I think you misread that as the US population. In both cases, the Russian population is 100 million +

Oh, derp. I misread the chart, that was 1830. I'm going to go adjust my app now.

EDIT: I'm still underpopulating it, because my Russia is less urbanized.

Would the Ottomans even have the money at this point to afford build it?

Hmm...try looking into information on the colonial holdings that correlate to the places you control.

Try looking at this.

Then I probably wouldn't know, Wikipedia says their are 1.2 million modern day speakers of the language so I don't have a clue, maybe 3 million? Considering you have more land and it isn't just one ethnic group...

Yeah, 1.2 million Tuareg now, but this includes a lot of others. About 70% aren't even Tuareg, so assuming there were 0.6 million Tuareg at the time that gives us 1.5 million.

But maybe I could bring in about 2 million more, seeing as they've got industry around the oases.

I think you should do 3.something million as small pop nations are not fun to be playing, unless they excel at a certain field, and not sure about you so I'd suggest moving it up a bit.

With the huge rate at which the Ottoman Confederacy has been industrializing over the past 50 years, I'd say there's probably an equivalent around the Siani peninsula to service us (and other nations, to an extent). I'll go into details tomorrow.

If Garwall doesn't mind me editing my app, I probably will actually. It can be explain pretty easily by the industrialisation and Bedouin immigration.

Either way, we'll be bringing in lots more people over the next few years.

Also, guys, this is an RP group. So that means if you have an event that you think's worthy of being a thread for everyone to participate in, then go and make an IC thread for it. Don't just stand here looking at eachother like idiots. I'm just kind of chilling in 'Murica right now, might hold an International meeting for Communists/Socialists and the like.
