Second, I have a very very very very very traumatic memory that insides about peeping and perversion. You see, during the Vampire War I lost both my parents along with most of my family resulting me in having a utmost fear of loosing anyone close to me." Will started sniffling and his voice started fluctuating "When I found my second family I had one person really close to me who was big brother to me" Will starts crying a bit while still talking. "He was a mega pervert, and he always peeped on ladies from other tribes. When his lower torso was crushed by a rockfall, he looked at me and his last words were "Don't follow my path, and protect the family". He told me never to ever become a pervert and follow the path that he walked" Will continued to cry as thoughts of brother dominated his mind. After a contact in his sense bubble alerted him to where he was he stopped sobbing. "Thats my I can never ever peep" Will said as his voice returned to its normal. "But you still haven't answered my question why do you have high traces of metal inside your body?" He asked.

Chram kept her distance. Her grey eyes leering back at Will, "I. Don't. Give. A. Fuck. You're trauma does not give you the right to violate my privacy." Her voice began to raise in volume. "I don't care if I didn't answer your question you fucking perv!" Chram felt a hand on her shoulder, she whipped around to see Sean staring blankly at her,
"Good morning, little sis." Sean ruffled her hair in his hand, Chram looked away,
"Good morning, elder brother."
Sean cocked his head to the side, "Will, was it? I'd appreciate it if you'd stopped doing that. Its stressing my little sister, which is something I'd appreciate not happening, because even if you don't mean ill by it you're still violating several codes of conduct."
Chram stood behind Sean shivering.

Deep breath and out is all he thought as he calmed himself and his serious side took over

"I am terribly sorry for everything my more carefree side of me has just done. I can promise you it won't happen again" Will said his voice in a low monotone. "I would like to tell you that what my more carefree and stupid side was trying to protect the people on this station. You see back in the Himalayas some people turned themselves into living bombs and blew themselves up well in hopes of either killing me and my family, so I got in the habit of checking a person for any dangers so I can protect my family. I do consider the people of this station my third family since well I have been accepted by my own kind, also if it makes you feel better I loose all of the memories of using my sensory bubble within 10 minutes, because holding millions of small little data bits is very straining on the mind and so to hold my sanity I have to forget all the little data points within 10 minutes of learning it. If there is anything I can do to make this better and to fix my wrong please tell me" Will finished in pleading voice. He prayed that they would forgive him for his transgressions.

Caitlin heard Bramwell talking to her, and she spun around to face him, because she was sidetracked with looking around the room. "Good morning. And hell yeah I am!" She exclaimed in excitement. "I love these types of classes, and I can't wait to learn whatever it is we are learning. Based on the dummies and the general set-up, I'm going with martial arts of some sort. Which is great. Then I can be more like Batman or something. It will be good for me" She said to him, clearly excited about it.

"I'm worried about Cassie though" Caitlin said, lowering her voice. She gave a quick nod over into Cassie's direction, before continuing. "She seems...even more down then usual today. She looks distant and upset, and I'm not sure how well she will actually be able to do this class in this state. Do you know what's up by chance?" She asked him.

"Also, someone's trying to get your attention" She added after his answers, nodding over to Gregorio. How Gregorio addressed Bramwell confused her, but it mostly went over her head.

Cassie
Spotting the golden retriever that was Jay's guide dog, she felt like going over and visiting the dog. She had seen the dog plenty of times before, but never really just went up and outright met the dog. And right now she wondered if it might cheer her up a little. Since they seemed to still be waiting for a couple more students at least, she figured she could take some time to visit the dog. And Jay, of course, because it'd be rude to visit his dog and ignore him.

She looked over to Tara, and said, "Tara, I will be right back. I'm going to go say hello to Jay and his dog". She wanted to tell her, just so she didn't worry when she disappeared or something, maybe thinking she had slipped out of class to avoid doing the class today, due to her very bad start to the day. But nope, she refused to just bail out on class entirely, even if she felt like just going back to sleep. That was, if the sleep didn't start involving nightmares. She wondered what the chances of her getting her butt kicked in this lesson were in her current state of mind.

"Hello" Cassie said shyly to Jay, likely getting his attention. She went down on her knee in front of the golden retriever and put her closed fist out to it. "You have a pretty golden retriever" She said, complimenting his dog. Even though he likely couldn't notice it, there was a faint smile from her now, even if it wasn't anything major. It was still natural, and not forced, because dogs, and animals in general, made her happier.

