School for evolved humans (IC: Part two)

Postby Plactianation » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:54 am

OOC

The school. An island in the pacific ocean, with it's own strip mall, runway, and underground training facility, this facility is used to educate and train evolved humans by the government so that they can truly understand their full potential. The first batch of students were the 'test batch', and are the most dangerous and powerful. Since then, new batches of students have been introduced, but it was made sure that the more powerful evolved humans were spread out amongst the different groups.

Today, however, is the day that the original group of students shall graduate and enter the real world once again. Their existence and progress have been shared with the rest of the world. Small factions have rose that are wanting to do different things about these students.

One group wants to kill them and their kind, but these are composed of the more racist people who are few and far between. They are prepared to go to war with the evolved humans if necessary.

Another group wants to make sure that the graduating students are kept under control, and believe that some of the more dangerous ones should be killed without a second thought.

The final group consists mainly of military officials, who wish to use the evolved humans in wars, in order to gain the upper hand against their enemies.

None of these groups currently have many supporters, but tensions are high nevertheless. The batch of students that are graduating are currently wondering whether or not they should even leave considering the state of the rest of the world, but little do they know that they do not have a choice in the matter.

Aaron stood tall. He didn't like the fact that they had to dress up in the stereotypical graduation clothes. He hated the feeling of wearing so much clothing. He felt it was simply unnecessary. However, he let those feelings slide. It was the last day of the terrible school that he had been in for four years! He was finally free! He couldn't wait to finally be back in the real world, to see his family again, and to finally eat at a restaurant that he hadn't eaten at a hundred thousand times.

Although, there would be some things he would miss. He would miss all the friends that he had made. He would miss the daily fights with the drones, and the fact that he never knew what would happen next. He would miss testing out new limits to his powers. He would miss causing destruction to the buildings that he hated. And, he realized, he would miss Margaret. He had become quite good friends with her, but he felt like he had always wanted to be more than that. He sighed. Too late now. They would probably separate after the ceremony. Suddenly, he heard his name called, and went up the stairs to get his certificate.

___

After the ceremony, there was a huge crowd of people. He recognized some of them as younger students, and some of them as the parents of the students that were going to be leaving. He rushed around, trying to find his own parents. For some reason, he couldn't seem to find them. They simply weren't there. He sighed again. They must have not bothered to come all the way out here to see him a few hours early. He didn't get angry. Maybe they had a surprise prepared for him at their house. He decided to try and find Margaret.

Victoria had smiled with glee, as the certificate was handed to her. Nothing better to make an awesome day even more nice. She actually didn't dislike the clothes used during the graduation. While they weren't very ordinary looking, they still looked very nice, in Victoria's opinion. Still, that long mantle was really awful to walk with.

___

Victoria looked at the giant crowd of the graduated students and their parents. It surely would have been difficult to find her mom and dad, but this time, she didn't have to. The same morning, Victoria's parents had sent an E-mail, informing her that had missed their plane due to a sudden change of terminal in the airport. Patience, they would have partied for her when she would have returned at home.

So, Victoria decided to give some last goodbyes to her fellow schoolmates. She really didn't want to leave that school, even if she was quite nostalgic of her home. All the acquaintances made in four years had been a quite an important of her life up until then.
She looked at the crowd in a saddened manner, before noticing a familiar face in the multitude: Aaron.
"Hey, Aaron!" she shouted at him, quickly approaching his position. "Where are the others? I think that we could throw a little party before parting our ways!"

He continued to scan the crowd, which was starting to die down. The younger students had left almost immediately, with only the headmaster and the faculty remaining with the students and their families.

"Also, what if we bring some bottled fun? I think that most of us have the legal requirements for drinking that!" she suggested, mimicking the motion of drinking from a bottle.
"Still, I really don't know where to get some champagne or similar...maybe the school will gift it to us as a present for graduating?"

