall become friends, friends shall become enemies, and one Time Lord will have an awful lot of running to do.

Fuck you.

Seriously. Fuck you. Do you know what my schedule is like? Also, do you know how much I enjoy Doctor Who?

Fuck you. I want to join.

Nat: Night's always in some bizarre state somewhere between "intoxicated enough to kill a hair metal lead singer" and "annoying Mormon missionary sober".

Swith: It's because you're so awesome. God himself refreshes the screen before he types just to see if Nightkill has written anything while he was off somewhere else.

You could be the tin dog.
Or the female companion, since Ende's being the male companion.

And this is designed to not eat up a huge amount of time.

Ah, I remember that. Interesting enough character. But I'd take a pass there.

Probably the character we're most in need of is the female companion, just so you know.

Anyone you can think of who would be thrilled by that so that I can invite them?

Actually, Night, if you want, I could take the female companion and you could have the male companion.

I'm kind of indifferent about it, and I'm having some difficulties thinking up an app.

Character: The Twelfth Doctor
Description: Born and raised on a distant world, long dead but never forgotten, steeped in thriving history, wonder come alive, the Doctor quickly got bored and left. Hey, it was boring there, and, like, nothing exploded or grabbed physics by its nipples and twisted until Einstein cried. At the young age of 200 (whippersnappers), he stole an ancient time machine called a "Type 40 TARDIS" and whisked away in time space along with his granddaughter, Susan. They eventually arrived in London, 1963, a mere day after the famous Kennedy assassination. Susan enrolled in a human school while the Doctor tried to repair several of the TARDIS' flaws - one of which, a failed chameleon circuit (fancy cloaking device) that got stuck in the form of a 1963 police box, has only been repaired once and quickly changed back. In school, two of her teachers, Barbara Wright and Ian Checkerman (or is it Chesterton?), History and Science, respectively, became concerned for this strange, unearthly child. They pursued her home, because that was totally OK in the '60's, and stumbled into the Foreman junkyard, where they found the TARDIS and its enigmatic Nemo. The Doctor, in a fit of panic and grumpy old man dickishness, kidnapped the two schoolteachers and fled back into the time-space continuum, gradually growing from his selfish childhood self into an (often) amenable and quirky champion of freedom, romantic ideals, non-violence, and poor fashion choices. He has had many faces, many names, and many different umbrellas (all of them horrible), but he is still the same man - sassy Space-Gandalf.

This particular Doctor arose from a terrible accident in which his companions became trapped on a Silurian ship crashing into the Sun, leaving the Doctor to save them or himself. Being the good guy, he, obviously, saved them and himself (because fuck you, he's got a sonic), whisking them away into the TARDIS with a teleporter, some good aiming skills, and a cookie (good story). This was not without consequences, however - by staying on the ship to man the teleporter, the Doctor was exposed to a lethal dose of solar radiation, dying on the TARDIS floor.

He is a new man with a new look on life, one nearing his last, and he is very aware of the fact. The Doctor struggles with mortality for the first time in a while, and he's also got a new foe and a new friend to deal with.

Fan-fucking-tastic.
Picture (Optional):
ImageBecause homage.

Personality: Hey, remember that whole "grappling with mortality" thing? Yeah, he's losing.

The Doctor is still a quite silly man with a bizarre penchant for stupid hats and long, babbling speeches that make no sense to anyone but himself, but he is undeniably changed. He's dark. Bitter. Secretive. Ruthless, even. And, if pressed, there is no saying that he wouldn't flee or kill a whole planet to save himself. His companions can bring out the more positive side of him, but even they cannot control him. The Doctor's wrath was never a good thing to bring down upon yourself, but now, now it may just be a fatal thing. Not that you would ever know - he hides it all behind a cheesy grin and a facade of mercy. It's hard to say whether the Doctor knows of his new violence or not, but the hollow eyes do not lie.

He is more the lonely wandering man than ever - pray to your god that you don't get in his way.

Tiami is cool.

It's Nightkill. He's been there so long he rents out rooms to other people at a flat rate, but demands cash up front.

I should probably make an app for the Other. Setting a good example and all that.

Character: The Other (v.13)
Description: A shadowy figure in Time Lord history, one of the founding Triumvirate of Time Lord society after the overthrow of the cult of the Pythia that had, until then, dominated Gallifrey. As Rassilon became a despot, the Other, fearing betrayal, fled, but not before stowing his genetic code inside a Loom. This was the Loom of the House of Lungbarrow, and it spawned a single child using the Other's DNA, an exact duplicate.
The Other, meanwhile jumped right into the time vortex without a TARDIS, bonding with it due to the exceptional psychic powers he used to defeat the Pythia, and became imbued with godly powers. He has seen the whole of time, manipulated it to his satisfaction. He has been driving forward the events surrounding the Doctor's life for a very long time, driving them toward his own goals. He has been living in the Time Vortex, using his psychic powers to keep himself alive amidst its turbulence.
Then came the bad wolf. A human being looked into the Time Vortex and was consumed by it. She was, for an instant, the most powerful thing ever, and the Other was cast from the Vortex onto the surface of an alien planet. The act of being forcibly ripped away killed him, and he regenerated - he is now on his last life. Removed from the Time Vortex, his powers and life force are waning, and he must act quickly in order to preserve himself - even at the cost of literally everyone else in all of creation.

Personality: The Other cares for no one but himself. His primary concern is his own survival - the fact that this will destroy the entire universe, leaving him to craft it anew in his own image, is just an extremely nice bonus. He has, after all, always thought he could do a lot better. Unlike most visionaries, he doesn't care for a universe with no war or hunger or strife. No, because that's what makes things entertaining. He has a vision of a universe where he is the brutal dictator, ruling with an iron fist, and with no one able to overthrow him. Time Lord is not enough; he wants - he needs - to be God.

So, doing some work on fleshing out the plot. Are there any specific alien races people really do or really do not want to see over the course of this roleplay?

The cyborg from A Town Called Mercy.

Also, the Dalek Emperor's son, Prince of Daleks, who wanders space in a TARDIS of his own, looking for a purpose. *nods*