Jay raised his head when Cassie came over, even before she spoke,"Hi," He said, smiling to her. He could tell by her voice that she was feeling down. He moved aside slightly so that she could get closer to the dog without him being in the way. The dog, who's name was Roady, wagged his tail. Rather then sniffing her hand like most dogs probably would have done, he started licking it. "I think it's strange when people say that like their complimenting their owner for the dog being pretty," He said jokingly. He could tell that she was smiling because of how her voice sounded slightly different when she was smiling. He had learned how to tell stuff like that after going blind. Actually, he hadn't really learned, it was just kind of automatic. "His name is Roady, by the way," He told her, happy that his dog seemed to be cheering her up.

Cassie actually seemed to giggle in response to the dog, even if it would likely only be a short-term mood improvement. "He's so cute" She responded to it licking her hand and wagging it's tail. "And friendly" She added, petting it on the head. From her knowledge of dogs, she knew dogs tended to like scritch' behind the ears, so she scratched it behind the ears. She had always wanted a cat or dog, preferably a cat, but her dad and mom never let her have a pet. Which was probably for the best, for the pets sake, since her dog might bring out some of his anger on the pet instead of her, and she didn't want that. She'd rather take the abuse over the poor, innocent little cat or dog. She simply nodded in response to what Jay said, agreeing, even if she didn't really have experience with that. "It's probably their way to compliment the person without actually complimenting them, because it embarrasses them or something" She said to Jay. For some reason talking to Jay made her less nervous, and it might be due to the fact he couldn't really look at her and possibly think inappropriate thoughts about her. Even if people acted like they were all innocent, it didn't mean they were. And she couldn't hear their thoughts to find out either way. "Roady.....Interesting name" She said simply, and pushed herself back up into a standing position, petting the dog some more on her way up and while standing up there. She sort of just stood there, not really sure what to say at the moment.

"Yeah, sure thing." I said, when Cassie told me she was going to see Jay's seeing-eye dog. To be honest, I was slightly more pre-occupied by the arrival of a certain vampire. Seemed like I couldn't get away from the blood-sucking bastard. Though, judging from the dummies that Burton had brought out, we wouldn't actually be fighting each other. If we did, though, I intended to make the vampire my sparring partner. It would be a thoroughly enjoyable morning, beating the arrogant bastard in a one-on-one fight. I waited until he noticed I was staring at him, locked eyes with him briefly, before turning my gaze elsewhere. Wouldn't want him feeling comfortable, now, would I?

My eyes fell to Cassie, talking amiably with Jay about his dog. It made me happy to see her getting along so well with another person. Especially because Jay was a boy. I'd picked up on Cassie's... hesitancy... around boys, that was noticeably absent around other girls. I didn't feel comfortable pressing Cassie for anything she didn't give me willingly, though from the snippets she'd told me, and her mumbled words this morning, she'd evidently had a very hard life before coming to the school. It only made me more determined to get her in fighting form, so she wouldn't have to go through the rest of her life lying down while people kicked at her. Waiting for class to being, I clasped my hands loosely behind my back and spread my feet out a little.

"Cassie will do fine today," I said to Caitlin, when I overheard her talking to Bramwell. "Besides, it doesn't look like we're going to be fighting each other anyways. Although, if we are, one of you, please, try to make sure she ends up as your partner." I turned towards the two of them with a serious look on my face. "I don't think her being paired up with a 'villain' would do her any good."

