Well, I've finally gotten the backstory and plot worked out, and I'd love to have a Co-OP who's fairly familiar with geopolitics and recent history, as well as with a good imagination. If you're interested, TG me and we'll talk.

Everyone else, read over this and go wild. I'll hopefully have an OOC up soon. Incidentally, I've also decided on a title. . .

Ordenad: Echoes and Shards
Part One will be entitled "To Fiddle While Rome Burns"
Part Two will be "Et Tu, Brutè?"

Without further ado, here 'tis.

Twenty years after the conclusion of the disastrous wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the map of the world is a bit more cohesive than it used to be. Africa experienced a series of violent upheavals following the Arab Spring and increased presence of al-Qaeda, but most militant groups and terrorist cells were destroyed by 2021. The continent is slowly rebuilding, but the divide between the new wealthy upper-class, especially in Nigeria and South Africa, is growing and presenting problems. By 2035, Iran has annexed both Syria and Iraq, conducting a series of vicious ethnic purges and allying itself with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in a "New Caliphate" centred in Damascus. Wracked by mounting debt and the financial struggles of the failing European Union, the United Nations was powerless to do anything- and frankly, many scholars declared a more unified Muslim world was a change for the better. They were probably right- as the Western world continued on towards energy-independence, an agreement was forged between major exporters and consumers of petroleum that kept prices at a reasonable level and prolonged the life of the world's hydrocarbon reserves. A tense but relatively stable international peace has existed for six years.

The militaries of the world are quite a bit smaller than they used to be- the advancement of drone technology and the growing push for disarmament, especially in the area of nuclear weapons, has forced the world's governments to downsize their armed forces dramatically. So while the overall size of militaries across the globe has decreased, a variety of new advancements have made them more than suitable for national defense. A spate of smaller powers, following the British example of HMS Upholder, have constructed small, fast, and quiet diesel-electric submarines as a primary naval defense. The United States, after unveiling its Gerald R. Ford modified Nimitz hull, continued to computerize and refine the aircraft carrier. Another revolutionary development in naval warfare was the widespread use of the railgun, which caused the major powers to create gunboats not dissimilar to the battleships of the 1930s, but smaller and less heavily armored.

China suffered a bout of instability in the 2020s, but after democratizing somewhat became an even more influential part of the international community, even making peace with Russia and promising Taiwan friendship under the more moderate regime.

So it is with surprise and shock that the world leaders awaken on the morning of March 15, 2037 to find Beijing, Damascus, London, and Moscow in flames after massive airbursts of unknown origin damage government facilities and stretch tense relations almost to the breaking point. Within hours, fingers begin to point as the realization dawns that Washington, D. C. had not been hit amidst the rising American concern that their status as a superpower was slipping away marks the United States as a prime candidate for the attacks. The President denies it, and an uneasy truce pervades. World leaders meet in Paris to discuss a response, and a team of Special Ops and commando units is assembled from all over the world to find the culprit. Someone's lying, and with fingers-and missiles- pointed, it's imperative that the world know who.

Participants will play members of this team in tracking down the terrorists or governments responsible and returning the information successfully. Unfortunately, the members of the team don't trust- some even hate- one another, and nobody is sure just who's actually their friend.

Interested. I'd thought about doing something like this ever since reading about the French and American intelligence services having a mini-war in Vietnam, and wanted to do something based around the idea that espionage/covert action is all about self-interest, first.

That shall be the most important part of the first part, then the shit really hits the fan in the second. You can co-OP if you want.

I actually had that idea a long time ago but was too busy with Sylvan to OP it.

Alrighty, I have an advert:
Here's the link.

It's the OOC/Signups thread for my Mortal Kombat RP. Basically, Shao Kahn was able to partially merge Outworkd and Earthrealm, but was defeated before he could complete the process. However, the forces of Light could not reverse the merging effect. As a result, the inhabitants of Outworld became able to teleport to Earthrealm, and vice versa. Inhabitants are frequently fighting each other. As a result of the universal offbalance, Edenia was transported to the sky of Earthrealm, while an eternal portal has opened between Netherrealm and Outworld. Raiden's forces must make a grand play against the combined leadership of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, and if they succeed, Earthrealm will be free of its evil burden.

Enjoy and enlist.

Dragons. Many think of them as legends or fairy tales; mythical beasts that breathe fire, fly, eat livestock and kidnap princesses and lock them in towers. Well, aside from the last one, all of those were true about them. You see, dragons existed at one point, long ago in a world forgotten by the sands of time. The most notorious and enduring legends about them make them out to be harbingers of the end times, arbiters of destruction and darkness, and generally the embodiment of evil itself.

However, this was not true of all of them.In fact, most dragons really had no quarrels with humans other than the occasional missing sheep or cow. Humans though, being the over exaggerators we are, freaked out about it and started killing them off. So, through centuries of slaughters and killings the humans eventually wiped out dragons.......Pfft, yeah right!

In truth, what few dragons were left went into hiding, using the magic given to them by some higher power (will elaborate on this later) to assume a human form and hide amongst their killers. Throughout the generations, they mingled and blended in, some taking humans as partners and having offspring, which eventually leads to this RP which takes place in the 21st century in and around the small little town of Azle, Texas.
