Xavier Von Raven

Postby Fraire » Thu Mar 06, 2014 8:41 pm

Xavier's mom and dad dropped him off at the shuttle for the school.

Mom: We'll miss you, son
Dad: Remember to meet lots of weird friends while you're there *chuckles*
Xavier: Miss you!

Xavier got onto the shuttle and waited to be taken to this new school. After finally arriving, Xavier got out of the shuttle and took in a deep breath of air. "This is the start of a new day", he said with a smile

Seth raised an eyebrow,"Clear on all but one thing. I don't know how to measure things in meters," He said,"But I'll just go out a ways, scout around, and then come back," Seth said, heading off in to the forest, picking up logs that he thought would make for good fire-building along the way.

(Jay)
Jay went where Sarah lead him, tripping occasionally, but managing not to fall over. He held tightly to the wood she gave him, trying not to drop any. When she asked about finding shelter, he shrugged,"No clue," He said,"I don't even really know what would work as a good shelter. I don't think that's something I can really help you with..." It would probably be particularly difficult for him, as he couldn't exactly just look around for something that would make a good shelter. "We should probably avoid caves, though."

(Hunter)
Hunter pulled a knife out of his pocket, tilting his head slightly. "Try to get sticks of all sized. I'll show you the best way to build a fire when possible. And try not to get lost," He said jokingly, before heading off in to the forest, gathering up sticks of all sized. He also used the knife to get some shavings from a tree. After a while, he had gathered all he could carry, and began to head back.

(Cole)
"Not everyone. Too many people," Cole replied, shaking his head. He nodded to what Tyler said about making themselves easy to find, and gave a small chuckle, though is seemed to be lacking humor. He followed Tyler through the forest, picking up sticks here and there. Eventually he sort of began to fall behind, and by the time Tyler reached the beach, Cole was just sort of gone. He re-appeared shortly later, carrying a pile of sticks and a couple handfuls of dried moss. He dumped the logs on the sand, then tilted his head at Cole. "How big?" He asked,"I can start a f.....fire," He said, trailing off slightly as he spaced out, looking up towards the sky.

(Leroy)
Leroy was silently thinking that Josh was kind of whiney. He didn't have his powers, so what? It was something he was going to have to learn to do without for now, in case they ended up somehow in a situation like this without their powers. Why was it such a freaking big deal. "Quit complaining about your powers," He said,"The whole purpose of this class is for you to learn how to survive with normal means." He gave a nod,"Alright. Well, you are in charge of teaching Cassie what you know," He said, heading off in to the woods to check on another team.

He came across Michiko. Seeing what she was doing, he grabbed her hands before she could actually take a drink. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," He said, letting go of her hands and straightening up,"Water carries germs that could make you sick, and making yourself sick isn't exactly a good way to survive. You have to boil it to boil away the germs first, and then strain anything you might not want to drink out of it first. I will show you how once we get back to your camp," He said.

(Simon)
"Who gives a fuck if it's a real name?" Shade snapped,"'Real' names are boring." He gave her a sort of affirmative nod when she said that he was the self-proclaimed leader, then began to place the rocks in a circle, marking out where the fire pit was.

(Iden
I can't, Iden said, The teacher turned on some kind of power suppressor.
Times are looking grim these days~

Sarah nodded. "Yeah, I wouldn't like to run into a bear or something like that. I like dark places but it isn't worth the risk." She agreed, and then looked around, wondering how exactly they could build a shelter themselves. Or rather, how she could build a shelter, though she wasn't going to say that. Eventually, her eyes fell on a large fallen branch, which gave her an idea.

"Oh, maybe we could build one using leaves and branches? And I'm sure there's vines around here somewhere." She suggested, nodding to herself as she went over and picked up the fallen branch. It was straight, mostly, and she supposed it would work fine. She then went back to Jay, placing her hand on his shoulder reassuringly. She didn't want him to feel lost. Any more than he probably did now, anyway.

"But anyway, we should do it close to the stream, so that we won't get lost whenever we need water. You can hear where the sound of water comes from, right? Just start walking in that direction, and I'll make sure you don't fall over, don't worry." She assured him.