___"It is about time that I got some practice in a martial art that does not require whoever I am practicing-on to wear over fifty pounds of safety equipment. I am worried that I may instinctively use something that is meant to do harm to somebody in casual sparring just due to how most martial arts I practice do training. I need to take something that does not teach me how to turn an opponents attempted punch into an kneeing that pounds into the rib-cage with over two-thousand pounds of force," Bramwell said with still clear anxiety. Not only was he worried about the crowd, he was worried that he would kill somebody, which was something he did not intend to do outside of a well-regulated war. Most martial arts he had been taught were pragmatic and about incapacitating enemies quickly. The martial arts training he had received was done with the intention of somebody who wanted to join a military, and so had legal (in some definitions, moral) jurisdiction, and had been training for most of his life with that in mind. The fact that, just last year, he was considering doing vigilante work, which would require non-lethal means in order to avoid unwarranted police attention and keep a clean-conscience that he did not kill without justice. "It is nice to see that you still want to be Batman, though may I ask if that would be Keaton, Conroy, or Bale you want to be?" Bramwell said in a somewhat less anxious and a hint of an attempt to have fun were present in his voice. He was not making jest at anything more serious than Caitlin being a fan.
___"I do not know. I have not had the chance to talk with her for over a week now. I did not notice, but I cannot notice those details generally. Empathy has never been easy, and I am a telepath. I should be able to understand immediately what somebody thinks of me, what tone they are using, if they are implying something, and other such details, but I refuse to use it without my sister providing a casus belli while I still suffer difficulties in that area. At this point, I should be making efforts to start a friendship with Cassie if one has not started or solidify whatever our current relationship is into one, but scheduling has not been on my side currently ever since this past week. I find it untenable to let anybody have to struggle on their own; and, should she be struggling, I think one way we can help her is by befriending her," Bramwell said in an even-more anxious tone. He was worried about Cassie's mental well-being, even if he did not fully understand why he was worried. He thought that Cassie needed a small group of friends she could rely upon, as he read that introverted people with a reliable circle of friends were psychologically healthier than others, and he noticed that Cassie did not talk to many people. "Okay, that implication is somewhat obvious," Bramwell said among the cacophony in response to Tara's implied message for them to ensure Cassie does not end up sparring with villains. He could at least understand the implication, and knew that Sakura could assist in that matter. "You seem to want my help and maybe psychiatric help if your circadian rhythm is off by that many years along with some other statements. What is the problem you need my assistance to end?" Bramwell said to Gregorio.

Jay frowned ever so slightly when she said that Roady was cute. He was pretty sure he would never again see the cuteness of animals, young and old. "I'm glad you think so," He said to her saying Roady was cute, his voice didn't sound quite as happy as it had, but he quickly recovered. "He's a seeing eye dog, he pretty much has to be friendly," He said jokingly, though it was pretty much true. A mean dog wouldn't exactly make a good seeing eye dog.
Roady wagged his tail and leaned into her scritching when she scratched him behind the ear, blasting her face with stinky dog breath all the while.
Jay tilted his head,"Well, if your saying that the dog is pretty, you're not technically complimenting the person, you're complimenting the dog. You're just saying to the person as if they had something to do with the dog's creation," He replied jokingly. "I don't know why he's named that. He had that name when I got him. I think it might be related to like, band roadies."

Cassie noticed that Jay had got more upset when she mentioned about his dog being cute, and it didn't take long for her to realize, and suddenly she felt guilty for bringing it up, and frowned herself. Being who she was, she even apologized. "I'm sorry....I didn't mean to make you sad...." She said quietly. To the part about seeing eye dogs pretty much needing to be friendly, she nodded in agreement, because it seemed like it should be true.

"Ew" She jokingly said to the dog when she got blasted with stinking dog breath. "That's gross" She added, making a face. But, it actually made her smile more instead, not be annoyed. And in response, she rubbed the dogs head in a sweet, loving way.

"Oh, I know. I agree with you...........I was just thinking in the mindset of what some people might be thinking" Cassie said quickly, seeming to be trying to make it not sound like she was one of those people, because she wasn't, and didn't want to be either. At least, she didn't want to be like someone that just came up to you and tried to hit on you and compliment you instantly, acting all flirty. She hated those kinds of people. They could get annoying. To the last part, she simply shrugged.

"So.....I'm not good with conversation....." She commented shyly after a while of silence, showing that she was definitely introverted, and if there was nothing really to talk about, she didn't really know what to say, or talk about. Now if there was a subject she enjoyed, like dancing, and writing stories, or music, she could talk about it pretty openly . But she was the type that didn't really know how to start idle chit chat, and that's pretty much what they were doing right now.

Caitlin
Caitlin simply listened to what Bramwell was saying, and nodded when he was done in acknowledgement. "I just need to learn something other then some gun control and sword fighting. And I need to improve in all of these area's, but obviously starting out is good enough for me. I've done sword fighting for a while, but I never did it amazingly well, so I still could use a lot of practice" She said to him. Now, Caitlin could go on in conversations a lot more. Even more so on subjects she liked. But she could do idle chit chat easier as well. Pretty much any normal person could have a bigger conversation on subjects they cared about. She started to smile for what seemed to be no reason. "Bale, definitely. He's my favorite. Some of the others seemed a little too...cheesy. I like the more seriousness of the latest Christopher Nolan Batman's. They are so well done. Probably the best superhero movies out there in general" She said to him, still smiling.

