I have to admit I was considering it for a moment. :lol2:

But since Gabrielle still technically has an untreated busted leg, I have to be nice. She's not in the condition for it.

Yeah, but being forty-something and having just been in an airplane crash can't have done any favours for Scott's physical condition. Experience and training can only get you so far. When the body isn't able, then the body isn't able. Besides, John's no slouch in hand-to-hand. He doesn't have the same degree of professional training, but he has plenty of experience of his own. And given that he's younger, and currently in better physical condition than Scott, I'd wager he could at least hold his own.

'Sides, it's not "I HATE YOUR GUTS" drama, it's "STOP BEING A GODDAMN IDIOT" drama.

Yeah, it's a "STOP BEING A GODDAMN IDIOT" argument. John's being way too narrow-minded on the role of the military, as well as the purpose of the recon.

You use recon when you want to keep track of a group, plan an attack, etcetera. You don't go out of your way to recon people that you want to avoid. It's a great way to alert them to your presence, or at the least, alert them to your knowledge of their presence. That's John's perspective, at least. When the goal is preservation of ones life, one does not actively seek engagement with potentially hostile targets, when said targets can be wholly avoided.

How many times do I have to say "I am not John. John is not an extension of myself", before people actually believe me? Is it because I write in 1st-Person?

Oh, I was just suggesting not getting personally offended, even though Scott might be, is all.

Also, I think I'm switching back to third-person. Need to sit down and practice a bit more with first-person before using it again. Lost my touch.

Let me clarify something about recon for you. It might not seem sensible for a group to conduct recon of a group they're trying to avoid, but believe it or not, it's actually pretty smart. Yes, there are risks, but what if you need to know what you're up against. The French Resistance did it, even though they knew that they were fighting an opponent that was more well-trained and well-armed, but wouldn't you want to see how large of a German unit would be rolling into your town? Recon doesn't always need to be in support of offensive operations, but it's equally useful in support of defensive operations.

That was actually directed at both of you. I get the feeling you don't like each other very much and the IC argument is bleeding over into OOC and sort of exacerbating an already existing general dislike.

And, again, John isn't contesting the usefulness of recon in general. He is contesting the use of recon in their specific situation.

Broken leg, yeah. She didn't say anything because Allison was bleeding to death and needed to be treated first. Then she didn't say anything because everyone was distracted with Scott and John getting into it.