And have you ever thought about the fact that maybe the concept of these drugs being illegal substances don't make sense when things like alcohol and smoking are perfectly legal, even though oftentimes they are worse than drugs themselves? Just think about all of this for a moment" Cassandra said, watching him closely, hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

The guard sighed when Cassandra chose to argue instead of just coming quietly. And she also seemed to vastly overestimate just how much power he had to decide what was and was not allowed on the station. He rather like his job and would prefer not to get transferred somewhere else just because some girl wanted her drugs.

"If withdrawal becomes a problem you can talk to the people in the infirmary about that," he said. "And I said nothing about the legality of the substances, that is entirely irrelevant. They are forbidden for students to possess, and that goes for tobacco and alcohol as well, so you will not be allowed to possess them. Do you understand?"

Xavier got onto the shuttle and waited to be taken to this new school. After finally arriving, Xavier got out of the shuttle and took in a deep breath of air. "This is the start of a new day", he said with a smile

The hangar bay that Xavier stepped out into was devoid of people, except for one man dressed in a black uniform who seemed to have been waiting for him. He approached as soon as Xavier exited the shuttle.

"Hold still for a moment, please," the man said and then pointed a small device at Xavier's face for a moment. "Mister von Raven, welcome to the Academy for the Empowered," the guard said after waiting a moment for the device to identify Xavier. "Follow me." The guard showed Xavier to a security checkpoint, quite similar in appearance to what one might see at a regular airport though it was actually far more advanced. "Please place your luggage and anything you are carrying on the conveyor and then step through the gate," the guard instructed.

Tyler
Tyler was glad to see that Cole could be quite helpful, having gathered a fair amount of flammable material to start a fire with. He dumped the sticks he had picked up on the sand as well and then took a moment to survey the beach for anything useful, but he didn't see much. They'd have to search the forest to find material for a shelter, it seemed.

"Awesome," he said when Cole said that he could start a fire. "Just focus on getting it started for now, we can pile on more wood and stuff when we need it bigger. I'll get started on finding some material for a shelter." Then he headed into the woods to start looking for material, though making sure that he didn't lose track of where he was and get lost. There were a lot of plants with big leaves in the forest, which would be useful as roofing for any shelter, and also quite a few vines, handy as ropes when nothing else was available.

Josh glared as Leroy walked away, before swearing under his breathe and turning to Cassie.
"Gods above, he's such an ass." Chewing his lip in thought for a moment, he then smiled slightly. "We need to find shelter. Maybe.... Look for a fallen branch, a big one. We can prop it against a tree and make a lean-to that way." Quickly kneeling down, Josh dragged his hand against the ground for a moment. "Bit damp, but not much we can do. Ahhh, I fucking hate this no powers shit."

"He does have a bit of a point, though..." Cassie started to say while looking towards the ground. Then she realized how what she said could come off as much worse than she meant it to, and she started replying hurriedly before Josh got mad at her or something. "I-I mean about it being good to learn how to do some things without your powers, like this class" She bit her lip like she was worried he would be mad at her or something, even though there really wasn't any reason for him to be.

Cassie listened to Josh as he gave some suggestions of what to do, but when Josh swore, she twitched uncomfortably, even though she knew it was silly to have a reaction to someones swear words. They were just words, after all. But she always found herself twitching in response to people swearing, or sometimes thinking of memories...

"I'll try and find a branch, but I'm weak so I may not be able to carry it well..." Cassie said, running her hands together before wandering off a bit to look for something that could be of use, but she had a hard time leaving too far away from Josh. It was like she was afraid to get out of sight of someone else when she was in the woods. As much as she loved nature, the forest also scared her, even in a simulation.

Still, she continued onward, looking for the best branch possible. Eventually she found something she thought would be of use, but she wasn't certain, and almost decided to ignore it altogether and find something better in case it wasn't, but in the end she heaved it into her arms, or more like mostly dragged it, and came back to where Josh was located, dropping the rather large branch that made Cassie look even smaller near Josh. Cassie wasn't really short as much as she was obviously getting unhealthily skinny. Height-wise she was about average for her age. She just looked so small so often, likely due to a mixture of her not eating much and just her personality and sad looks altogether.

"Does this work?" Cassie asked Josh

Cassandra
Cassandra let out a huff. Well, that went about as terribly as it could possibly go. So much for good luck today She thought to herself. But she tried to remain all innocent and like she hadn't been a bit of an ass trying to push to keep her drugs. Well, about as well as she, a metal head, who dressed in mostly dark clothes could possibly pull off an "innocent" look.

