So kind of like how in SGA, they get the Asgard transporters on the Daedalus, and then one of the first things they think to use them for is beaming nukes inside of Wraith Hives?
Exactly! Or how in the Star Trek mirror universe, the Vulcans show up with their advanced ship to make first contact, and Zeb Cochrane promptly shoots them in the face and the humans storm the ship. Humans have a propensity for turning things into weapons, looking for the deadly uses first. When you look at a kitchen knife, you don't think, "that'd be good for chopping up tomatoes", you think, "I could stab someone with that". It's just human nature, one of the things that has let us survive this long.

Pretty much you're with a group of people, probably players, and you have to build upon an alien planet. At first the planet is peaceful, with forests and easy-to-kill wildlife (ALIEN BAMBIEZ), but as you get close to.... something, or further along in the galaxy, it gets much harder.

They seem nice. I'd just advice you to write in the past tense rather than present. Almost everyone here on this subforum uses that.

In particular I'm plotting to restore an RP of mine about the school lives of aliens, from all manner of worlds, who live in a society free of pretty much all ills and constraints--and capable of hyperspace travel at the drop of a hat. These aliens therefore measure distances in light-years, life as infinite, and planets as nice places to hang out--and given this undeniable superiority, a lot of them are pretty cavalier about killing beings at the human level of tech. It's sort of become a popular game among the societies of the universe to go and raid the inferior worlds, even, just for the hell of it.
So you, in playing their equivalent of a high-school teenager, you're actually playing a god--just not by the standards of the time. Any thoughts?

I also understand some people have left, and the front page is no longer accurate. Who's playing what nation?
Maybe this could clear up a few confusions.
1870 is one hell of a year to live in. The dozens of German kingdoms have combined and either aligned themselves to Prussia, Austria, or South Germany. Austria has Belgium as its protectorate and the Netherlands is under a Anglo-Austrian condominium. All Dutch colonies have been annexed by Austria.
The German forces combined in a military alliance and pushed through France, mirroring the Franco-Prussian War of '70-'71. An Egypt autonomous from Ottoman rule has joined this alliance under the Austrian banner and has taken most of its colonies. With Napoleon III taken prisoner, the Third French Republic was announced, but some time later a number of cities rose up to form the French Commune, and the nascent Republic takes refuge in Versailles, which has been abolished and exiled by Egypt.
Paris has been raided by Egyptians and the Austrians, then marched through by Prussia and South Germany. However, it remains strong in the face of the occupation(s) and looks to establishing a united France, though is threatened by Britain who has guaranteed the position of the Third Republic as the sole legitimate government of France.
An independent Albania has risen up and has been bequeathed land belonging to Albanians, achieving some sort of success. The Ottomans have established a nominally independent Armenia as a buffer state between it and Russia. The Ottomans have also formed an independent Sultanate of Egypt with the additions of the Levant. Together, Egypt and Albania plan to be united in nuptial ties.
Russia has invaded Mongolia, and have orchestrated a successful rebellion in Xinjiang, as well as an uprising in Armenia. Japan has Manchuria under its grasp.
Argentina has launched several false flag bombardments on certain countries in order to drive out the West from South America. There is talk of establishing the Latin American Economic Pact. Mexico, Italy, Colombia, the Ottomans, and Chile are united under the MICOC (or as I call it, the Coalition of Milan). Mexico is invading Guatemala. Russia has blockaded Argentina and is negotiating a surrender.
Also, Spain has Korea. Italy is mobilising to capture the Papal States and unify Italy once and for all.
The Great Powers (and Sweden) have assembled in Cairo to discuss the state of affairs and a possible partition of Africa.

Not so easy.
