The trick was working very well in Malal's case, he certainly couldn't wait for the night, for the last two years they had almost always been enjoyable. He was now quite distracted by the sight and at times nearly tripped while taking the stairs. He also had nearly slipped on some rather annoying black rubbery liquid that was flowing down the stairs, causing him to angrily shake his feet and get any residue of the substance off his feet. Thinking nothing more of it, Malal continued his journey down the stairs and enjoying the view of Nyarla until they then reached the bottom of the stairwell and reached the basement.
"Alright. Jade, ensure your mind can't be breached when we reach the Spawn, last thing we need is for it corrupt your mind. That wouldn't be good." Malal stated as he then walked forward and opened the first in a series of doors in the basement, each of them enchanted with magic and all of them very durable. Once the group stepped through the first, Malal then pulled it shut and locked it before he then moved onto the next and repeated the same process until they reached the final door.
"Prepare yourself mortal." Malal stated as he then opened the third door, and there was the Spawn. A horrible, twisted creature that was never meant to be- its arms chained to a wall to prevent its escape. The horrible being screeched upon seeing the group and struggled in its imprisonment, attempting to escape, but of course, such attempts were in vain.

But there was a new one.

A young woman, a mortal- a weakness... one that could be exploited.
The Spawn quickly began to probe Jade's mind, wiggling about with ease- it was three fourths of divine blood and a fourth undead, it broke through any defenses with ease and started to search the mind of the girl- searching for how it could appear sympathetic. The Spawn saw everything, every misery Jade had suffered through, every heartbreak, and what was this? A mortal named James who had rudely vanished with nothing but a note? This was indeed a weakness, but the being also saw much more, including the deaths of her parents. Parents- the Spawn hated its creators and could use this to guilt Jade into opening up further, and so it exchanged a telepathic thought-

At least your parents were nice. Mine beat me. the Spawn thought in Jade's mind while it then transferred and explosion of memories of how Nyarla and Malal had tormented and mistreated the creature, skipping over the causes of the treatment and focusing on malnutrition, beating, curses, and many other torments. It then pleaded in Jade's mind, crying in it for aid and freedom.

But all parties failed to notice that the black liquid had followed them, pooling in a far corner of the room where it condensed to form a large chair that was not there before. Only a keen eye would spot that however, and all eyes were focused on the horrible monstrosity before them.

Minh grinned. "I already knew it." he said. "Lewis, I'll be seeing you later if you want to chat." he said, walking away. He would talk to his son later- the boy wanted some time alone and wasn't afraid to let Minh know it. Talking right now would be too painful for them both.

Crowley just stared and gaped at Lewis. "I just- I- I-" he didn't even continue for a minute. Then his voice came back. "You're engaged?" he asked with quiet horror.

Ciel listened to Natsu's words. It made sense that he didn't care much for formalities, but again, she didn't mind, and wasn't afraid to say so. "It is alright if you don't care much for formalities, it is just how I like to address others." She explained, and then watched curiously as Natsu apparently talked to himself out of the blue, which confused her quite a bit. Then, when Natsu explained that he was about to dissappear and that someone else was about to take his place, all he managed to do was confuse her even further, which would be visible on her face by that point.

"Um, farawell." Was all she managed to say when Natsu was engulfed by the bright light that then subsided, revealing a different person, another man, with shorter hair, who was sitting on the ground hugging his knees.

Ciel was thoroughly confused as to why all of that happened, but she also knew that the man, Izanagi, seemed to have some kind of problem as well, so, once again, she took out her flute, and began playing a song. However, this time it was a slightly upbeat melody, meant to cheer him up.

"Wait, what? What's this about Lewis and children? My hearing has been pretty bad ever since..."

He paused for a moment, appeared to be stuck in thought, scowled violently, and shuddered. Even the memories of that were horrible. He attempted to put them out of his mind, and then continued.

"...well, the time I tried to climb Everest."