Caitlin again simply listened and nodded to what Bramwell said when he was done. She couldn't think of anything that really needed to be said to parts of what he said. "At least Cassie seems to have Tara. They get along well, it seems. She needs at least someone to talk to, instead of being completely alone. I don't think it would help her at all if she had no friends at this school. That would likely just make things worse on her then they already are" She said, shaking her head. She knew little about the details of anything related to Cassie's past, which was pretty much the same with Tara, but all she knew was that she felt bad for the girl. To what Tara said, she nodded again. "Will do. I don't want her to fight someone that might just take advantage of her being weak and kicking her ass" She said, shaking her head. Then her eyes widened. "Crap, I didn't mean to imply that she was weak...god damn slip of the tongue" She said, muttering the last part. "At least she seems to be relatively happy talking to Jay and the dog right now" She said, sighing. She had noticed that she didn't seem to do that well around boys too, but not overly so, because she hadn't had quite the same amount of time with Cassie as Tara had, so she didn't pick out all the little things as much.

As the Academy orbited the Earth, its inhabitants are treated to a beautiful and intimidating view of the endless void. Mostly, the void was occupied by dust, rocks, and various junk left over from Humanity's forays into space. However, today, the regular programming of space was interrupted by a massive gash appear. The tear contorted, then formed into a white swilling mass. Then, all the world like some great being, the white maw spat out a small Colonial frigate.

Well, small being relative.

The frigate, it's name Blood Rose running along the main body, tipped the 150 metre mark. It's hull was pockmarked, scarred and burnt in several places, and held various weapon emplacements. At the front of the ship was a hole, the barrel for a magnetic accelerator. In another time and place, the Blood Rose was a very important name. However, today, it simply served as transport for a figure far more important.

"Ma'am?" was the first word Abigale Moyle heard as she awoke from cryosleep. Groaning as the post-awakening stiffness set in, she sat up and looked at the person speaking: Some unnamed crew member, who was now shaking slightly under her unsettling stare.
"Ma'am. The Commander sent me to wake you up," he said. He then flinched as she tsk'd and dragged herself out of the cryopod.
"Tell your Commander I'll be on deck in a few. I have some things to do first," Abigale said, her voice not the voice of the devil as the crewman was expecting, but rather the voice of a normal 14 year old girl.

Albeit, the voice of a very cold, calculating 14 year old. As she stalked off, the crewman sighed with relief. He had heard horror stories about Miss Moyle, and from his short time around her, he guessed that most of them were true.

Abigale stepped onto the bridge, only to find her elder brother Markus already there, talking to who she assumed was the Commander of the Blood Rose, one James Seryain. As she approached, Markus talked and smiled.
"All good sis?" he asked, and nodded when she did. Turning back to James, he continued speaking. "Thank you for the lift."
"Thank your sister for the Slipspace drive and we'll be even," James replied, nodding towards Abigale. She ignored him and looked out the main view window.
"That the place?" she asked, pointing at a lit up speck orbiting the planet below. Markus nodded. Abigale turned on her heel and began walking off the bridge.
"Meet me in the hanger. We're leaving," she said. Markus sighed and nodded, even though she couldn't see him. Turning to James, he shrugged.
"Psychopaths. What can you do?" James said. Markus snorted, then shook James' hand and followed his sister.

Markus found Abigale in her personal shuttle. Looking in the shuttle's main area, he saw a cryopod. Wiping some of the frost from it, he saw a familiar face. After a moment, Markus joined Abigale in the cockpit and sat in the co-pilot's seat. After a moment, the shuttle rose and shot out of the now open hanger bay. As the shuttle approached the Academy, the Blood Rose dived back into slipspace, leaving behind wisps of energy in its wake.

As the shuttle came within around 50,000 km of the station, Abigale opened every communications channel she could think of and hailed the station.
"This is Abigale Moyle. I have with me 2 other persons. We seek sanctuary and are willing to offer our services in exchange," she said. Cutting the shuttle's engine's power, she sat and waited. And began slipping up the shuttle's short range jump drive, just in case.

___"I would hope she is becoming healthier from Tara's regimen. Dogs and the minutae of exercise can only hold a person's interest for so long." Bramwell did not notice the small details easily. To Bramwell, everything said was meant to be a literal truth unless proven otherwise. He simply had difficulties with body language and tone, so he was likely to not be able to understand the "tells" Cassie has. "If it is of any concern, I will try to convince Sakura to spar with Cassie," Bramwell said in his still anxious tone. Within seconds, he bounced back to the other conversation, something which Bramwell seemed to be oddly good at for such an odd situation as that. "Getting away from the possibility of thinking one has Fregoli Syndrome due to seeing him in every position the C.I.A. in this odd tangent, may I say that I am not fully confident things will turn out as well as you may think? I presume you are not a fan of George Bonanno? My main concern is that I may not be able to the setting of Antonio's mind, but instead those of the many sentient beings that have taken residence in him. I have never tried to enter the setting which is Antonio's mind. I will try my best anyway when I have some information that may help. Are there any forms that would be helpful for me to take; should I bring weapons; what clothes should I bring; and what safety hazards are in his mind?" Bramwell said in a rather calm manner as Makoto and Sakura teleported into the room, paranoid about William's ideas on the reasons why people wear clothes.

