Create Your Own Country (OoC/Signups)

Hello, I'm the Republic of Hell and welcome to Create Your Own Country (CYOC)!


So, shall we begin? Here's how you play:

1. Try to read everything here! Don't worry, you'll understand everything sooner or later. If you get frustrated at first, there's always a helpful country around to help.

2. Fill out an application, using the rubric a few posts down.

3. Pick some land on which you want to start your country. It can be...
- A specific Earth territory
- A planet of your creation

5. Start playing. Over time, start developing some technology, train more troops, invade land, etc. Don't worry if you're confused at how fast you should advance- feel free to post on the thread or TG me if you have a question.

6. Be creative with your country. Don't forget to develop your country's culture!

7. WHEN YOU START, you have 2012 technology (tanks, guns, ability to travel to the moon, etc.) In this game, 1 page in the IC equals 1 game year.

8. Don't forget to use common sense, or else you may find some hostility from other players.

9. The IC will go up on or near the end of July. I wish it could be earlier, but it can't be, due to personal reasons.

¤ Rules & Guidelines ¤

The rules are mostly common sense, though are still broken rather frequently. *cough* Read them:

1. No overpowering is allowed. No nation is immortal.

2. You can make or join an alliance or international organization, but your alliance's rules only apply to the members in your alliance.

3. No extreme acts of war without retort. The country receiving the blow must be there to retaliate.

4. No popular real-life celestial bodies may be destroyed.

5. You cannot force someone to take on a role they do not want to take on. You control only your own characters and countries unless somebody gives you their permission on the thread.

6. Your troop number cannot exceed your population. Your population must also be sensible and take the size of the land you own into consideration (I will not accept new countries having populations of 1 billion.)

7. Your power is based on:

- Age
- Activeness in posting
- Technology
- Military
- Cultural advancement

8. Projects must be named and posted with brief descriptions, although they may be classified to a certain extent. If a project is a megaproject, its subsections must also be posted with names and brief descriptions. Projects started from this point on will not start unless they have been posted.

9. Please be aware that even if the written rules do not restrict something, remain sensible in your actions. I will provide final judgment.

10. To obtain a new land, the land must be invaded. Only new countries will be able to claim land without any prior actions.

¤ Claiming Land ¤

Use this rubric to claim land. IF YOU DO NOT CLAIM LAND, THEN YOU DONT HAVE A COUNTRY. How is a country supposed to exist without land to exist on?

Guidelines for Claiming Land:

1. Please refer to the unofficial land lists compiled by Porsche102 (thank you Porsche) before claiming land to see what lands have already been claimed.

2. You cannot claim oceans or parts of oceans.

3. You must post the rubric to gain control of a particular land. No land claim will be honored unless you have filled out the rubric.

The following is only for claiming additional lands:

4. Each unowned territory in the CYOC world is considered an independent NPC nation. If you invade a territory, you have invaded another nation.

5. The inhabitants of each unowned territory *will* fight back.

6. Other player-owned countries may aid the independent nation against the invading nation. Be aware if you aid an independent nation of the consequences of being involved in a war.

7. A rubric must be filled out only when a nation has full control of the territory.

¤ Country Power Ranking ¤

Power ranking is based on:
- Age
- Activeness in posting
- Technology & military
- Influence
- Cultural advancement

As you can see, activeness is an important role in your country's strength. The less you post, the less you develop either culturally or militarily (whichever path you wish to take with your country) or developing storylines.

These ranks will not be ranks which stay put. They may change in minor to major ways by activeness or technological and military advancement. This solves the problem of the previous ranking system didn't change at all since it was all mostly based on age alone (which of course never changes). Defeating a country in war will not raise your rank.

YOU MUST BE ACTIVE, or else you will fall in rank.

DEFCON 3: Increase in force readiness above than required for normal readiness
DEFCON 2: Further increase in force readiness, but less than maximum readiness
