Report On The Character RP Genres On P2TM With Some Rambling, 28th of January, 2013

Giants of the Past, Midgets of Today
It seems that what were once the most popular genres in Forum 7 (Superpowered Teens, Demigod Teens, Crossover Tournaments) have completely disappeared. "Fanfiction" RPs seem to be quite scarce, with a surge of Original Content RPs popping up. The Far Cry 3 period ended in a week, as expected.
Atleast two or three Deity RPs popped up in the last three months. They didn't endure, as always.

Genres Rare As Fuck That Would Be Refreshing To See On P2TM:

Slice-Of-Life: An actually workable concept, provided that the OP tosses events for the characters to participate in, everywhere and then. Not to be confused with the usually ill-fated "High School RPs". Benefits highly from Animesque style, and a slightly demential mood.

Mecha: As in, the Japanese-style ones. Be them Real or Super Robot genre, Mecha RPs are rare, terribly rare on P2TM. So much that I ever saw two of them. And I was the OP of one.
Can work without being much anime-style, contrary to what one may think. Well, not much.

Any other ramblings or comments are welcome.
And yes, P2TM NEEDZ MOAR MECHA.

Since "Mecha" can go all over from Galaxy-sized robots with unlimited energy sources drilling all the shit they can find, to a tale of a war between two space faring civilization who both use fairly realistical mecha, up to a grimdark setting where evil, living machines and man eating aliens are a daily sight, and everyone has some degree of PTSD or other psychological conditions.

True, but I can handle more, especially since Masquerade of Eden is pretty much dead (I really should remove it from my sig), I'm not posting in the IC of Elfen High until Arc 3, and Shazzridar's Tower requires little effort to maintain.

Well, not like moods have to be completely uni-directional. I prefer to keep a fair balance of light-hearted and grimdark, maybe move it around depending on the setting or the situation.
It can all go from the Super Mecha Sentai Team having a beach party during the weekend to the men of Mechanized Brigade "Vanguard" sharing a quick, witty joke before jumpjng in the heat of the battle.

Out of curiosity, anyone willing to join a Star Wars RP? I've been thinking for a while of making an RP centered on a special squad of Storm Commandos created to be the 'clean up crew' of the Empire, either retrieving objects that were stolen (or with experimental droids) got up and walked away, killing targets that Imperial Intelligence let slip or alerted and now have gone to ground, and extremely dangerous tactical missions that make the suicide missions James Bond regularly goes on look like the pathetic work of a braindead-assassin (E.G., they infiltrate fortress worlds filled literally to the brim with millions of enemies). Slightly inspired by Vietnam-Era SEALs, I'd probably look up some of their declassified missions and the themes for the RP would be Nam-era as well, not your average Star Wars stuff.

First episode would center around an IG series droid (IG-200) of my own design. Just thinking about this, because the current selection is dull and I'm not excited by anything, not even Elfen High.

Honestly, I don't think a slice-of-life could work. I mean, it's theoretically possible, but I just don't think it's possible with the P2tM crowd. They like their combat way too much and would surely be bored to tears by slice-of-life.

Honestly, I don't think a slice-of-life could work. I mean, it's theoretically possible, but I just don't think it's possible with the P2tM crowd. They like their combat way too much and would surely be bored to tears by slice-of-life.

Which always irritates me. I'd love to make massive posts, but I don't have the substance to do so, and nobody else does (Elfen averages a paragraph), so I just end up looking weird. Same thing with massive apps. People write a paragraph, I make WALL'O'TEXT!

Would be nice though if the cool, large RP's in P2TM could survive longer than a week. I'm still designing my epic space opera thingy 'Twelve Days Unto The Void', but like the previous iterations, it'll just flop.

As for me, I don't have a problem with long posts, as long as they're properly spaced out with paragraphs and all.