Gale Austins, one of the original students and biggest supporters for the school, smiled as he was handed his diploma. When he had first arrived, he could barely control his powers. Now, he could shake the school with barely a thought!

Gale looked around, searching for his family and friends. He had received news that his parents had been murdered by Evolved Human-Haters, afraid they would produce more. He didn't figure his grandparents would be able to travel this far, so he wasn't surprised or dissapointed that he didn't see any of his family there.

Austins looked around, noting Aaron and Victoria talking. He remembered when he first met Victoria. He was in awe by her beauty, and he had been ever since. He walked up behind her, his finger to his lips signalling for Aaron to pretend he wasn't there. As Gale arrived, he slowly slipped his hands over her eyes from behind.

Jason Sletel's face was plastered with a huge grin. This was the day that he was to graduate (for the third time in his life). This time was special though. This was his first time he was graduating from a school for evolved humans. Over the past few years he had become attached to this place and was really going to miss all of the crazy adventures he had here. As his name was called up he looked out into the crowd. Both of his parents were there and beamed up at him with great pride. He was so glad that they had been able to come for this occasion. When he walked down the stairs he quickly ran to his parents and hugged them. Then he walked over to his friends and gave them all high-fives. Hey guys he said. I heard there was going to be a party so of course I came. What time should I be there?

Margaret Weaver, part of the original batch of students that attended the School for Evolved Humans, awaited eagerly for her name to be called. Even though she had to graduate with those silly clothes that people always wore in TV shows and movies, she was particularly happy that she was finally going to graduate that school. And it wasn't because she would finally get out of there, no. She had actually become fond of the school. After all, she had made many friends there, not to mention she had developed her powers to an extent she would never have thought possible four years ago, when she was taken to the school. Once upon a time, she was not happy with the fact that she had been pretty much abducted from home by a man in a black suit and then forced to do things like try to trick a metal block or fight against a robot, and whenever she remembered the hacker incident, she still got a small headache. But now, she was pretty happy that she had been sent there. And now that she had graduated, it felt like a great achievement.

She snapped out of these memories as she heard her name being called. She then swiftly walked up the stairs, with a big smile on her face, and went to take her certificate. It was over now. She was happy, but also a little sad that she would no longer see any of this anymore.

When the graduation ceremony was over, Margaret looked around. There were certainly a lot of people around the place, most of them were younger students, more people that would attend to the School for Evolved Humans, while others were parents of the people that would leave, such as herself. She tried to spot her parents amidst the crowds, but she found herself unable to do so, so she gave up on it. They probably got delayed or something like that. It didn't particularly matter.

Since she was unable to find her parents, Margaret decided to look for her classmates instead. She hadn't been able to talk to any of them during the ceremony, after all. She soon spotted Aaron, her best friend in all of the school. Using her powers to trick his mind into not detecting her, she ran up to him and tackle hugged him.

"Boo!" She said afterwards.

"Oh!" Victoria exclaimed, slightly startled by her view being suddenly blocked. After realizing what was happening, Victoria smiled. With a quick motion, she stomped Gale's foot in a strong manner, before moving her body forward, sure to escape his grip.
All those self defense courses were quite nice to apply in daily life.

Aaron felt himself falling to the ground, and someone tackling him from behind. Before he crashed into the ground though, he forced the earth up to his hands, allowing him to balance himself again. He turned around, and smiled seeing that it was Margaret. He should have known that she would have disguised herself from him.

"Hey Margaret. Figured you'd try and hide from me." He said jokingly.

He suddenly remembered that there was supposed to be a goodbye party.

"Hey, Victoria wants to have a goodbye party in her room. You want to go?" He asked.

"Well, aren't you quite the deductive one?" Margaret said in response to Aaron's comment about her hiding from him, in a joking manner as well. She was slightly dissappointed that he didn't fall to the ground, but she was happy to be with him.

"And Victoria's going to have a good-bye party in her room? Sure, I'll go with you. It sounds like a splendid idea!" She said, enthusiastic about the idea. She would get to see her classmates, the people with which she had gone through the experience that was the School for Evolved Humans, one last time.

