That is the map for the area where the combat test is (hopefully soon) going to be given; its only about a KM in length and half a KM wide but the terrain will make it so that there is not fight as soon as the test starts.

Now I'm going to take a vote: Who wants to keep the course with what we are doing and Rp the rest of the test involving the 160k/h suicide machine and who wants to get on to the combat test? First to 5 votes is the winner.

Combat test.

For one thing, if Jaz is piloting a heavy support 'mech then I don't see why the Cicada speed test would have any relevance to her role. Most likely she'd ignore it as much as possible and let the testosterone junkies (*cough*James*cough*)do their dick-waving while she tries to put Bulldyke's cockpit back together.

Also, what program did you use to design that hex grid?

Everyone 'grows up' piloting light fast 'mechs like Cicadas; the test would have been designed to test how well you know your limits and blah blah. But its gonna get skipped.

And I built the map using Heavy Metal Maps; I could put together a map about twice that size but I'm still learning its advanced features.

We do gotta talk about something really fast though: Bear is not going to let you pilot that busted ass 'mech for insurance reasons (lack of insurance is one of those insurance reasons) but there are loaner 'mechs that can be used, Dominus is using a Uziel in place of his Bushwhacker because its got busted leg actuators, the closest to a Catapult GSS has is a Dervish and a Trebuchet could you pilot one of those? They are lighter but otherwise almost exactly the same.

Ok combat test has 5 votes, we are going to time skip about twelve hours. I'm going to put together new lances because we have players out and players in (we can just assume all players out washed out of heat and reflexes tests). I'm lumping all PCs together against the NPCs.

Do we have to hem and haw over who's lance leader again? Or does it default to Bear?

Jaz won't like it; she thinks her 'mech's fine aside from a teensy-wee hole in the canopy and the fact that there's enough loose wiring in the cockpit to make it look like a bowl of spaghetti bolognese. But if Bear actually orders her not to use Bulldyke then she'd begrudgingly take the Dervish; it least it still has a jump jet.

Alright, if anybody WANTS to be the helmet thief, the description of Artemus' neurohelmet is pretty straightforward.

Think of it looking something like this:
Image

But with a multi-cam cloth covering over the outer shell.
Underneath the covering the outer shell is mostly black, but with gloss black outlines of horses' heads snorting smoke on either side.

Oh, we're talking about neurohelmets, are we? A chance to show off some awesomeness!

Let me just say, this looks fucking stupid.

I'm stuck between something like this:

And this:

The second one is actually probably more likely. As of right now, you can throw a spectacular amount of technology into a helmet, and the F-35-style helmet just demonstrates that. But as seen in this, the neurohelmets used were Vietnam-style, though that might just be because the actual neurohelmets look fucking stupid.

For James' neurohelmet, think of the ones used by the Rebels in Star Wars.

Oh I dunno, the 'cannon' neurohelmets are kinda cool I think. The bigger 10 pound ones, and this is only a guess, are that big because of the regress of technology following The Great Destruction, plus it sort of harkens back to the "knight errant" image of Mechwarriors during the first Star League era.

Plus bear in mind there are other designs too, such as this
Or apparently this

I almost went with the former for Artemus' neurohelmet but for I just couldn't find a real world or 3D analogue that was close to it.

There are more advanced Nuerohelmet designs than the big cans from the succession wars thanks to the clans and the Helm Memory Core, I think of the Nuerohelmet circa 3067 like the ones in the intro to Mechwarior 4.

Hate to break this to you but I work at a radio station, I use the computer that the music is piped off of to browse the net to keep from going crazy... the only other access I have is via my phone and anyone who has tried to check out Youtube on a 3g network knows the problem with that. I haven't been able to listen to the songs on the soundtrack :(

As for the other part, I'm forming lances based on the type of 'mechs people use and stuff that will and the timeskip will happen today.

Well in the Lyran Commonwealth Electrobaroque is what the club goers are currently doing mechabump too, in the Draconis Combine the state controls all the programming so the people listen to whatever House Kurita likes today (or else), and I have heard rumors that in The League a civil war erupted over which song topped the Hot 100 charts.

And I'm still minus the net at home, just spent $600 getting my truck repaired enough to pass state inspection and had to put my dog down :(

Ok this is the list first is the nations of active players and second will be the lances. Mighty Islands and Morning Glory are still listed because they TG'd or posted in the OOC saying they still wanted to be around but were waiting.

Rpers
Northern Dominus
Hardened Pyrokenetics
Junii
Ularn
Strykla
Camicon
Sciosia
Occupied Deutschland
Mighty Islands?
Zenjiled/Morning Glory?

Combat Test Lances:
Lance 1 (Recon/Skirmish) Julius Warren (Strykla), Artemis Storm (Dominus), Walther Alschittle (Deutschland),
Lance 2 (Main Battle Line) Katherine Fuego (Junii), John Perry (Camicon), Septimus Wilmot (Islands), Francisca Ostermann (Glory)
Lance 3 (Support) James Callahan (Hardened Pyros), Alex Arcuno (Sciosia), Jasmine Mandela (Ularn)

Italic is the lance leader.

Lol how do we still have exactly one empty lance spot? I'll toss an NPC into Lance 3 and maybe Bear will fill a spot in Lance 1. These are not the final lances yet, they'll be broken up into mixed lances once the company is finalized; I'm messaging Islands and Glory as I type this to see if they are still on board and will let them know of the progress we made. If they don't join I'll make last second changes.

Also want to say: Thank you all for your patience, though it is moving slow it is one of the most fun RPs I've had here and honestly most successful one i have OP'd. I am struggling to get my home net back asap and I promise you guys that I once I do will be on the ball to keep it moving at a good clip and have plans for a long and exciting RP involving the Jihad. A special thanks to HP, Junii, and Strykla for being here from the beginning and never giving up.

Ugh, Electrobaroque, nothing more than a mashing of synth strings and digital blaaats. Plus the club-goers in the Commonwealth wear too much anyway...and the drugs are too expensive.
I thought speed/industrial metal with nordic influences was being popularized by several bands from the Federated Suns as well. There was one band, don't remember the name off of the top of my head but I could swear they hauled the firing mechanism from an AC/2 on stage and cycled it in sync with one of their faster songs, usually on the triplets but it's hard to tell at the tempo they were playing.

And I'm sorry to hear about the dog :( . If it's any consolation disney was right, and somewhere they're getting their reward for being man's best friend. Maybe they'll be nice enough to say hi to a couple of furry friends that Ive been fortunate enough to know.

And ouch, I know how those state inspections go. I have to take my car in every two years for emissions testing, but I'm guessing yours is more extensive in your state.
Battletech RP: Giant walking war machines, space to surface fighters, and other implements blowing things up= lots of fun! Sign up here
We even have a soundtrack!

Aurora, Oak Creek, Happy Valley, Sandy Hook. Just how high a price are we willing to pay?

I think that band was actually named Ultra AC and was formed in the periphery, not so sure. I agree with you about the electrobaroque though; the great ancient composers like Daft Punk would be rolling in their graves if they hadn't been incinerated during the age of war.

She was a good dog, one of the best behaved dogs I ever knew. She never gave anyone reason to be sad in her life and I resolved not to be (too) sad about her death in honor of her memory.

Pennsylvania has what some people might consider draconian inspection laws; I had to replace all the ball joints in the axles, the muffler, and the swaybar on one side to pass and might need to do more work.
