Well, it was kind of entirely your fault. You were holding a BFG. If you had simply fired it, you'd have killed about 40 of them in one shot and given the others a penalty to hit you. Thus, you'd quite likely still be alive, and Carl probably wouldn't be on the verge of death. Though, enough would still be around that I doubt Julessy would be in any different a situation.

In my defence I didn't think we'd stand a chance in hell against 100 demons so I figured the only chance was to flee...

Chosen Weapon: A morningstar known as Eveningstar. It has magic powers which make it easier to fight despite being a sorcerer.
Chosen Armor: The Cage of Aethrys, a set of armour designed to protect without disrupting spellcasting, although its protective ability is very limited.

You have to be careful when giving yourself powerful abilities, because you might just get a 1 on all of them and you're screwed with a bunch of penalties in almost every category