"I think you severely underestimate how terribly bad having all these withdrawals piled on me at once will be" Cassandra said, shaking her head lightly. "But fine. As you command" She slipped out a sigh and handed him her lighter, since she didn't exactly have a use in it anymore. She actually looked a bit scared now. Not because of the fact that she hadn't exactly given off a good first impression. She didn't really give a shit what authority figures thought of her. No, she was scared because of all the withdrawals being piled on her at once. It wouldn't be pretty, that's for certain. Sure, it was better than freaking continuing her addictions, but at least if she actually tried to even bother to give a shit about her own body for 5 seconds, she could slowly ween herself off of everything, not be forced off of it all at once.

"Can I at least get a vaporizer cigarette or something?" Cassandra asked.

Jodelle
"Okay...Whatever" Jodelle shook her head lightly. Wow, this guy was an ass. She was also starting to think he was a bit insane. Giving yourself a name like Shade didn't exactly make you come off as a pleasant person, and his personality certainly wasn't helping matters any.

Damn... Jodelle thought, then running out of things that she should say. Deciding that she would just fall silent and gather wood for now, she did exactly that. She started to collect some wood, and eventually got enough, or what she thought was enough anyway, and brought it back to Shade.

"This should be enough" Jodelle said, dropping the pile of wood onto the ground next to the firepit Shade had made.

"You'll have to talk to the medical staff about that," the guard answered when Cassandra asked about vaporizer cigarettes. He didn't think they would let her have something like that either, but he hoped that she would be satisfied with that answer and stop asking questions so he could get back to more important matters. In his opinion letting someone like her attend the Academy was probably a bad idea since she seemed to be a really hardcore junkie and all. It didn't seem like she would ever actually be able to live up to what they wanted from the students.

"If you don't have any further questions, please follow me."

The scanner indicated that Xavier didn't have anything forbidden on his person or in his luggage. There was a small rock he was carrying that he could probably use his powers on to throw with some speed, since he was a terrakinetic and all, but that was hardly more dangerous than what some other students could do.

"Alright, everything seems fine," he said to Xavier, "please grab your luggage and follow me, I'll show you to your room." He grabbed a small plastic package from a nearby table and then led Xavier out of the hangar bay and to an elevator a short way down the corridor outside. When they were in the elevator and headed up the guard handed the package to Xavier. "That package contains a map of the school, your schedule, and a personal keycard for you," he explained.

When the elevator stopped he showed Xavier to a room in the west wing of the vigilante dorm. "This is your room," he said, "use your keycard to open the door. Do you have any immediate questions before I go?"

Dominic
Dominic noticed that the new girl who had arrived late to class didn't seem very pleased with just following Leroy and him around. It seemed a shame to give her such a bad first impression of the Academy so he decided to see if he couldn't help out some.

"Say, Leroy, maybe I should partner up with Miss Huang so she can participate in the class as well?" he suggested to his colleague.

"Understandable" Cassandra said, seeming satisfied enough, despite the fact pretty much everything she tried to push for her had failed. But she still looked a bit worried about being forced into a state of having major withdrawals, though she tried not to think about that right now. And she was done with her questions, so the guard was lucky. At least for the most part. She gave a nod of her head and started to follow him wherever he lead her.

"Apologies for the trouble" Cassandra said to the guard as they walked, but her apology didn't sound 100% genuine. Which may partly have to do with the fact she had pondered even apologizing in the first place, but she figured it might be a good idea to at least arrive with not looking like a complete pushy jerk.

"You can't possibly tell me you never tried to push your luck as a teenager. It's kind of a part of growing up, you know. I hope you can understand my side of things and why I'm not all too fond of the idea of having to go through all of my withdrawals at once. I meant no hard feelings, just being a reckless teenager trying to push their luck. We all make stupid mistakes in life, right? I think you know what mine is" Cassandra said to the guard, having an awful big conversation with just a normal guard.

The guard didn't say anything in response to Cassandra's little rant. Everyone did some stupid things when they were teenagers, that he would admit, but there was a rather large difference between sneakily getting drunk on wine coolers and becoming addicted to several kinds of illegal hard drugs. Only after they had reached the elevator to go up to her dorm did he speak, while handing her the standard welcoming package.

"This package contains a map of the school, your schedule, and a personal keycard," he explained after handing her the small plastic package. The elevator then arrived at the vigilante dorms and the doors opened. "Follow me," he said.