Suddenly, he saw the pictures Lewis was showing Crowley, and his jaw dropped. He was confused, astounded, horrified, and frankly, slightly jealous. How on earth could Lewis have a wife, girlfriend, or child, and yet he didn't? Pierre thought he was at least decent looking, but he knew that he was an utter failure at anything that involved romance or dating. He didn't even care about it that much. However, the fact that Lewis had managed it and he had not embarrassed him immensely.

And then he realized that Lewis had a child. Pierre leaned back in his chair and sighed, and one single thought sprung to his mind.

"When she grows up, we're fucked."

Speaking of morons, who had no business reproducing...

"There you are!"

Laz plopped down in the seat next to Pierre, picking the 5 key from his phone out of his teeth.

"I almost don't wanna be back here. I still wanted to go to Belize, but no, you had to get the feds on our back..."

He coughed up the 9 key, and sighed.

"Also, I'm never listening to your advice about 'Sowing my oats' again. I've got bitches from 6 different countries after me..."

Pierre threw his hands up in the air.

"Laz, I didn't say that! Look. It was Vegas, you were drunk out of your mind, I hadn't slept in a week, and you completely misconstrued my statement!" he said. Of course, this wasn't true.

The truth was, Pierre had started lamenting about the fact that he probably wouldn't have any children, because he couldn't even get a single date. That night had been pretty depressing, honestly. Unluckily, he had mentioned that Laz was "probably lucky enough to pull it off", and he did mention that Laz "should try it some time". Pierre, however, didn't actually think it was his fault. He sighed, and continued talking.

"We can visit Belize next year. I've got a contact who can forge us passports and identities, so that should be no problem. Plus, the feds really aren't a problem. And, eventually, I'll pay the bank all the money that I stole. Eventually. By the way, what's in Belize, anyway? I mean, it's mainly just jungles and all that. Dunno why you'd want to go there. I was thinking that next year, we could try visiting Asgard. It couldn't be that hard."

Pierre then realized that some of the teachers were staring at him strangely. It was probably the whole "robbed a bank" thing he had mentioned. Perhaps it was time to change topics. He turned to Lewis.

"Hey, Lewis! Great to see you. You're having a kid? That's great. So, how have you been doing?" he said.

But all parties failed to notice that the black liquid had followed them, pooling in a far corner of the room where it condensed to form a large chair that was not there before. Only a keen eye would spot that however, and all eyes were focused on the horrible monstrosity before them.

Jade had stepped closer, and then pushed her hands out, pointing to the corners of a large square tile in the floor she stood on. "Borders, Malal. Don't walk into them, unless you absolutely need to." She smiled kindly at him, then... More so at Nyarlathotep, and finally turned back to the creature, when she heard a whispering in her mind.

It wasn't your fault, you know... she heard. None of them were. She flinched, but only for an instant. "Oh. That's what you meant, Malal." It's very simple to explain... They didn't like being around someone faster, someone gifted. The voice was persistent, if naught else. And James? she wondered. James was certainly better than a human. For him, it was nothing. He walked away, and left you only a sword to remember him by. For the gymnast in Wales, it was merely business. He wanted to add you to the 'collection'. The Mob wanted money. Everyone wants something. She frowned, and then took another step forward, the walls sliding smoothly with her, then locking down, a telltale shimmer marking them. Still, the Spawn lunged at her, pulled just short by the chains, and her hand dropped to her sword. She pulled it out, and slammed it down, burying the point about an inch into the stone. "Steel..." she told the whispers. "Malal, it's just... intelligent. Not an empath or anything powerful like that." I'm not! I'm just fine... You're only getting hurt by people, like me. But my chains are easy to break, while yours... Yours are made of emotions, and oaths. We're not so different, made by people not ready for us. Yours were too poor, mine were too weak. Together, though... We could be friends, we really-

At this point, Jade sliced her hands down, and the barriers around her fell away. She gripped her sword on the upswing, and brought it up, and then back down in a flash, all of her strength behind it as she sliced down at the beast.