Corrian wrote:Cassie noticed that Jay had got more upset when she mentioned about his dog being cute, and it didn't take long for her to realize, and suddenly she felt guilty for bringing it up, and frowned herself.

"You have nothing to be sorry for," Jay replied gently, feeling bad for kind of ruining her mood. He hated it when his blindness caused other people to get upset, which wasn't very often. Mainly when people felt bad for him, or something. He was kind of the type that didn't usually like people making a big fuss over him. He kind of shook himself out of this thoughts.

He smiled at her sounding happily grossed out by the dog breath. "Sadly, whatever I do his breath doesn't get any better, even with doggy breath mints," He said happily. Roady seemed to be about to fall over from leaning in to the scratching, and Cassie was probably the only thing really holding him up.

"I figured you did," Jay replied, "I was just pointing out the flaws in thinking that way, but I wasn't trying to correct you specifically." He thought it seemed like a weird way to compliment someone without complimenting them directly, and he thought that it was more likely that people just said it without thinking about it to much.

"Me neither," Jay replied, still sounding cheerful. He knelt down next to Roady and 'looked' at her. It was pretty much impossible to tell that he couldn't see her when he had his sunglasses on. "What do you look like?" He asked out of nowhere. For anyone else that would probably have been the weirdest question ever. "I like to at least get some idea what people look like." There was no bitterness in his voice as he spoke, just curiosity.
Times are looking grim these days~

Ocean stepped out of the shuttle and out into the hanger bays.  After looking around he noticed nobody waiting to great him.

"Humph" looking around he located the nearest elevator and headed towards it.  His cane clicked quietly on the floor as he walked.  Once inside the elevator he leaned slightly on the back wall, thinking about where he wanted to go.

"Its around breakfast, may as well go get something to eat."  Using his cane he hit the bottom for the forth level, when the elevator started moving he began to hum in a poor rendition of elevator music.

He continued humming quietly as he left the elevator and headed into the cafeteria.  Walking in he was greated with a view of students moving about, eating, or just generally hanging out.  He froze in the entrance for a second just taking the view in.

"Don't worry, you just need to bring me in, course you must take the image of someone... no, they'll notice something's off... how about that stereotypical ninja outfit. I remember Antonio watching Japanese anime with ninjas in those black outfits when we were young, even though he knows its not historically accurate, and you need to be quiet, in both speech and action. For weapons, no, you need protection, defense not offense. Antonio's fractured mind is more dangerous than the one in Inception. Instead of layers within layers, its aspects drifting apart. Shade is trying everything in his power to keep it together but he doesn't realize the problems he's making because of it." He then went closer to Bramwell and patted his right shoulder.

"And you need to be careful about Antonio, his original personality is much more grey than black or white. He's manipulative. He's ambitious on things he wants. He's do anything to get what he wants. Luckily, he won't kill. But that doesn't mean he's above torture. Even the Antonio you know is either an act of innocence to peacefully get what he wants, or a knife hiding behind a smile. You can trust him, true, there are certain things he won't do. But trust him from an arms reach. If he knows your weaknesses, he'll exploit it. If he knows your secrets, he'll use it. If he knows your life, he'll control it. If it would advance his plans. Luckily for us, Antonio's the most content and somewhat lazy person I know. He is a Scorpio, and if you know your astrology..." Gregorio then saw Makoto appear with Sakura and change his posture and stance, like an old man. He goes to Makoto and bow.

"Why, it is an honor for you to come, you majesty. The Eternal Queen Makoto Jeon of the Kingdom of Tartaran IV. You look younger, another foolish attempt to kill an immortal being of Earth. I have heard that you are searching for other living humans of Earth. How is your great-great-great grand daughter? I have heard that she's leading your forces to reclaim the Serevan Star System from the Esani. May you continue to give my descendants safety from those monsters." He said with a voice of an old man, a few octaves lower. He then stand up properly, rubbing his head from the migraine. "Ah, sorry, my memories have a tendency to play out at times." Gregorio apologize to Makoto.