He showed her to a room in the east wing of the dorm. "This is your room," he said simply, gesturing at the door. "Your luggage will be brought up as soon as it's cleared through security. If you have any further questions you can ask any member of the staff. Have a good evening, Miss." With his bit said he walked off, his steps hurried as he headed back towards the elevator.

Alex nodded, and went the other way, making a mental note of which direction their starting place was. He looked around the floor, and gathered up different sizes of sticks and twigs for the fire. After a few minutes, he found his way back to the start point, to find Hunter already laying his firewood out.
"I'm back, with firewood. What's next?" Alex asked.

___"Well, use yards instead," Makoto stated as there was effort made to search the area. What Makoto's eyes particularly searched for was a palm tree short enough to be cut, or perhaps a bird that became incapable of flight. The sun was not as bad amid the shadowed tree-cover--sunlight permeating through the empty spaces of the canopy. The shaded spaces showed that the island were absent of grass and sandy, made of corals weathered over many years. The trees, though taller than Makoto to such an extent that the canopy was out of his reach, was still not particularly high.

___"That's it; your laziness is getting me nowhere!" Taylor huffed in Vern's face after such a long period of inaction, bringing the knife with her. A minute after she stormed-off, Taylor had a smile on her countenance.
"That was easier than I thought," Taylor stated with satisfaction. With her partner gone, doing anything else was going to be compared with somebody who did nothing, though that was not the only reason for her satisfaction.

___"If I may so present," Bramwell stated with eyes closed, "the fruits of scouting." Bramwell stated as he took a bow to Sakura, the presentation in view. The figurative fruits were a village. With warehouses, a wharf, and a harbor, the village presented shelter and possibly delights for scavenger's delight. As the two advanced toward the village, Bramwell was just satisfied that he remembered this location, yet Sakura had the thought of a hypothetical Leroy's introducing new arbitrary rules to punish their find.

Josh looked up when Cassie returned, before getting back to his feet and taking the branch from her. Where he had been sitting, a small pile of dry grass and strips of bark were piled up, surrounded by a ring of fairly large stones and lumps of dirt.
"Was trying to get a fire going, but I can't get a spark," he said, dragging the branch over to a tree, before wedging it against the trunk and the ground.

"I don't have an opinion either way about dark places," Jay said lightheartedly. He just sort of stood and listened when Sarah talked about making a shelter and went and picked up the branch. "Sounds like a plan to me," He said, in response to how she said they cold do it. He didn't mind that much when she didn't have her hands on his shoulders, because he had been blind for about a year or so before discovering his echolocation, so he was somewhat used to it. The only reason he had any problems with it being disorienting at all was because he had gotten used to his echolocation.

"Yeah," He said in reply to her question about him being able to hear where the water was coming from. He started slowly and carefully making his way toward the sound of water.

(Cole)
Cole started adjusting the wood and moss in a particular way, then took a shoelace off his shoe, tying both ends to a stick. He then twisted another stick in the the shoelace, and placed the end of the second stick against a piece of wood that was on the ground. With deep concentration, he began to move the first stick back and forth, like a violin bow, causing the second stick to spin against the bottom log. After doing this for a bit, smoke began to rise from the moss, which he'd placed under the bottom log. He blew gently on it, and a flame appeared. Giving a small smile, he picked up the moss and placed it in the firepit he had made. The fire began to expand, igniting the wood. He carefully put a few more sticks on it, and then sat back, staring into the fire.

(Simon)
Shade took a sharp stick from the pile Jodelle had brought him, turning it over in his hands. He peeled the bark off the sharp, broken end, then said,"I have one more use for you," cryptically, before suddenly standing up and spinning around, stabbing her with a stick. He stabbed her repeatedly in the stomach before jabbing the stick up under her ribs and in to her heart. "Entertain me," He said in a dark, twisted, insane way. His eyes were light with excitement, and there was a small grin on his face. Basically, he wore a expression that would be terrifying to any normal person.

(Leroy)
Having decided that Michiko was totally and utterly spaced out, Leroy decided to turn his attention to other matters. "Sure," He said, giving a nod to Dominic's question,"That would be better then her having to follow me around." With that, he gave another nod, before heading off to find another team. The team he found was Bramwell and Sakura. "Eh-hem," He cleared his throats from behind them,"This is supposed to be a class about how to survive in the forest. So, get back to the woods, the town is off limits."

