It's been RPed up to this point by the rest of us that you're with the squadron; you just haven't spoken at all in any of the posts thus far or done anything notable.
You're already in the formation.
Or alternately, you could just wait untilt eh next op to start in and take the time to actually see how this works.
Also also, in the future, send me questions like this in the form of a TG.

He had military connections, so he could basically get a primo commission with a General's staff by basically knowing the right people/knowing how to flatter them/graduating from the right public schools/having the money to back it up. You barely even need to know how to fire a gun if you have all that going for you.
