1865: Eine Zukunft an der Sonne [IC/CLOSED]

"A house divided against itself cannot stand" are famous words spoken by Abraham Lincoln at the Gettysburg Address... however the day of his speech in this timeline... was replaced by something else. A treaty of status quo antebellum between the United States of America, and the Confederate States of America. No territorial disputes were settled, and as such, the territory resembles that of the secession date. The Arizona/New Mexico colony continues to bounce back and forth between CSA and USA control as there is no real agreement on who got that piece of land -- The US says it's theirs by the "right of the Mexican cession", while the CSA says that "They won it in the war".

Meanwhile in Europe, the North German Confederation eyes it's "cultural" territory consisting of the South German states and French Alsace-Moselle, as the Balkans continue to grow more unstable under Ottoman Rule with every passing day.

In the East, an Empire is rising... to clash with greater Empires.

Two men from the future of the United States in OTL have come at the demands of the Alien Space Bats to lead a new... pride hurt and emotionally scarred United States to a new destiny... One that is up to them... as for Europe... Things may go as destiny intends.... If only for this time of our existance.

November 1954

Dwight Eisenhower sat alone in the White House's Oval Office, writing out some things that would set up more American spying within the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The night grew darker and thunder began to rumble as a faceless figure wearing a trenchcoat appeared in the room, the two Secret Service defenders dead behind him. Eisenhower said, "Are you a Soviet assassin?"

The man smiled and said, "No, Dwight. I am not... I am here to offer you one chance to bring America a new destiny... to change the future of your country... in the past." Eisenhower raised an eyebrow and said, "What?"

The man grinned and said, "March 4, 1865. Does this date mean anything to you?" In a flash, Eisenhower and the figure were gone.

November 9, 1989

Ronald Reagan was relaxing in his villa in California. The former President was enjoying his retirement, and was watching on CNN, the "Fall of the Berlin Wall", a breaking news segment. He smiled and drank from his glass of water and watched, when the power went out. He stood up and called, "Nancy?" He walked into the kitchen where Nancy was unconscious with a man in a figure standing nearby. He said, "Evening, Mister Reagan." Reagan said, "Who are you... and why did you kill my wife?" The man smiled and said, "Your wife is alive, Mister Reagan... You have a mission in the name of America to do tonight... in 1865." In a flash, he was gone too.

March 3, 1865

Appearing in a White House basement, The man, Eisenhower and Reagan appeared before each other. The man said, "Yes. Dwight... meet Ronald." Ronald Reagan said, "Dwight D. Eisenhower... General of Allies during World War II... It's a pleasure to meet you." Eisenhower looked at Reagan and said, "Who's he?" The man said, "This is Ronald Reagan, the President responsible for the fall of the Soviet Union, and for bringing America through a golden age... I have much to explain... Come."

March 4, 1865

Dwight D. Eisenhower was standing before a Bible and a Justice of the Peace. He placed his right hand on the Bible and said the same thing he said in 1953. "I, Dwight D. Eisenhower, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, so help me god." The people cheered, and Eisenhower stood before the masses of the United States... but not the one he was born into... The Man from Abilene was lost for a moment when words struck him... words of his predecessor in this time.

"A house divided against itself cannot stand, something that rings more true than ever today. The Southerners have left our house, with each side unable to overcome the conflict that has been a problem to our nation since the Continental Congress. We stand today at the frontier of a golden era, to restore America's pride, glory and strength. Let it be known here today that America will not sit idly by and watch everything we've worked for, for nearly 100 years, go to waste. We are the Land of Freedom, and of Liberty." The crowd burst into cheering as Eisenhower and Reagan walked towards the White House, both of them solemn at their challenge laying ahead.

Eisenhower said to Reagan, "Friend, we have adversity to overcome. This country is hurt from the Confederate victory... something we never had the chance to understand... or deal with in our timeline..." He frowned and looked at Reagan who nodded and said, "We must take this strife the same way we have dealt with other conflicts... Korea and the Cold War." Eisenhower nodded wisely....

Mexico City, The Empires capital
It was a sunny day in mexico, the war had been over for 2 years the compromise between the liberal south and conservative south still stood with the treaty of veracruz. President Benito Juarez still live in his presidential palace in Veracruz and dealt with republican matters there. Thanks to him welfare, health care, social security, and pensions were introduced. The military was greatly reformed to include the several austrians, french, and british living in the country. France had invested its work into the country and it paid off. The country was interested in neutral relations with the U.S but more active with the CSA considering the past of US-Mexico in earlier years. Maximilian strengthened mexicos political system introducing a congress with some power involved legislation. However the reforms toward land owners, slavery, the church, and business were repealed. The supreme court in mexico city itself was dealing with landmark cases improving the peoples life and the Emperors power. In order to appear more mexican to the people he truly loved he enacted a greater citizenship law and order the construction of several projects not just in the urban areas but for the peasents as well.

In Richmond, much jubilation was everywhere as Southerners rejoiced in their victories and the end of the destructive war which had racked them for the past few years. By the end of the conflict it had seemed a complex situation which the Confederate States were locked in, but it all came together to form the great victory which had been wanted since the beginning. The Confederacy, no longer much of a confederation, now began to look for allies farther South and to make compromises with the north on territorial claims as well as to perhaps lower the animosity between the two nations, which should not be rivals but brothers, as Jefferson Davis explained to his people.

"It isn't proper for our northern brothers to remain our enemies. We must make due work towards restoring the bonds which are only due between our great nations on this American continent."

A delegation was sent to Mexico City to have post-war negotiations on future relations, and a delegation was also sent to Washington, D.C. with the instructions to press for Kentucky and West Virginia to join the Confederacy, but to end claims on Arizona, Oklahoma, Missouri, and any other states where claims did not remain. These were, however, not negotiable in the eyes of the Confederate office of diplomats, as it seemed preposterous to simply relinquish claims on everything which had been gained, and, in their eyes, reforming Virginia to be the strongest of states in the Confederacy was a worthy cause, so by taking back its components from the north, this could be done.
"Conscious of my own weakness, I can only seek fervently the guidance of the Ruler of the Universe, and, relying on His all-powerful aid, do my best to restore Union and peace to a suffering people, and to establish and guard their liberties and rights." - George B. McClellan

The North German Confederation, Ruled by the Iron hands of Bismarck and William I, 30 million German people are under the North German Confederation's banners. Its goals are to form Germany into a powerful world entity, Like it's suppose to be. It's goal is half suceeded.

March 4, 1865

The German Confederation has had for some time retained a alliance with Austria due to the two German nations being quite similar, However, Recent disagreements have set the alliance back. The Confederation has set its sights on the southern German states of Baden and Wutterburg, However, They are still in the "Austrian sphere of influence". The German Kaiser Wilhelm I talked with Bismarck about the option of ending the alliance with the Austrian crown...

Meanwhile, The major industrialization of the Confederation continues at large, Factories spring up along with railroads as well by Capitalists, Railroads are a vital part of the economic and military forces of the Confederation, Goods from farms and factories are spread all across the Confederation. Also, At the moment around 14,000 troops are mobilized in the Rhineland, 16,000 in Silesia by standards of readiness incase of a French, Austrian, Russian, British, ETC... attack.
