Superior to the British aircraft flown at the time in all but turning radius. A clear winner, IMO.

I'm pretty sure it couldn't fly as high or go as fast as the Spitfire.

I was comparing the Spitfire Mk XIV to the Fw 190 A-8.

Why compare one of the best spitfires to the worst Fw 190? The D was the best one Germany produced...

The major difference is that the Fw(I think...) is faster and has better maneuverability with the drawback of bad turning.

The A-8 was produced in 1944 while the Mk XIV was produced in 1943, so I figured it would be fair.

However even looking at the specs for the D-9 it's top speed was a good 30 km/h slower than the Mk XIV (685km/h to 717km/h) It's service ceiling was also at least 1000 meters lower.

Why argue about this when you could probably be posting in the IC? That's what I'm wondering.

No, you should try harder to make an IC post instead of an OOC post. I've done four paragraph posts on an iPhone before.

I could spend ages making an IC post on my phone, however, as its late at night, I'm suffering from a headache and I don't have anything of any importance to post on the IC, I won't post. Ok?

Didn't say you HAD to, just that you should probably try more.

So, is no one posting in the IC anymore? Cosgravia and Lance are AWOL and everyone else is busy, I guess.

Sorries. I can't find a good place to post for either Tom or Anton, plus school is picking up.

Name: Geoffrey Talbot
Age: 26
Rank: Flying Officer
Physical Description: white, 5'8", slight build, light brown hair, dark brown eyes
Country of Origin: England
Flight/Flight Combat Experience (good sources for experience could be the Spanish Civil War, maybe stunt pilot training, or simply previous Air Force experience): prewar air racer/barnstormer/crop duster, presently a RAF reconnaissance pilot
Ground Combat Experience (Highly recommended, but not entirely necessary - this can be trained): amateur boxer/wrestler, experienced hunter, basic combat training
Specialties (air or ground - communications, demolitions, disguises, languages, etc.): skilled mechanic and driver, good navigator, good sketch artist, can ride and drive horses
RP Experience (not necessary, but helpful): Have done a Napoleonic RP on Facebook
Personal History/Bio (more than one line please): Son of a Sussex farmer, Geoffrey Talbot developed an obsession with speed as a schoolboy. As a teenager he would perform subtle modifications on his father's Austin and take it out racing; here he developed his skills at making hasty repairs to hide the body damage from his father. At 18 he entered Imperial College London to study mechanical engineering, but he was more concerned with the practical aspects of engineering than the theoretical aspects, and dropped out after one year. This greatly displeased his parents, so to avoid their wrath he went to the United States and started racing cars and motorcycles at fairgrounds. In need of steady income, Talbot took flying lessons in order to become a crop duster pilot; his love of speed naturally led to him becoming a barnstormer and even to enter into several air races, where he had modest success flying outdated aircraft against the newest racing models. Following the outbreak of the war, he returned to England to enlist in the RAF and was commissioned as a ferry pilot; during one flight in France, Talbot's unarmed Hurricane was attacked by two Messerschmitts, but through skillful flying he managed to hold the German pilots off until they ran low on fuel and disengaged, allowing him to reach his destination, albeit with a damaged craft. This drew the attention of his superiors, who had him transferred to a photo reconnaissance squadron due to his skills.

Out of curiosity, if you don't have any squadron pilot slots available in the next op, would it be possible for me to RP in some sort of supporting role, like maybe a squadron staff officer or something?

After 3 days of combat he was shot down. He did jump out of the plane but the Germans saw him jump out and did try to hunt him down. In the last day he heard that Holland had surrenderd and he knew only one solution; go to the UK. So he went 100 kilometers west. To do this he had to shoot, sneak and run. Two Jerseys, you're in. Staff officer position is definitely a possibility at this point.
I've been deliberately posting slow these last few days to give Cos and Lance a chance to come back, but they've both been MIA for weeks now, not just from here, but from the actual site too, I believe. But we'll get this going again tonight.

OK guys, here's the deal:

I posted the latest plot-move-along post about 25 hours ago. Since then, there has been a grand total of one other IC post. If this is the level of activity on a weekend, I shudder to think what the future weekdays will be like. I'm not angry at anyone, I understand how busy we can be, especially now that school's a factor. I'm just a little weirded out by how many people have gone utterly and completely silent.

So then, I'm going to say this: I'd like to get this op done in the next week or so. This is variable, of course. If that's not possible - really, if enough people just aren't going to show up - then I may have to put this thing on indefinite hold and get going with a different project. Maybe the 'Nam thing, maybe something over in II. I have several ideas planned out.

I really don't want to do that, though, because I get the feeling that if this thing ever stops, it'll be damn near impossible to get going again. And we've still got 5 years of adventure ahead of us. We wouldn't have even gotten through one if we stop here.

So, people who signed up but were waiting for the op to finish/get to a certain point to introduce themselves: bear with us, and I'm sorry for all the delay. Hopefully, we'll get through it.

And people who have signed up and are in the squadron (with the exception of Altito and Cali/Tilt, both of whom have explained what they're up to to me), let's get some motherfracking POSTING in (although the aforementioned 3 should also get posting too, because more posting can only help, not hurt)!

I'd say we're about 4/5ths done. It's kinda sad we reached such a low level of activity on the IC with not a whole lot left to go.