(Hunter)
"Alright. You set it up like this," He said, placing some dry kindling such as some of the wood shavings and dried leaves in to the bottom of the firepit he had made. He then got a flat log, and a stick. He placed some more wood shavings on the log and then said,"This is how I learned to start a fire without matches. It takes work and time, but it works." with that, he began rubbing the stick on the log, hard and fast. Before too long the shavings began to smoke, and he blew on them gently. After a bit of work, a small fire started. He placed the shavings in the firepit, then began to add wood. "You put smaller sticks on first, then gradually add bigger ones. The key is to allow enough airflow to keep the fire going." He placed some of the sticks in the shape of a tepee. "There are other ways to do it that will last longer and use less wood, but this is the only way I know. It will burn wet wood and green wood, too, so it works well here."

(Seth)
"Still don't know how many yards would make 40 meters," Seth called before disappearing in to the woods. He scouted around for a while before returning with some dry wood. "Got some wood for a fire, and found a small stream. Beyond that, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for."
Times are looking grim these days~

___"I beg your pardon?" Sakura stated as Bramwell uncharacteristically understood what was about to happen. Sakura paced out her idea, as there was short break between sentences. There was a certain amount of planning in her thought for that reason.
___"We are on an island, a place where abandoned property regularly washes ashore... In principle, survival is about using all resources available to us, including such things as trash washed ashore and other abandoned property, to ensure survival... If we are to ignore resources arbitrarily, then we are not practicing for survival; we are just showing-off. We found a village. If it is abandoned, then there will be plenty of things in there that can be used to ensure survival and rescue via using materials and tools found within it. If it is not abandoned, then that is civilization and we should be engaging it to escape the island. It goes against all purposes of survival to ignore this village for that very reason. The last time I checked, escaping to civilization is the whole point of survival. All skills are purely accessories meant to help accomplish that goal," Sakura paused for a longer period of time, preparation going into the idea of presenting Leroy's flaws.
___"If we are not going to use all resources available to ensure survival and escape, then may we at least be clear that this is just satisfying some lifestyle desire as McCandless wanted or just showing-off a few skills that would look good on camera. Hell, how about I accidentally break my arm so as to MacGuyver a splint since that would make something good for the recording? Would you find that an impressive display of survival?" Sakura asked in a way where there was no attempt to hide the passion for the idea of Leroy's restrictions being arbitrary with intent of argument. As the rant went on, Bramwell slowly backed-away from what was generously thought of as a conversation. At the same time, a Bostonian in a helmet and vaguely paramilitary clothes walked in on the argument.
___"Oh, hey, teach, that partner you assigned to me is doing absolutely nothing; he is more statue than man," Taylor stated with bare contempt of the person yet absent of anger, or at least any negative reaction to it. With that one interruption, Sakura completely forgot the argument that she just had as the thoughts about introducing the student came to mind.
---
___"Okay, how about this. Keep an eye out for pa', palm trees, particularly small ones, trash which might hold some use such as fishing 'vire, I mean wire, or a sharp object, or how about just anything of 'pat, that nature, oh and trees with relatively small, bare roots. Starting a fire before we have any use for it would not be useful at the current time. Right now, I will search to see if there is any sort of natural shelter available or perhaps a site which will take minimal effort to turn into shelter," Makoto explained as she swatted at the female mosquitoes, often getting distracted in the process by the annoyances. They were an uncomfortable distraction, one which probably meant that there was a nearby body of fresh-water that Makoto simply missed in her haze of insect splattering.

Following Jay along as he led the way to the river, Sarah made sure to keep him from tripping or losing his balance and falling as they approached, the sound of rushing water slowly gaining strength as they got closer and closer, until eventually they arrived at the stream (It was a river, not a stream, Sarah reminded herself at this point). It looked fairly pristine, but Sarah didn't trust that it was completely clean. They would probably have to boil it before being able to drink it safely, so she refreained from drinking it for now. She did, however, splash some of it on her face to refresh herself, before turning back to Jay.

"You can set that down and sit if you want. I'm gonna go find materials to make a shelter with, okay? I won't go far." She told him, before going and doing exactly what she said she would do, beginning to look around for vines and long branches she could use to make something to shield herself and Jay from wind and rain, while making sure not to stray too far from the stream. She didn't have a very good way of getting back to Jay if she got lost, after all, what with the power suppression affecting her as it did, and she feared that without her he probably wouldn't do very well out here by himself.

