What is A'Qing? Also, what of Jonah? He thinks it can be done... it is something that is mostly going to work like what happened on the "Question Mark". If you don't know the story, then look it up.

Gladly! ^-^

The story behind my reference to the Question Mark was a significantly well-known first-time attempt at in-flight refueling. It happened a significant amount of time I believe after WWI, but also before WWII. It wasn't used in WWII because it was thought of as highly inefficient but when all they used were a garden hose and gasoline cans, I'd say they did great! The idea was that one plane fly in formation with another, and besides, in order to do the transfer, sudden variations in flight cause wingwash which then usually leads to an inevitable crash scenario. Part of the reason why people on the edge of a formation have to break first is because to do so i the center not only throws off others, but also because it presents a significant aerial risk to others and the pilot in question. If you put one converted Lancaster or Wellington, whatever it is, on either side of the transport he's blocked in and can no longer maneuver without threatening his life and the lives of those around him. All you need to do is put a few grapples in key positions, positions Jonah would be glad to point out, to nullify any desire to move. Jonah would also be willing to repeat this entire story IC if Alix(Alex?) and Silva want to hear it... though silva should know this if he's a Yank...

The only reason I didn't have Jimmy ask ICly is because I wasn't sure if it was something we all should've known or not.

But yeah, that's a brilliant solution.

Actually the first aerial refuelling was in 1923 between two US Army air Service biplanes, the first practical aerial refuelling was done by Sir Alan Cobham in 1935. He founded his own company in 1934 was refuelling flying boats in the air by the late 1930s, the same system was going to be used for the bombers of the RAF's Tiger Force had the war against Japan continued.

The story reminds me of something I saw on Dogfights once. Basically, this one raft of B-24s had gotten torn up by the Luftwaffe, but their Mustang escorts had managed to finally take out the threat. As the escorts were leaving, one of the Mustang pilots did a maneuver (I totally forget what the term is, for when you partially roll one way, then the other, and then level out), as a sort of salute. But the lead bomber was caught in the Mustang's wash, and broke apart in midair.

yup, wingwash was a big threat that most nobody understood. I mean, we could explain the phenomena, but not the specifics of it for a while...

And Spits being in France in 1939/40, course they were lacking Hurricanes when they filmed the series and had to make do with what they could get their hands on.