When it appeared as if no more students would be turning up (and a few non-attendance citations would have to be written), Burton loudly cleared his throat a couple of times and started looking at the class expectantly. He didn't shout, for shouting simply indicated the need to apply more force of will to get a class' attention than they actually had. Rather he let the wave of silence and attention settle in, secretly timing who perked up quickly and who took their time getting the idea.
"Before we begin there is a rack of 20 pound weighted vests at the back of the gym. Everyone grab one, put it on and adjust it to fit comfortably then have a seat in front of me."

Burton waited until the last studen found a seat, considered every face briefly and steepled his fingers before starting in.
"You're all here because you signed up to take the basic self-defense course. For those of you who don't know me my name is Mr. Malik. If anyone is in the wrong place speak up now and we'll get you to where you need to go."

Nobody spoke up. Good first sign.

"Okay. As I said I will be teaching you the basics of self-defense. To understand what this entails it helps to understand what you will not learn in this class. Here you will not learn a glorified form of street or sport fighting, nor will you be learning a set of combative dance moves distilled into regimented moves.
Here you will learn some specific movements and repeat them, but that is not the purpose of this class. The purpose of this class is to give you the mindset and attitude needed to defend yourself quickly effectively and decisively when the time arises. What you will need to pass this class is the ability to discern decisive movement from wasted action, to think quickly and act upon it, and a healthy dose of mental and physical fortitude.

So we begin with this lesson."

Burton turned towards the dummy posed in a punch.

"Here we have your standard aggressor. Obviously this green meanie is intent on punching me and I have to defend myself.

So, any ideas on how to deal with him? Shout it out, no need to raise hands rember quick decisiveness."

There was a lull before a voice called out.

"Chuck Norris im!"

That got a titter from the class and a slight smile from Burton.

"Chuck Norris him, I assume you mean some sort of spinning back heel kick. Fair enough, big fast kicks can be deavistating when they land and very quickly so it seems valid.

However, the problem is in order to carry that out you need to start moving before he's close, so about here..."

While he had been talking Burton had backpedaled just outside of the reach of the dummy, and after cutting off his speech he snapped his body around, arms in and left his feet as the heel of one foot passed within micrometers of the head of the dummy on the end of his outstretched leg.

Landing lightly he walked back into range of the freeze-frame punch.

"...meaning I have to get the drop on this guy first. Obviously that didn't happen and now he's the one trying to hit me.

Any other suggestions?
And don't just look at the fist, look at the way the punch is being thrown in a slight hook, look at the where the the weight of the blow is on his feet, look at everything."

___"Wait, how would I do that? "May I suggest a half-python sir?" Sakura asked in a somewhat timid manner, if because she was making herself appearent to a small crowd.
Sakura was surprisingly the first student with an answer, and it required a bit of mental rolodexing before he remembered the term in it's native language.

"Or in the native language the nga hlam khrung. What Sakura has basically suggested is using the aggressors bodyweight against them as well as using natural levers. So something similar to this..."

Burton took a lunging step forward into the green dummy and hooked his inside leg behind the dummies legs. Simultaneously he rammed his shoulder into the armpit of the dummy's punching arm and hooked his arm across its chest and neck.
Then with the leg and hip in position and the arm hooked Burton threw most of his body forward, sending the dummy backwards off of its feet and crashing to the floor with a thud.

This entire motion took place in less than a second.

While he picked the dummy back up and re-set he spoke to the class, not even panting and with barely a glisten of sweat on his head.

"And that is certainly a valid and effective move, albeit a complex one. The key principle in any self-defense situation is to go with what feels natural, instinctual. For example..."

Burton paused for a moment to re-set some of the smaller joints in the dummy.

"...in this position, instinct tells me to do this at first."

This time Burton took a half-step in while crouching, blocked high and rotated his grip outward to grip the wrist, then planted his feet and rotated around, snapping an elbow precisely into the ribs of the dummy. The blow was rewarded with a series of muffled pops, clearly a mechanical imitation of actual ribs being damaged.

"Now at this point a couple of things have just happened. I've taken this person out of balance, I have control of a critical joint, and they've been hit with a blow to the midsection that is going to hurt and probably do some damage."

Burton had to speak over his shoulder and use his free hand and nodding gestures with his head to get the point across.

"Now I have the wrist but unless I do something quickly I won't for long, so to follow up instinct and training tells me to do this."