Cassie
"I don't think I can help you there..." Cassie said, handing the branch to him as he set it up for the shelter. "I have no idea how to start a fire" She added, biting her lip. "I doubt I'd even be good at it with matches..." She let out a sigh. Since he set the branch up and all, she came to the conclusion that it was in fact a useful size, which made her relieved for some reason.

"What else should I do?" Cassie asked curiously, suddenly feeling useless and clueless when it came to what she should do next, and she just nervously stood there with an uncertain look on her face.

Cassandra
"You can speak freely, you know. I know you're a guard and all but that doesn't mean you can't speak your mind sometimes" Cassandra said, trying to get something out of the guard beyond the standard procedures a guard like him had to follow when it came to illegal items, going through security, and telling here what to do, where to go, and so on. But she doubted it would actually work. She just wanted to see if she could get him to speak beyond his job protocols.

Cassandra took the welcoming package and nodded, saying nothing in reply and following him into the elevator, then out of the elevator when it arrived to the floor he was taking her to.

"Thank you" Cassandra said, fiddling with her package and eventually getting her key card out of it. She swiped the door and pushed the door open, stepped in, and closed the door, letting out a sigh. That hadn't gone as well as she had hoped, but she was glad to be here and glad to be in her room to relax for now. Well, as far as her definition of relaxing went, that is, which meant blasting her ear drums off. She scanned the room, pleased enough with it, and then hopped onto her bed and laid on her back, pulling her headphones back over her ears and turning her music back on to blast death metal into her ears, all while staring up at the ceiling and thinking deeply.

Jodelle
Not really terribly surprisingly, Jodelle was a bit uncomfortable about the fact that Shade had grabbed a sharp stick of all the possible sticks he could have grabbed from her pile of wood, and then started to peel the bark off of the sharp, pointed end. She raised an eyebrow, but she didn't get concerned enough before it was too late. She got stabbed in the stomach with the stick, which made her gasp and start to realize how realistic this simulation could feel to actually being stabbed and dying. She was about to say something to Shade, but before she could muster the strength to speak, she got stabbed even more, being repeatedly stabbed in the stomach by Shade and pretty much dying at that point, or at least she was at the point of being so dead that she didn't even feel anything anymore. She wanted to say something to Iden, and to call Shade freaking insane, but it was too late, and by the time Shade acted even more insane after stabbing her to death, she was already dead, and fell onto her back and faded away out of the simulation.

"What the fuck?!" Jodelle wasn't one to swear all the time, but this was certainly an appropriate time to do so. She pushed open her pod and stepped out, looking to be in a bit of shock. "What the fuck?!" She said again, standing there in disbelief at what had just happened. Now she was wishing for that student to get in some serious trouble for obstruction of her class, and well, killing her in the simulation anyway. She wasn't entirely sure what she was supposed to do now, so she just continued to stand there in a sort of shock, and looking at herself as if making sure that she was in fact still alive.

Leroy rolled his eyes, tapping his foot impatiently. "But this class isn't about how to use what you find in abandoned cities, it's about learning to survive with what you find in the forest, in the event that you get stuck with no cities and nothing but the forest to survive on. It doesn't matter what you can find in this simulation, that's not the point in the class. The point is to teach you how not to die if stuck in the woods, unable to find a city or anything such as that. Now, do the class properly and get back to the forest, I'll come check on you guys again in a bit. If you don't listen, there will be repercussions at a later date," With that, he turned and walked away, not caring if they didn't like his logic, which was perfectly reasonable to him. The point of the class was to learn how to survive in the forest, and the forest alone. If it had been an all-around survival class, that would be fine, but it wasn't. Finding cities and using what was there wasn't the point in the class. The only reason there was a city was because there hadn't been time to create a simulation where there was only a forest.

