In the app I wrote 1-1.5 million soldiers and the OP didnt seem to have a problem with that so I would say my military is about that big. Also I would probobly devout a good 4-5 hundred thousand troops.

I'm just trying to help. Inspiration was the Trojan war... and I think maybe the idea of a nobility crisis could work for the French/Belgian tension. Princesses, especially this late into marrying cousins and whatnot, tend to be fickle. I just thought, perhaps, she leaves with a French adventurer,looking for excitement, and dosen't want to come back. Belgans try to take her back, with France included in the bargin.

Currently, Belgium has a force of 750,000 troops, of which 350,000 are immediately available to be called up into service, and which 200,000 are stationed in the Franco-Belgian border in a highly defencive, reinforced trench system. I can likely conscript another million should I absolutely need to, although the bulk would be conscripts from the colonies.

I don't think you've had Trieste, as Serbia had risen fairly early since there was never any Ottoman Rule. Yugoslav (same as Greater Serbia, they're interchangeable) is fairly industrialized and has a rather well-equipped army unlike their WW1 counterparts. Plus, Austria rules your entire Northern part, so your beef would first be with them before you even reach Yugoslav Trieste.

France being a superpower in that time, I dont think 1-1.5 million soldiers is to many for 40 million people.