Burton rotated again, turning his back to the dummy and placing the elbow at his shoulder. Bringing both hands up he pulled down hard on the wrist and stood up out of the crouch.
He was rewarded with another mechanical crunching sound and the sight of the elbow joint hyperextending. The second the joint started to give he thrust his hips backward and pulled down hard on the wrist, sending the dummy over his back and shoulder and crashing to the mat once again.

Turning to the class he gestured to the dummy with one hand while holding onto the wrist with the other.

"And as you can see even when they're down, I maintain control."

Burton let go of the dummies wrist and the arm wilted to the floor,

"This is what you will be learning, to cultivate your natural instincts and pair it with quick thinking to defend yourself quickly. Not only does passing this class require that you cultivate and utilize both simultaneously, one day your very lives could depend on it. There are no letter grades in here, only passes and failures, just like in the real world.

Any questions?"

Orinon wrote:"This is Abigale Moyle. I have with me 2 other persons. We seek sanctuary and are willing to offer our services in exchange," she said. Cutting the shuttle's engine's power, she sat and waited. And began slipping up the shuttle's short range jump drive, just in case.

For about a minute the only response the interstellar refugees received was silence, and once the answer was received it might seem a bit underwhelming.

"Abigale Moyle, proceed to hangar bay 2 to dock."

In preparation for the arrival of the strange spacecraft the hangar bay had been evacuated of people, just in case the strangers proved less than friendly. Only one man remained in the large room, standing casually at attention near the doors and waiting for the spacecraft to land, dressed in the same neat black uniform used by all the guards aboard the station. The only weapons he carried was a simple metal baton and a small pistol, because he didn't think he would need any more than that. The headmaster liked to play things safe though, so several dozen heavily armed guards were assembling on the other side of the doors just in case things turned sour.

Jenkins hoped that everything would go smoothly though, he had been waiting to welcome a new teacher to the station before he had been called away to deal with this, and he'd rather not have to spoil his good mood by hurting anyone.

Dominic
Dominic was eating breakfast in the cafeteria, as he usually did, when he noticed a man he didn't recognize enter the room. It struck him as a bit odd that he didn't recognize the man because he had taken the time to get acquainted with pretty much all of his colleagues, and all the guards and support staff were required to wear their badges when walking about the station. Not being the type to immediately suspect people of nefarious purpose without any proof he decided to go talk with the man, thinking that it was probably just a new teacher. Somewhere in the back of his mind he could faintly remember that he'd heard talk that a new teacher was due to arrive at the station.

Abandoning his food for a few moments he walked over to the man, who was standing near the doors to the cafeteria. "Hello there," he said with a smile, "I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you're new here? I'm Dominic Moreno, nice to meet you."

Cassie just nodded to the mention of his breath not getting any better. She had heard about some dogs just having bad breath, likely from other issues or something. When the dog seemed to be about to fall over, she stopped scratching it, and moved on.

Cassie nodded to what Jay said again, but that was about all she did in response, because there wasn't really anything more to be said.

Cassie was glad that she didn't seem to be the only one on this shuttle that couldn't think of much to say in conversations. That meant she wasn't the only introvert. At least, she guessed Jay was probably an introvert. And Bramwell seemed like he could possibly be one too, but she wasn't certain. When he knelt down by her and 'looked' at her, she seemed to get almost shier, if that was possible, and she gave him a shy smile, even if he couldn't see it. In response to his question, she didn't seem to think it was at all weird, knowing him. "Um....I don't really know how to describe myself....or anyone for that matter....." She said, sounding quite shy talking about herself like that. "I have long blonde hair....and um....bright blue eyes....That's about all I know how to describe....." She told him, hoping that was good enough for him, at least for now. Maybe someone that could describe people better could tell him at some point.

Then, she heard Burton clear his throat to get everyone's attention, and she pushed herself up into standing position again. "I better go" She said to him, giving him a shy wave and slight smile, which he might of noticed the wave from the movement, before she went back over to Tara's side. When she was back over to Tara, she shook her head at herself for being so shy around people, especially boys. Actually, around boys, it was more of this natural uncomfortable instinct that hit her, which made her shier. Tara was probably the only person at the school right now that she wasn't entirely shy around all the time, but even still, she could act shy around Tara, depending the subject they were discussing and such.

At the mention of the 20-pound vests, she wondered how well she could handle them. That sounded rather heavy to her. Though, when she thought of it, she had carried 20 to 30 pound objects before, if not even heavier, especially during the last week. So 20 pounds of weight held up by most of your body couldn't possibly be that bad. So, she went over and got her vest, put it on, wondered to herself how easily she'd be able to actually move fluently during this lesson, and adjusted it to fit, then sat down next to wherever Tara chose.

