Having said that I don't want it to be imperialist, my Tuareg probably will be. We'll try and unify a lot of the pastoralists to the south and east under our control, while continuing to industrialise around oases. In this RP, my nation's a lot more technologically advanced than IRL Tuareg, so we WILL have guns. Tuareg with guns. Yeah. Be worried guys :)

The only thing I can think of when envisioning that is "Sandpeople always ride single file to hide their numbers". Sorry.

Well IRL the Tuareg did surprisingly well in resisting the French, so give them guns as well and they'll be a crazy good military force. We'll work to unify large areas of Africa under Tuareg control, maybe stopping when we reach the Congo. At that point we'll try and do some seafaring stuff.

We have no need of Greenland....yet. Instead, we look towards a land of great anger and turmoil, with the intent of pacifying and claiming it in the name of the Anglo-Scanian Union!

Oh goodness me, I'm ashamed of myself for that horrible wordplay. :/

I am the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes of Sicily of Crete of Cyprus of Athens and of Malta. Or, in shorter form, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM), the Knights of Malta, the Knights of St. John, or the Knights Hospitaller.

Anger = Ire
Land of anger = Ireland

And then you have the whole Catholic/Protestant conflict, so it really is a land of great anger and turmoil.

Yeah. Ashamed. :'C

Let me make this abundantly clear; The Hospitaller, in this world and in the real world, are perfectly civil folks with great thinkers who will communicate with anyone or any creed, so long as they do not threaten the sanctity and security of Christendom and the Holy Lands.

Garwall: Oh, and speaking of the map, for a shared backstory to work between the ASU and the Afghan Emirate, we would need a shared border. Could you expand the ASU holdings in India along the western coastline, up to the Afghan Emirate? It'd still leave half of India for the expansion of the Thai Empire.

It was revoked, but when the Ottomans became a confederacy (I'd assume that would happen in the early 19th century when the Ottomans became too big and unwieldy to have just a monarchy, and instead had the old monarchy and a council made up of regional governments (whether those governments were city-states, republics, tribal confederations, or small Emirates or Caliphates).

In Jerusalem's case, it'd probably be run by a predominantly Christian council, which would promote free access to the city (though there's no chance the Knights would have a garrison stationed there again).

I just thought of an excellent idea for my nation. During the Renaissance, 2 great thinkers and reformers escaped execution with their families and their ship crashed on my shores. They brought Christianity and worked with the Oba to b introduce Renaissance ideas. The other rest of my peoples extensive knowledge came from association with the Songhai, who had the worlds first university

Why would they be escaping.....execution....? Am I missing something? Otherwise, it sounds fine.

Aye, then alright. For now, Jerusalem and the pilgramage of Christians is no longer under direct threat. I'd imagine the only Hospitaller presence in the city are the civil corp, doctors and scholars and probably an observer representative on the council, who I imagine are constantly campaigning for liberation from Muslim rule.
