I blend the two sometimes, but on this mostly disposable characters

Probably not. How would you control it? We're all one big organism. However, as technology advances, I think we could think of opening up biological trade-offs.

Okay, I guess I'll do the whole "HEY STOP SHOOTING US! ERHMAGAWD THEY'RE SHOOTING US! SWEET JEEBUS CRUST STOP IT! FUCK SHIT HOLY HELL AND CRUMBLES."
Actually, can I do that?
Well, considering you'd be shouting across quite a bit of rough ocean, and we don't speak the exact same language (different dialects/accents), you'd probably have to do something visual.

Hey, this is the first time the otters have met anyone that doesn't speak Standard, or beyond the Archipelago.
NEROS ATTENTION: Hydragon is going into an otter named Jakob. Use your giant worm ability to make contact between all of us, okay?

Luckily the Hegemony has 6 Official Languages, so it is likely that at least one of my crew could help you work out linguistics

9 meters? That's 30 feet. My ship is 300 feet long....but then again, it wouldn't take much for something with those giant teeth to damage the ship.... :/

I don't get why you made your people like "Humm, I'm a monk, IDGAF"
My people were freaking out.
The Haikala don't fear death, they believe they will join their ancestors. The Neko is terrified and hid. The Lamia are too used to being solitary to have any reaction that involves crying out. The Vika have a hive mind, enough said.

Also, Neros---the Veritch don't like telepathy and stuff like that, so we'll communicate through Jakob's telepathic link---whenever we establish communication with Otterica.....

Another species to the North. The Veritch know of only four species. The Veritch, the Ammar, the Basajuan, and occasionally the elf people to the south (sorry, can't remember the name).
So basically, they hope that if they don't know you, you might know the Basajuan, and recognize the Basajuan treaty flag.