She simply listened to Burton explain everything. There was obviously no reason to say anything, except when he asked them a question. Which, she had no idea the answer to, because she knew next to nothing about combat of any sort. From the sounds of it, this class would be good for her, but that didn't make her any less nervous, and she started to shake slightly, for what seemed to be no reason. It's not like it was exactly a scary lesson, but even then, her nerves were getting to her.

Cassie raised an eyebrow at the joke everyone was laughing at. She leaned over to Tara, and whispered over to her. "Who's Chuck Norris?" She asked in confusion, clearly not getting what was so funny about the joke the boy made. Which likely surprised Tara. But, she went back to listening to the rest of what Burton said, letting others who actually knew what they were talking about answer.

As the class continued, she started to get more nervous and shaky. She felt like it was already rather likely that she was going to fail this class terribly, because apparently she didn't have much hope. The various crashing to the floor maneuvers made her wince, and get shakier. And the sounds of the dummies didn't help. She really didn't want to inflict that on any real person, because that would definitely be inflicting pain. So after the demonstrations, she ended up just keeping quiet, trying to remember what she had just been shown. Which was easier said then done for her. There was no particular question of hers that she could think to ask.

[/b]Caitlin[/b]
Caitlin had done the same as Cassie, getting all ready and whatnot. She had a feeling that, at least at the current point of this class, that Cassie needing to spar with anyone wouldn't be an immediate concern. Like the majority of the class, she had a reaction to the joke about Chuck Norris, even if he was one of the most overused jokes on the internet ever. The jokes got on her nerves, and she was so sick of hearing them. But that didn't mean she wouldn't laugh at something like that. But, she simply listened to what the teacher said too, even if she knew more about it then Cassie. She still decided to let others that knew more answer instead, and instead spent her time absorbing all the information and demonstrations.

"Nice to meat you Mr. Moreno, yes I'm new her, just flew up in fact. My name is Ocean Hopkins, though I usually go by my middle name, Brendan." Ocean offered his right hand, his left was leaning in the cane. "To satisfy curiosity what do you teach her Mr. Moreno?"

Jay smiled in response to Cassie's description of her,"Good enough for me," He replied,"I don't care about details."

He then straightened up when the teacher started talking. He listened to what he said, then said,"Stay," To Roady before heading to get a vest and adjusting it to fit. He then went and sat down near Cassie, mainly because she was one of the main people he knew here, even if he didn't know her very well.

Like Cassie he just listened quietly. He wasn't surprised by her question, mainly because he only barely knew who Chuck Norris was. He didn't laugh at the joke, because he didn't find it funny, for one, for two, he thought it was a little old, and three, he wasn't much of one to laugh out loud about stuff like that. He also just kind of listened, not knowing the answer to any of the questions.

He turned his head toward Cassie, having barely noticed that she was getting all shaky. "Relax," He said,"You're not going to do any worse then me," He said the last part jokingly, even it was probably true. He seemed to have slight issues following what was going on with the attack moves, and leaned as far forward as he could without falling out of his chair. He frowned slightly and raised his hand,"Do you think it's possible for me to learn this stuff? I'm blind," He added the last part in case Burton didn't already know that.

(Charlotte)
Charlotte probably looked more excited then anyone had ever seen her. She quickly obeyed with getting a vest and whatnot. In response to the Chuck Norris joke, she let out a VERY sarcastic 'ha ha'. Then she just listened and watched to the rest of the stuff. She seemed to get even more excited at the idea of learning how to beat the crap out of the people with the dummy's sound effects. She just remained quite when he asked if they had any questions, but smirked in a douchy way at Jay's question.
Times are looking grim these days~

Erkenfried meanwhile was leaning against a wall in the corner, away from all the other students. They were quite noisy and it irritated him. While the sharp pitches didn't hurt his sensitive ears, they did give him a mild headache that forced him away from the group. In this corner of the room however, Erkenfried spied an American coin, a nickel to be price. Having never seen American currency before and ignorant of the metallic composition of the coin, Erkenfried stooped down to pick it up but yelped loudly as he did so. The coin had 'burned' the palm of his right hand and he quickly dropped it. Even though he had just touched it for less than a second, his normally grey skin turned a raw pinkish red where it was exposed to the metal.
Hopefully nobody noticed that.
"Quod Vult, Valde Valt"

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.