"Well, at what time is the party going to be held? I hope not now, I don't want to go dressed like this." She commented afterwards.

Aaron smiled.

"I'm pretty sure that she'll give everyone the time to change. I'm going back to my room first to change anyways. Did your parents show up? Mine didn't, but I don't know why."

He spotted Victoria and Gale talking. He waved at them.

"Hey Victoria! What time's the party?" He asked.

The room was almost completely empty, with only the students left, since the faculty and the parents had gone off to discuss about what the children would do after they left the school.

Margaret nodded after hearing Aaron comment that Victoria would probably give everyone some time to change into more casual clothes. When he commented that his parents didn't show up, though, she frowned, more because of him than because of herself. "Oh, well, no, they didn't, but it isn't a big deal, really. Their flight was probably delayed or something to that effect. I doubt anything serious happened." She said.

Afterwards, she heard Aaron asking Victoria the time of the party. After that, she turned to Aaron, with a more serious expression on her face, though still a little cheery. "So... What will you do when you get out of here, Aaron? Just go back with your family?"

Aaron was thoughtful for a few seconds.

"I'm not sure. My family and I didn't talk very much, but I doubt that there's much of a life left for me with my parents. The school gave us college degrees with our diploma, so I'm not going to college. I might just try and find a nice city to live in, and live on the outskirts of the town. What are you planning on doing?" He asked her.

Margaret listened to what Aaron said he planned to do once he finally left the School for Evolved Humans, frowning slightly. They'd probably be unable to see each other for a while, which wasn't something she was looking forward to. However, her frown dissipated when he asked him what she was planning to do, and this time she was the one who was thoughtful for a few seconds.

"Well, I guess I'll probably return to my family, just for a while. I haven't seen my brother in a long time after all. After that... I don't know, maybe I'll just find a nice place to live, like you?" She stated. "I guess we'll both need to find jobs, huh?" She commented afterwards.

Hood stood through the entire welcoming cermeony with the same tired, emotionless eyes. As the chancellor expounded on the school's potential in the future he stared straight into the distance, his thoughts elsewhere. He remembered sitting in a bloodstained chair as a hand (...possibly his mothers'...?) rose feebly in an attempt to hold him. Then a crash and the whirl of flying armoured bodies...

The spontaneous clapping awakened him from these thoughts. The other new students were politely clapping at the end of the chancellor's speech. He could hear some of them slightly amplified, disturbing his own thoughts. He redirected the flow of the sound away from his immediate area, bringing silence once again.

But the movement of chairs and the activity of the crowd forced him to follow his allotted class through to the drab, grey buidlings. Inside, he listened politely to his teacher's own little speech, but absorbing nothing. Later, after lunch (which was a silent affair, thanks to his sound redirections) he trudged downstairs to the underground training facility, where new challenges awaited his attention...

"Hey Victoria! What time's the party?" He asked.

The room was almost completely empty, with only the students left, since the faculty and the parents had gone off to discuss about what the children would do after they left the school.

"Uhm, in about two hours, ok? I'll go to the school's bar and ask for some champagne or snacks, of course" Victoria replied.
"I'll also try to bring a stereo with music on it. I think that this party will be awesome. lads!" he said cheerfully, looking at Aaron and Margaret.

Aaron noticed Margaret's frown, but had no idea why she was frowning. He then listened to what she had to say about what she would do.

"I guess we will, but what company, other than maybe a demolition company or a construction company, would want to hire me now? Pretty much everything that we've done has gone on television, and my powers have been portrayed as very dangerous."

He smiled.

"But hey, that's the future. Let's worry about that after we leave the school for now..." Aaron said, trailing off.

"Is time to get ready for the party." He stated.

He started walking towards his room.

"I'm gonna get changed and see if I can find anything fun for the party. See you there!" He said to Margaret, waving behind his shoulder.