A shimmer, a crash, and a shockwave - all passed her by, and she staggered. -could, Jasmine. Or was it Emerald? Jade, maybe? She flinched, dropped her sword, and scrambled backwards, falling to the floor as the Spawn lunged after her, its chains broken by the charmed strike, and now freed by the ignorance and arrogance of its creators and someone who just wanted a friend. It leaped after and then on top of her, and began savagely biting at her with the powerful jaws that were now freed from behind the muzzle. Her hands came up frantically, but the rapier James gave her was trapped under her hips, and her own sword lay far away. She attempted to raise a shield, but couldn't. She didn't have the concentration, as those razor-cold jaws latched down and tore at her, again and again.

She blacked out, for a moment.

Malal tackled the Spawn off Jade and attempted to subdue the creature and imprison it once more- but this, this was a process. He had fought his offspring a few times, and even at a few weeks old it was a difficult fight. It nearly matched its strength and was far less clumsy in combat that he was. This resulted in a 'war of attrition' between the two, in that they both would lock hands and attempt to force the other into submission. There was also no point in using his power, that succeeded in nothing. What mattered now was ensuring the damned spawn didn't escape and destroy the school- and Malal eventually succeeded in this and pinned the beast against a wall. This allowed Nyarla to imprison it once more and once such was done, Malal collapsed onto the floor from exhaustion.
"GOD DAMNED BEAST! WE'D BE HAPPY TO RAISE YOU! YOU'D BE WELCOMED INTO HEL! BUT NO, YOU HAVE TO ACT IN SUCH A SAVAGE MANNER! YOU HAVE TO MAIM! WHY?! JUST TELL ME WHY!" Malal yelled as he then slammed his fist down on the grown beside him before he picked himself off the floor and walked over to Jade and healed her wounds- although he was certain something likely remained that he couldn't. But that didn't matter right now, what did was to ensure she wasn't dead.
"JADE! You there?" Malal asked as he shook her several times in an attempt to stir her.

Izanagi heard the melody and didn't feel all that different emotionally. He felt as though the goal was to cheer him up, but it wasn't' as though he was depressed or anything. Despite this, he did enjoy the sound, and Izanagi had always been a fan of good music. He appreciated it even more since it seemed that his hearing was much more sensitive to the average person's.

He looked up slightly and watched her play for a food 10 or 20 seconds, then signed and decided to stand up. "Oh look, he finally stood up!" Suddenly, a dull thud and the sound of a grunt rang in Izanagi's head. "Damn it, again with the ball-shots!?"

Kyoko shrugged. "Don't make fun of him because he's not an out of touch idiot such as yourself." Natsu scowled and started smoking again. Why he did it, he wasn't sure, since he gained absolutely no pleasure whatsoever from it. But it wasn't like he could die from cancer or anything, that would be kind of impossible.

Funny how she didn't think of that before... Should have just pushed it back into her hand when the Spawn attacked. She used one hand to cover her eyes, and reversed her grip on the sword, only to find... There wasn't much to reverse. The sword had shattered on the restraints. The blade broke off when she attacked them. Karma, one would say. She would say it was shoddy craftsmanship. She opened her eyes to confirm it, and nodded, then stood up shakily, using Malal for support. She drew her arm back, and the rest of the parts flew towards her, held in a slowly-spinning rotation, as if pressed like a butterfly between glass panes.

She collapsed it to look like (somewhat) like a sword, though it took its original shape, and sheathed it, tying the hilt in with a band of force. Come back, Jade... she heard, and her eyes flashed open, wider, while her head snapped up, staring at it. "It's..." she mumbled, stunned. "It's not an empath. It's a puppetmaster. It takes people over." Don't worry, Jade, I can't hurt you... She backed up, and found herself feeling across the wall, trying to find that doorway, to get out, to escape. "It's... it's just..." she couldn't find words. And for the first time, the first time in a very long time, she was afraid. "Nyarla... Malal... help... Ciel continued playing, even when it seemed like Izanagi didn't seem all that affected by her melody. She didn't mind, sometimes, specially when it came down to people, her music and her voice did not seem to have an effect as good as the one desired, but that didn't mean she had to give up, so she continued playing, noticing that Izanagi eventually looked up.