As he was turning to leave, though, he nearly bumped in to Taylor. In his annoyance, he hadn't noticed her approach. This school must be softening him if he hadn't realized that. "Jun can be your new partner, then. She needs one, anyway, and I think it would be best if she was teamed with another student, rather then a teacher." With that, he gave a nod to Jun and walked off to find another group. The next 'group' he found was Shade. As soon as he neared the camp, he stopped, his senses on high alert. He couldn't tell what was wrong, as everything looked peaceful, but he knew that something wasn't right. He trusted his instincts. Walking closer, he saw Shade standing by a fire pit, covered in blood and holding a blood-covered stick. Jodelle was nowhere to be seen. "Where's your partner?" Leroy asked, having the feeling he knew the answer. Shade grinned at him, then gave a shrug,"Where do you think?" He asked, smearing blood on his face before squatting down and building a fire as if nothing was wrong. Leroy wasn't entirely sure how to deal with this situation, as it was just so unexpected.

(Seth)
"I didn't understand half of that," Seth said,"But I think I got the gist of it." With that, he set out to find the things he was told to look out for, not having a ton of luck with the wire or anything sharp. He found a few small-ish palm trees, but wasn't sure if they were small enough, and he wasn't quite sure exactly what to look for with the roots.

(Jay)
Jay placed the wood down and took a seat. "It's bigger then I though," He said, nodding towards the water. He gave a nod to what she said about finding materials to make a shelter,"Alright," He said, listening to her footsteps as she walked off. Once she was gone, he got down on his hands and knees and began looking for a rock with a hole or dip in it that they might be able to boil water in, and was obviously careful not to fall in to the water.

Growing less and less interested with what the other students were doing, Jun had been quietly studying her hand trying ineffectually to find the pixels in the simulation by bringing it nearer and further from her face. "Yeah, sweet as!" she declared when Mr Talisman paired her with Taylor. She was actually a little put out at being the spare student who had to buddy up with a teacher even though it was way better having something to do either way. Lucky the other student had glitches out or whatever.
"Hey, I'm Jun," she told the Taylor then, spotting a palm tree which for some reason had grown pretty much horizontally and quite close to the ground for the first part of its growth, added. "So, I'm thinking shelter. If we lean some sticks against that and then cover them in palm leaves it'll hopefully make a waterproof-ish lean-to. Want to give me a hand or've you got any other ideas?" she asked, already looking around for some suitably long branches on the jungle floor and eyeing some of the branches of other trees as well, wondering if she could snap them off.

Elizabeth had spent the last few pages sitting at the foot of a tree observing the students. Yeah, let's go with that. Anyway, she came to the conclusion that these most of these children were completely pathetic when it came to this scenario. So much so, that she was becoming increasingly annoyed. Though, to be honest, she was honestly feeling pretty good. She had always had a unique connection with the earth, and even though she was fully aware it was a simulation, she felt at ease moreso than being stuck on a ship in space.

After a few minutes, Elizabeth stood up. "I can't watch this anymore. I guess I'll go explore..." she muttered. She began wandering until her feet began hurting. "Yeah... probably shouldn't have worn high heels when I got into the simulation." She paused and thought for a few seconds. "Oh well." She took off her heels and threw them away. Then she tore off the lower part of her skirt and wrapped the piece around her arm. Finally, she took off her jacket and unbuttoned her shirt. "Note to self: stop wearing business attire." After neatly folding her jacket and placing it on the ground, she flipped backwards and began stretching. "Alright, I can deal with this..."

Thus, Elizabeth continued her journey of fuckery with her leather jacket in hand and began wandering once more. She then came across a river, because she's just that damn good. She turned back in order to look for suitable firewood. After collecting firewood and a couple of sticks, she returned to camp. She made two piles of wood and created a fire from out of one of them. Then, she entered the river and gathered rocks. The rocks were placed in the fire. Afterwards, Elizabeth dug a small hole and placed her leather jacket into it after gathering water into the jacket.

She once again entered the river and unwrapped the torn piece of her skirt from around her arm. She tore it in two and wrapped the two pieces around both of her hands. I hope I still remember how to do this... She stood still for several minutes, carefully watching the fish swim around and between her legs. She slowly reached down, her hands carefully entering the water The fish swam in a group, which hindered their ability to move swiftly. This allowed Elizabeth to reach for a fish from behind and grab it. The fish immediately tried to wriggle from her hands, but the cloth helped her maintain her grip. She quickly returned to her campfire and impaled the fish on one of the sticks. She repeated this process three more times, each taking less time than the last as she began to remember what she had been taught years ago.

