The players won't be the bad guys; they'll be unlikely anti-heroes.

I'm leaning a bit more towards the first, though, because I do want the players to view the government as the "good guys," at least in comparison to the corporations.

You could add some intrigue by having corporations linked to it, with the corporation sending out corrupt cops to kill us?

Too late to worry about that now, just see where you end up and learn from it. If it turns out good, you'll have an indicative of how you could manage and organise your RPs in the future.

The players won't be government agents, anyways. They're independent mercenaries, like I already said. :/

Obviously the entire crime syndicate will be corporate-run.

Idk if i had joined i likely would have been a corporate infiltration and espionage person.

So its a shame people have to be good guys in a single profession, then again the good guys could capture a person like mine doing shady business.

Idk i'm less interested but still interested.

Well, but that'd be kinda limiting their creative freedom :<

I agree it would limit that, and make the story all one sided and bland like butter without bread.

Not significantly, no. You can still play pretty much any type of character you want. You're just going to have to be a part of the plot to do it.

Not really what i get from this is: You can be anyone, in a very linear and highly restricted area, and you have to do this.

Really, it's like complaining that D&D limits creative freedom because you have to be an adventurer.

No, not really. It's like if she made an rp about soldiers. You can be whoever you want, but you have to be a soldier.

I misunderstood, I assume they needed a merc background and shit like that, but I guess it'd be possible for them to be recruited for other skills they possess?

Regardless, I probably won't join, Tarsonis drew my spare attention away.

There are plenty of skills that would be useful outside of killing things, yes.

I'm currently writing up the OP for my cyberpunk RP, and I'm really loving it. I've got the backstory all set up, and now I'm detailing the various important factions at play. It's fun. :D

Alright, so in order to make everything a bit more organized, I'll be instituting a stat system similar to Efen High as well as some generalized classes to group the different characters. I've got, I believe, a good selection of classes, but if there is anything I missed, feel free to tell me, and I'll add it in.

Bruiser: Big, tough guy who beats shit up with his fists.
Gunner: Generally uninteresting fellow who uses various types of firearms.
Hacker: The guy who hacks computers. Duh.
Spy: Stealthy ninja/assassin with gadgets.
Swordsman: Because when you can buy bulletproof skin, why not cut people in half with a big, fuck-off sword?
Techie: The guy who builds all the robots and cars and shit. And bombs.

I'll have time next week and I think I can probably do a Hacker. I somewhat dislike your class system, but I'll wait for the OP to go up before criticising it.

Oh, it's mostly just there for character inspiration. The classes will have different levels of points available for the four categories of "skills," "weapons," "tech," and "cyberware/bioware" as are relevant to the class, but that's about it.

...What's the difference between the last two?

Also, you should throw in a wrecker or someone who specializes in vehicles. For variety or something. Unless the Techie already does that, in which case ignore this.