When Izanagi finally stood up, Ciel took a few moments to finish the song, and then put away her flute carefully before looking back at Izanagi. "Do you feel better now?" She asked.

"Nyarla, you deal with the Spawn, I'll get Jade to the infirmary and attempt to keep this quiet. We don't need more people to be corrupted by the... THING." Malal said as he then lifted Jade up and slung her over his shoulder and walked out of the basement, opening and locking doors as he went.
"It's fine. You'll be alright. The enchanted doors should help any magic it was using wear off and sever the bond. Distance should help as well. I'll take you to the infirmary." Malal told her while he opened and closed the final door before he then took the stairs up to the hall- then swung a quick right towards the infirmary. Hopefully nobody saw him carrying Jade. Last thing they needed was people asking questions about the Spawn.

Maria looked around with an expression of meek curiosity, like a mouse unsure whether it was safe to run into the kitchen to get food. She clasped her hands together and said a quite prayer to whoever was listening above, though she was starting to doubt the concept of guardian angels, or perhaps hers was simply a drunk. Either way, for better or worse she'd found herself inside a school, but unsure what to do. Perhaps she'd make new friends who shared her love of masked heroes. Perhaps she'd find love or heaven forbid make enemies. She'd been so awestruck at the school that she hadn't paid the slightest bit of attention to the headmaster, save for the "You're Elfin Highers now." at the end which had made her realize that she'd zoned out, something that made her feel awful.

Now she was sitting at a table, close to the wall so she wouldn't get in anyone's way . Fear, excitement, anticipation all gnawing at her stomach, making her lose her appetite, she wasn't used to eating with people anyways so it was fine. Maria smiled softly and whispered to herself, "Time for me to cast off my Masked form and change into Rider form. Henshin!" She let out a slightly manic sounding chuckle, quickly coughing to cover it up hoping no one had heard the odd little laugh.

For a bit, Izanagi avoided Ciel's gaze and refused to make eye contact as she played and finished the song. When she finished and asked her question, he slowly nodded. After a few moments, he mustered enough courage to finally say something. "I'm not sure how it couldn't help anyone, it really was beautiful. I mean, not that I'm an expert music critic or anything..." He realized that perhaps she could assist him sometimes in counseling.

His stomach growled, and he sighed inside, having an excuse to run away and escape so he wouldn't have to feel so nervous and shy anymore. He touched his stomach and smiled awkwardly as he pointed to the dining table. "I should probably go eat, I haven't eaten all day. It was nice meeting you, Ciel." He bowed and turned to walk to the dining table and eat the very delicious looking fruit that was grown in the school's garden.

Jade wriggled slightly while Malal carried her. After all, his exoskeleton was digging into her hips because of how he was carrying her, and it hurt. "Malal, I can walk, you know. You are a really good healer, after all." She slipped off of his shoulder, and landed gracefully. Muscle memory is in control, good. That means only higher functions, if anything. She smiled. "Malal, the square of thirteen is 169, the antiderivative of x squared is one-third x cubed, the trachea is the most vulnerable skin-level part on a human, and the capital of New Africa is Gibraltar, right?"

Okay, so her math and biology was good. Geography, not so much. But blame Nyarlathotep, she trusted Nyarla. "A-and thanks for saving me. I was stupid back there..."

"I still don't know how we could produce something so evil. I know we're not exactly the nicest couple, but even Nyarla doesn't try to kill her/his father/mother. I never would dream of harming Hel." Malal noted, incapable of understanding how something so evil could result from not that seriously evil persons.

Laz suddenly felt the tip of a cane bounce off his forehead.

"Mind yourself, child," Lewis ordered, "You might be big and 'scary', but I've got your card."

To prove his point, Lewis proceeded to blast Laz's face with his cryokinetic vision, giving him a nasty case of frostbite and causing him to shiver in his seat like a winter wind had blown through.

"I hate it when you do that..."

Laz covered his hands in fire(Setting off a few sprinklers with the smoke...again) and held them against his face. By odd coincidence, the whole surrounding area started smelling like charred moron.