After putting out the fire out by smothering it with sand, she quickly transferred the hot rocks to the water she previously laid out using the cloth around her hands. As the water boiled, she started a new fire with the second pile of firewood. She then began cooking the fish over the fire one by one, afterwards placing each stick into the ground with the fish pointed to the sky. The water stopped boiling and the rocks were taken out of the makeshift pot. She took a drink from it and shrugged. "At least it's better than the coffee..." She took a few bites from her fish and nodded, a hint of pride in her eyes. "Fuck yeah, I'm good."

Suddenly, a motherfucking bear comes out of nowhere from the other side of the river. It casually crossed the river and stood in front of the campfire, across from Elizabeth. After several seconds of awkward silence, Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "May I help you?" The bear began making that annoying grunting noise, clearly trying to threaten her. "Oh, please." She stood up and walked around the fire, approaching the bear and stopping a few yards from it. She threw one of her fish at the bear and it quickly consumed it. "There, happy?" It once more began making the noise. "Oh piss off."

She turned around and returned to her campfire, prompting the bear's grunts to grow noticeably move violent and intimidating. It charged at her and Elizabeth quickly grabbed her scepter. With a swift motion, she hit the bear on the skull. It howled in pain and backed up. The bear attempted to roar at her once more, but it paused. Elizabeth, with fury plastered on her face, proclaimed, "Go ahead, I dare you. I wouldn't mind a new bearskin rug." The bear grunted once more and sat down. With a smile, Elizabeth threw another fish at him. "Good. I think I'll call you Tom." She grabbed the remaining fish and sighed. "Looks like I'll need to fish again..."
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

"Ummm..." Josh looked around, a look stuck between confused and unsure on his face. After a few moments, he clicked his fingers and stood.
"We're gonna need some of those big tree leaves to act as a roof. " Standing, Josh then looked at Cassie, and gave her a soft smile.
"You're doing fine. Seriously."

Cassie gave a nod at what Josh mentioned they needed next, and got ready to head out again to do as she was told, since she had to be pretty much told everything since she didn't know what she was doing, but she ended up stopping herself and turning back to face Josh as he spoke, and she had something of her own she wanted to say. She found herself blushing and smiling shyly at what he said, and she wasn't sure why. She let out a quiet thanks to him before speaking her mind.

"I wouldn't mind going camping for real sometime...With a tent and actual camping supplies. I've never really been camping before. It would be nice..." Cassie bit her lip before continuing. "I'd want to go camping with someone, though..." She looked at Josh like she couldn't get herself to actually say what she was thinking, which was that she wanted to go camping for real with him of all people. She just hoped he got what she was implying so she didn't actually have to say it. When her gaze fell upon him for too long, though, she turned away and started blushing again, looking down at the ground shyly, and she let out a cute little nervous chuckle.

"What the hell is he talking about?" Sakura asked after Leroy left, confused by just what inspired Leroy to make that speech. She was surprised by the fact that Bramwell was not nearby judging by the fact that he walked back to Sakura.
"How about we just leave for a different location? On a more important note, 'about' is a preposition," Bramwell stated with clear intent of ensuring that Sakura did not see the abandoned town.

"It does not necessarily have to be a sharp object that you could bring with you. Something sharp for piercing and unmovable could be handy so as to not recreate the first injury of the Battle of Guadalcanal," Makoto explained, the thought of explanation coming later momentarily. "The first injury of the Battle of Guadalcanal was a dude who cut his hand while he tried to open a coconut with a bayonet," Makoto elucidated, laughing awkwardly as she swatted the detestable mosquitoes on the back of her neck.

---

"Taylor," she stated in a muffled voice, about to hold out her hand before Jun noticed the palm tree and stopped, retracting her hand before things could get awkward for Jun too. "You know, let's make that our plan," Taylor stated as she promptly joined Jun's effort. She was unsure of for what she looked, but continued with the search regardless of ignorance.

"Sweet as," Jun repeated with a grin.
In about a minute Jun had found half a dozen sufficiently long sticks and began propping them up along the palm trunk. They would need a lot more; probably at least twenty or thirty to hold all the leaves in place but it was a start. She looked up from her work to regard her partner. Taylor had a great figure, she decided; tall, slim and you never really saw many redheads in New Zealand. Her hair was something unusual to Jun and she liked girls with something different about them.
"So," she said, sitting on her haunches and turning round to face Taylor in order to strike up a proper conversation, "Where you from - Canada?"
