How do you keep the FCS from being screwed when it tries to fire two missiles in sequence and registers a fault?Ularn wrote:According to the wiki, Long-Range Missiles only come in multiples of five, so you can get LRM-5s, 10s, 15s or 20s but not 18s. However, I can't think of any good reason that someone couldn't just dismantle an LRM 20, discard two of the missile tubes, and cobble the rest together into a slightly smaller launcher and call it an LRM-18. If the LRM 20 in question came from salvage then it could even be justified by saying that two of the tubes were fubar so Cinder and the Grease Monkey made do with what they had.
Also, I thought it might make for an interesting scene at some point when Arclight or another officer walks into the hangar and demands to know why Chris and Seb have partially dismantled one quarter of their unit's air support and left it scattered all over the place in the name of SCIENCE!

I assumed any mechanic who knows how to fit and repair an LRM launcher would know how to calibrate and, if necessary, reprogram the fire control system. Telling an LRM-20 system that it's now an LRM-18 probably involves a bit of complicated programming but I wouldn't have thought it would be impossible.
EDIT: Actually, been doing some tinkering with the drawing and I can actually get an LRM-15 to fit anyway so I'll just go with that and save the hassle. It was basically a question of how you get the tubes arranged in a circular shape without it looking naff and I figured it out so we're fine.