"Ah...warm."

Pierre looked at him for a moment, unsure what to do. On one hand, Laz was great to hang around with, but he wanted to talk to Lewis. And, really, putting Laz and Lewis within a 50 foot radius of each other was just a disaster waiting to happen.

"Hey, Laz, mind if I go talk with Lewis for a bit? I have a few things I'd like to discuss about my plans as a teacher for the next year. You should have some more of the chicken wings, they're great." he said, attempting to seem uninterested. In truth, he actually just wanted to talk to Lewis about other things, such as Lewis's daughter, but Laz probably wouldn't like that.

After a few moments, he pulled Lewis along down a hallway, and then started talking.

"Hey, it's great to hear about you having kids. That's pretty neat. By the way, I tried punching bears."

He paused.

"It was awesome."

Hildegard stood up next to one of the tables of the auditorium, quietly peeling away the skin of an orange with her balisong. Knives can be used for things other than carving people, y'know. That said, the pesky orange decided to squirt right over Hilde's face. What an idiot.
In a manner that would make the Sensei from Fruit Ninja proud, she launched the orange in the air, before jumping to reach it during its fall. The Siebenachte's blade gleamed in the light of the auditorium. as it sliced the orange in two, then four pieces.

Its juice squirted against the wall in a very unrealistical manner, as Hilde closed the balisong wth a simple motion of her hands, before crossing her arms and watching the result.
Of course, she was sure that one of the students would have approached her to talk after seeing such a show, and she patiently waited for him/her to show up.

"Yeah..." Jade nodded, though her head still rang slightly. She'd be fine. "And I'm thinking it might be a combination. Like how mice are fine, and birds are fine, but flying mice, ugh, just bats are annoying. For example, Nyarla's naturally disposed to manipulation, I'd bet, and you're naturally disposed to command, so it would create a manipulative bastard when you two got mixed up."

She tried to gloss over the fact that Malal had admitted to loving Nyarla, but... Well, it made sense to her. Even if it was mildly annoying.

"Well if you're doing alright, as you know Nyarla is whatever gender you wish and currently she's been... well. You know. Nagging me to push you in her direction. If I didn't know better I'd think her goal in life was bedding every human to ever exist before likely destroying them, you. Probably when you mortals stop agreeing to sex with her. But yes. It's getting annoying and I don't mind at all. It's like an unspoken rule with those of us who have divine blood to jump beds like crazy. The combination also does make sense, but that doesn't explain its outright hatred of us. It's as if it knows it shouldn't be." Malal noted while rubbing the back of his head- Nyarla really was annoying at times. She was absolutely wonderful, but when she wanted someone she was extremely annoying.
"Also, I don't want Crowley to find out about the Spawn, but it's best if he or Minh makes sure you're OK."

Izanagi reached the table without looking back at Ciel, and grabbed a bowl. He looked around the table, completely blown aback at the variety and amount of fruit available. He took a little of almost everything. He took some apple slices, some grapes that were picked off of their stems, some orange slices, some slices of watermelon (mmm, my favorite), and more.

Suddenly, juice landed on his cheek, and he recognized the smell. Orange juice? He looked over at Hilde and watched her cut the orange into fourths He reasoned that she probably just got done cutting it into halves, and that's why the orange juice landed on his cheek. He walked over to her, eating his a couple of slices of apples, and said, "That was pretty impressive there."

Jade nodded, and spoke softly to him, still walking slowly down the hall. "As long as they don't go in my head..." she murmured. "I don't want anyone but me in there." She frowned, and then went over the couple sentences Malal had said. "Wait... Nagging you to push me towards her?" She flushed slightly at the statement - it surprised her, although she had somewhat forseen it. With how often she had been seeing Nyarlathotep over the past two years, she had begun to suspect that there was something going on that the Outer God refused to tell her, and now she knew, straight from Malal. And who knew... It would certainly prove interesting. "I guess I'll go check that out, then." She smiled. "Wait, that sounds wrong! Don't take it that way!"
