To be honest, and fair to Shelton, I think the fact that Stryker hung around to exchange barbs with him put him in a false sense of security. Seems to me that Shelton's thinking runs like, if Stryker had the ability to wipe the group out, he would've instead of talking to him.

Kenny's Current Relationship Status:

Scott - Good friends. Probably his best friend as of now. Has much respect for the man. Complete Trust. Although, Kenny will not hesitate to disagree with something Scott says if it seems like a bad idea. Understands the group shouldn't pin all the problems on him.

Allison - Seemingly on good terms. Mostly speaks to her with sarcastic jokes. Hasn't really apologized for pulling the shard of metal out her leg causing her to bleed out faster, but doesn't necessarily think he should since he did rush to the hospital to save her.

Gabrielle - A very nice lady. She's done great job at keeping the group organized. He hasn't done anything to annoy her yet, which is good. Has high respect for her and complete trust in her.

Anna - Kenny's really quick trust to a pretty face, so yeah. Of course, after the hospital mission, he trust her a whole lot more. Sees her as a very brave woman that is eager to help any way she can.

Thomas - Good friends. Hasn't spoken to him a whole lot since the crash. Very tough son of a bitch though if he survived torture from the Watchers.

Shelton - Doesn't really know or trust him all that well. Hopes his word on the compound is good.

Fernando - Doesn't know much about him, other than the fact he shot Kenny in the face. Maybe he'll prove his worth to the group.

Ashley - Admires her determination to save her sister. Seems to good terms with her.

Johnny - Worried about the guy. Feels like someone should talk to him and keep him company, seeing as how his best friend is gone. Sees him as very reliable, but at the same time very mysterious. He keeps to himself, unless he is needed.

John Boutin - Slightly annoyed by him, even if he is making valid points.

Nick - That guy is cool as shit. He hasn't pissed off anybody. He's a very friendly guy. He tries to pitch good ideas. A real peoples person that guy is.

Zoe - Will do anything to keep her alive. He believes he owes her and her dead brother for letting her get bit on his watch forcing him to cut off her hand.

It's a combination of that AND the fact that he's still pretty unstable and emotionally/mentally shaken. Normally he'd be a better negotiator. Right now though, he's not thinking as much as he should and he's going on emotion rather than logic.

Just to be clear, Kenny has doesn't have much medical knowledge. He worked at best buy in Michigan. Used to do some more physical work, like on farms, when he lived in Louisiana, but decided to move in an attempt to get a less tiring job. Also, he wanted to get away from his family and a lot of depressing memories. Look at how that turned out.
