I saw a mention of being on the base for several days, its not the case though- its actually the first night there. I made an IC post in a different thread using my phone and almost killed it (Got really hot and drained the battery) I'll visit this RP IC tomorow, promise!

So I found a theme song for James that fits in so many different ways it isn't funny. Don't worry, as I expand on his backstory more and begin revealing his secrets, the rest of you will understand.

Whoever's doing the GSS Soundtrack, please remember to include this.

I don't. I'll just include one more flashback dream after other people have had a chance to post, then have James wake up.

EDIT: Updated my profile, with James' theme song (Live Life by Crush 40) and his car, which is now the last surviving Ferrari Mythos in existence in BattleTech.

I think I'm going to use The Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash.

That's mostly because Cash is so damn good.

Make sure it fits the character, otherwise it's just a song.

Yeah, you're right. TMCA fits Julius because though he's not really fatalistic, he's Christian, and he can be very, uh, something. I forget the word. There's probably a better song, I just haven't thought of it.

Or I could use Blood on the Risers.

For Duke von der Teufel, I'm going to use either Creeping Death or some march.

EDIT: So, SaintB, is my new doods accepted?

EDIT AGAIN: I'm going to increase it again. Blame Metallica.

I want to apologize firstly because I wanted to start the combat trial BUT there is a bit of an issue, I have a map made up and no way to get that map posted online right now so I'm buying time again (sorry) with an activity that isn't mandatory for you guys to post doing but you can if you want to and I'll get that map up asap so we can get to the fun. The suicide machine is a modified Cicada; its standard 320 XL engine which allows speeds of 129k/h has been replaced with a 380XL which allows it to go 159k/h. The test is take take it along a 10 kilometer course strewn with obstacles that I'll describe later when I have computer access from work; the 'mech has no jump jets just an insane rate of speed and acceleration it has only one small pulse laser for target practice and almost no armor to speak of. Its insane speeds mixxed with lack of armor and weaponry earned it the name Suicide Machine and its kind of like a toy for GSS members to play with when off duty.

Will post eventually. Got some issues to deal with first.

EDIT: The cafeteria portion of my post is inspired by eating in military mess halls while a Royal Canadian Army Cadet, and yes the mess staff did make cookies (or sundaes) for the breakfast crowd as a treat, although only ever enough for the first three platoons worth of Cadets.

I'm going to come back to this later tonight after I grab my tech Manuel, it seems too heavy and still high BV, we can work with this though. The character is accepted, the 'mech is a bit of a problem but that's nothing new nor troubling. You can post in the IC any time as long as you don't reference your ride yet.

Sciosia wrote:Revised Mech Design for Approval:

Modified Awesome 9M

Armor- 15 tons of ferro-fibrous armor

Weapons-
-Right Arm-3 Enhanced Extended Range PPCs with PPC Capacitors
-Left Arm-Enhanced Retractable Blade
Chest- Dual set of Streak Srm 2s slaved to the C3i for Close Quarters and  Anti-Air

Counter Measures-
-Improved Guardian ECM Suite
-Bloodhound Experimental Probe

Maneuverability-
-Six Improved Jump Jets

Engine-
-Hermes Xl 320

Cooling-
-30 double Heat Sinks

Targeting-
-Improved C3 Computer

I told you earlier the character is fine so lets get this mech done...

There is some issues off the bat - You removed a medium pulse and small laser which is 3 tons.

You added: 10 double heat sinks (10 tons)
Retractable blade (4.5 tons)
3 PPC Capacitors (3 tons)
BAP (1.5 tons)
Six Improved Jump Jets (12 tons)
C3 (I'm assuming Slave) Computer (1 ton)

The maximum weight an Awesome Chasis is rated for is 80 tons you added 34 tons while only removing 3 resulting in a total weight of 111 tons, which is more than even the largest rated assault mechs that exist in this era can carry. Don't fret I can offer lots of advice in this category since I used to play tournies and I still occasionally build custom variants for S&Gs.

Lets start with the C3 - Since nobody else in the Company uses a C3 computer this would be so much worthless space, a C3 computer only works when there is another C3 equipped unit in the vicinity and both are tied to the same master C3. So that is something that can be scrapped with no regard or remorse.

BAP - The max range of a BAP system is almost within the minimum safe range for a PPC; BAP's main use is to 'sniff' out enemy battlemechs/armor/tanks that might be hiding in dense forest or behind buildings. While it might act as an early warning system to let you know its time to scram from an area when an enemy closes within short range (which is the Awesome's only real weakness) with a top speed of 64k/h its not likely that you will escape from whatever is fast enough to close with you without getting chewed up anyway. BAP is not something you'll really need with a long range sniper like an Awesome.

Improved Jump Jets: It would be great to have a jump capable awesome that can go 180 meters jumping so I see why you want these to gain a tactical advantage over the enemy by taking positions where you can rain death down in the form of lighting bolts from the mountaintops like Zeus in the days of old. I feel that! Problem is the weight with 12 tons of Jump Jets you'd have to sacrifice 12 tons of something else... that something else would have to be armor and weapons or the engine and removing those may not be the best idea.

I have a proposed version for you.
This one removes the Md. Pulse Laser and 1 ton of armor to add 3 PPC capacitors and changes the armor from regular to Ferro Fibrous. 14 tons of Ferro Armor would provide slightly more protection than the 15 tons of regular the 'mech usually mounts. This only leaves a small pulse laser and a pair SSRM 2 (note there is only 1 ton of ammo between the two launchers so you get 25 shots unless you only fire one at a time) so close range firepower will be lacking but you should have the protection needed to last long enough for help to arrive if you get rushed. The BV for this is around 2,000 which is a lot higher than I want to allow but I'll let it slide as long as you don't want to go changing things quickly.

Weapon/Equipment Locations:
Right Arm: ER PPC + Capacitator, Double Heat sink 2
Right Torso: ER PPC + Capacitator, Double Heat sink 2
Center Torso: SSRM2, SmPL
Left Torso: ER PPC + Capacitator, Double Heat sink 2
Left Arm: SSRM2, Double Heat Sink 2
Left Leg: SSRM Ammo (50)

The other 12 heat sinks are engine mounted.