When he reached his room, he closed and locked the door. After the hacker incident, Aaron's roommate was changed to another room, and was not replaced. He quickly got changed into a brown t-shirt and a pair of navy blue jeans. He looked around his room, trying to find something that could be fun at the party. Finding nothing, he decided to stop by one of the convenience stores in the strip mall, hoping that he could find something. He found a few bags of chips, which he grabbed, and suddenly it hit him. He had ordered a cake from a bakery that was on the mainland. Once the bags of chips were back in his room, he headed down to the basement, passing by a class of new students on the way. He headed to an area specifically designed for him to make his trips to the mainland, and concentrated. Suddenly, the earth enveloped him, and he was quickly transported towards the mainland. He arrived in the town of the bakery, making sure that it was in the outskirts so that no one would recognize him. He walked to the bakery and grabbed the cake, thanking the baker as Aaron payed him.

Smiling at the cake, Aaron started heading out of town. On his way there, however, he overheard a conversation about evolved humans which seemed to include a lot of racism. Aaron quickened his pace. When he reached the outskirts, he went back into the ground. He appeared back inside of the school only moments later, with the cake in his hand. He sneaked back to his room, making sure none of his classmates saw him. Once inside, he inspected the cake. It was chocolate, with vanilla frosting on top, and was quite large. It had cost a lot of money, but would be worth it after the years of eating the same food.

________

Two hours later, Aaron headed over to Victoria's room, with the bags of chips in hand. He didn't want anyone to know yet that he had gotten a cake, that would be a surprise for later. He knocked on the door to Victoria's room.

Did you bring anything else? I managed to get a fine bottle of champagne from the Strip Mall. We'll open it at the end of the party of course." Victoria said, adding a little giggle.
"I also took some bottles of coke. Not diet one, of course." she added, checking the fridge in her room for a bit. "Anyways, do you know when Margaret and the others will come there? I really can't wait!"

Aaron stepped inside and put the bag of chips on the table.

"Sounds good, I'm looking forward to getting the party started."

When asked if he knew where anyone else was, he replied:

"I can feel some of them coming this way. My ability to sense footsteps is still pretty week, but, as far as I can tell, at least one person is on their way here right now."

Tyson Fulton sat with his feet resting on the chair in front of him, waiting for his name to be called. He would of flown off the island about an hour ago, but the last time he had tried that he had been tazered and dragged back to the School. When his name was called he floated up, his fiery wings flapping so he could remain airborne, collected his certificate and floated of to find something to keep him occupied, not bothering to look for his parents, as if they would turn up.

"Ah...you're Tyson, that guy that could become a flaming bird or similar?" Victoria said, giving a little smile.
"I heard about you. Anyways, how did you know of the party?" she asked, letting Tyson in.
"Also, did you bring something to eat or drink?"

"Yes, hello, and not exactly become, more.." and he extended his wings, light burst from them and a wave of heat rolled around the room. "I didnt know their was a party, I just turned up, as for food or drinks, well, let's just say that I doubt your guests would appreciate my tastes."

"Let me guess...you like spicy food, don't you? Don't worry then, I have lots of chili sauce!" Victoria said, laughing.
"Anyways, the guy there with me is Aaron. He is an earth manipulator, you know? Very interesting stuff. Still, I really can't say what he could do in the middle of the sea!" she added, giggling.
"And regarding me...well, I control ice and cold. Chill, I'm not a frigid girl, eh!"

Tyson didn't smile "Actually, I only eat insects, bugs, worms and charcoal." he nodded at Aaron when he was introduced and said to Victoria "You're British, your accent gives you away."

"Ugh, why do you eat all those ugly things? I mean, you have the power to become a Phoenix, but you aren't a bird!" Victoria said, making a very sound "bleah!" as she spoke.
"And anyways, yes, I am British. English, specifically. I hope that you don't have anything against proper ladies..." Victoria added, giggling.
"Oh, I can't wait for the others to come here..."
