Bran opened the box, he opened it as slowly as possible in order to savor the moment. A familiar tune started emanating from the box.

"To not dying!"

"To not dying!" Swith cheered and followed his lead in opening the Poptart. She never realized there was a Poptart ritual... she felt it best to respect it. It wasn't bad flavored either, and better than pie flavored pie, so she took a few more quick bites before she began to feel itchy. "Um, Bran... how old did you say this box was?"

"As old as Time itself! There's no expiration date, I think . . ."

Swith sneezed and rubbed her hands. "Wha? Hmmmm..."

She held out her hand, fingers splayed, and accidentally shot a prismatic beam of light at Bran. The sudden blunt force of thirteen kittens impacting his chest knocked him out of his chair.

"Sorry Bran! So sorry!" She jumped up and helped him back into his chair.

"Oh, I like this." Looking at the dead animals on the floor, she added, "Are you going to eat those?"

"As old as Time itself! There's no expiration date, I think . . ."

Swith sneezed and rubbed her hands. "Wha? Hmmmm..."

"Well," said Swith, "we can stay here and play strip poker or else go find them? Although I may lie down for a bit, too." She finished the first Poptart and smiled. "These are excellent, Bran. Thanks for sharing them with me." She hugged him again and then stretched.

"Hey," she said suddenly, hearing Thriller seem to come back to life. "I forgot the emperor was still here. I pushed him into a corner when it looked like he was falling asleep last night." She pointed to the cyborg sitting in the shadows.

"Well," said Swith, "we can stay here and play strip poker or else go find them? Although I may lie down for a bit, too." She finished the first Poptart and smiled. "These are excellent, Bran. Thanks for sharing them with me." She hugged him again and then stretched.

"Hey," she said suddenly, hearing Thriller seem to come back to life. "I forgot the emperor was still here. I pushed him into a corner when it looked like he was falling asleep last night." She pointed to the cyborg sitting in the shadows.

"Yea, and i woke up for a bit to tell a story only to realize you were asleep.... Damn you M.A.I."

It's not my fault sir, all organic life forms seem to give off the same pulse and patterns as if they were awake.

"For awhile now, you just never recognized the 8 ft cyborg in the room."

"Yeah, I've been a bit busy not dying to notice. Nice to meet you by the way, my name's Bran."

"Nice to meet you too,I am Immortal Emperor Thriller, but you can call me Thriller, Cornelius, or Cornelius Thriller."

"How about why you became a cyborg and how you feel about biological beings?" Swith asked nervously. Her history with transhumans was a brutally painful one.

[Giovenith]

"Oh the holes don't take the shadows away," assured Giovenith. "The holes are the reason they exist, but also the reason the opposite exists. Without the holes, neither you nor the shadows would... exist..." She suddenly blanked out for a few more seconds, before running off to another side of the room and suddenly scribbling on her dress with a marker. "Dig the hole, dig the hole, make sure the hole is there, or we'll all die..."

"No shit." Monfrox replied in a surprised tone."You have no idea what my shadow is, do you?" She said. She suddenly felt something in her pack. She pulled it around to see her Mama's Beads and Soul artifacts, but something else. A small mishapen circle lay on top. It looked like it was made out of glass and had smoke swirling inside of it. "Oh, how long has that been there?" She asked herself.

"Of course I don't know silly!" giggled Giovenith, "I have not known you nearly long enough to know something like THAT!"

And they saw the leader they needed in me. I of course, couldn't say no, so I did just want they asked. And how I feel about biological beings..... To be honest I think that you just asked a stupid question there, but I can understand your concerns. Anyways, since I was a biological being, and still am, I feel that some of them deserve to die, and others deserve to live. Don't be alarmed, I thought this way even when I was fully human."

Swith eased back on the couch and sipped her coffee. "Actually, some "species" - for lack of a better term - of cyborgs see me as a threat. We've one in the building now that would rather infest our system and try to take me apart instead of just coming down to ask what I was or if I was a threat. I'm very wary for that reason. You commitment to your people is honorable, although I wouldn't have done the same... and given all the damn diseases, plagues, body-altering devices and general mayhem that goes on around here, are you capable of self-repair or do I have to worry about your biological health? I run the med lab down here."

"No shit." Monfrox replied in a surprised tone."You have no idea what my shadow is, do you?" She said. She suddenly felt something in her pack. "You're smart.....and I think you're starting to grow on me...." Monfrox said, half worried half questioning. She grabbed the sphere and it burst in her hands. "OW!" She pulled her hand out. Suddenly, the smoke shot out of her pack. She was thrown into the wall as it went straight into her mouth. Once it was all in, she took a deep breath and held her throat. Her breath showed, like when it was cold out. She shivered a bit.
