However, I can't think of any good reason that someone couldn't just dismantle an LRM 20, discard two of the missile tubes, and cobble the rest together into a slightly smaller launcher and call it an LRM-18. If the LRM 20 in question came from salvage then it could even be justified by saying that two of the tubes were fubar so Cinder and the Grease Monkey made do with what they had.

Also, I thought it might make for an interesting scene at some point when Arclight or another officer walks into the hangar and demands to know why Chris and Seb have partially dismantled one quarter of their unit's air support and left it scattered all over the place in the name of SCIENCE!
Okay, that's the physical. How do you keep the FCS from being screwed when it tries to fire two missiles in sequence and registers a fault?

Not trying to pick like another RPer, just saying :P

I assumed any mechanic who knows how to fit and repair an LRM launcher would know how to calibrate and, if necessary, reprogram the fire control system. Telling an LRM-20 system that it's now an LRM-18 probably involves a bit of complicated programming but I wouldn't have thought it would be impossible.

EDIT: Actually, been doing some tinkering with the drawing and I can actually get an LRM-15 to fit anyway so I'll just go with that and save the hassle. It was basically a question of how you get the tubes arranged in a circular shape without it looking naff and I figured it out so we're fine.

Born:3045
Age:22
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 180
Call Sign: Mage
For Alex Arcuno life is all statistics. He can't remember anything before his 21 birthday, and is trying to figure out what happened. Alex awoke inside a tube after what was described as a "traumatic" event. He immediately was thrown "back" into the midst of devout Word of Blake followers, and they almost all knew him. Things he had supposedly done were ruthless, calculating, and tactically brilliant. He was supposedly so loyal that after a "suicide" run he was pieced back together and "improved". By adding Cybernetic implants including, Pain Shunts, Enhanced Multi-Modal Ear/Eye/Speech with Boosted Transmitting/Recording/Transmitting, and a Filtration Liver/Lung Alex has advanced reflexes and capabilities, but is no way a tank.At first re-integration went smoothly, Alex was a natural Mech Warrior and operative. He had a very specific skill set: eloquent violence. However, things began to seem wrong. Stories did not match up. Circumstances seem forced. Events became muddled. After awhile Alex needed out. Along with a few other discontents Alex began a way to fake their deaths. Arranging a fire fight with a group of traitors who had been siphoning off funds and investing them in industry. In a large explosion the small group was able to seize several experimental mechs and fighters. Along with the experimental equipment the group managed to "liberate" the substantial financial assets that were siphoned off by the agents they "liquidated". Unfortunately the substantial funds are tied up in long term investments and money is needed fast for repairs and maintenance. This leaves Alex looking for money and contacts to help him discover who he is, and if Alex is really his name.

Revised Mech Design for Approval:

Modified Awesome 9M

Armor- 15 tons of ferro-fibrous armor

Weapons-
-Right Arm-3 Enhanced Extended Range PPCs with PPC Capacitors
-Left Arm-Enhanced Retractable Blade
Chest- Dual set of Streak Srm 2s slaved to the C3i for Close Quarters and  Anti-Air

Counter Measures-
-Improved Guardian ECM Suite
-Bloodhound Experimental Probe

Maneuverability-
-Six Improved Jump Jets

Engine-
-Hermes Xl 320

Cooling-
-30 double Heat Sinks

Targeting-
-Improved C3 Computer

I cut off all experimental gear and armor cybernetics off Alex. All he has now are a couple support features. That means chasing down mechs and ripping their pilots out through their roofs is now out. :P Additionally, all expensive stuff was cut off the new awesome mech except for the computer and probe, and the ECM suite was cut to a guardian since you didn't want the Angel ECM used. The computer, capacitor, and ECM suite are where the old medium laser and small laser were. Once we jump to the jihad and upgrade could I get an aerospace fighter?

When's non-Mechwarrior personnel going to be invited to the base? My armored cavalry is waiting.

Also, can I change it around a little? I'm going to keep the Glory FSV, but use three Merkava IXs supported by rocket and tube arty: Three Thumpers and one Heavy LRM Carrier. Air support will be two Hawk Moths for CAS and one Anhur Transport for five Infiltrator Mk IIs with an extra five tonnes for whatever.

Land-based Battle Armor is four Salamander AP variants and five Phalanxes. They're transported by two Laser Saxons. Lastly, three Heavy APCs, one of each motive type, transport an upsized company of varying types, but mostly dominated by heavy infantry.

I deliberately made this much larger than before because the GSS is entirely lacking in armored cavalry support otherwise.

EDITED UNIT COUNT:

4x Merkava IX
1x Glory FSV
1x Partisan
2x Patton
1x Rommel Howitzer
3x Thumper Artillery
1x Heavy LRM Carrier
2x Hawk Moth
1x Ahnur
2x Laser Saxon
3x Heavy APC
5x Infiltrator Mk II
4x Salamander AP
5x Phalanx
6x Heavy Infantry Platoon

Didn't SaintB mention at some point that he was treating support personnel as though they'd been on-base for weeks or months? I think it was in the IC thread somewhere - I'll try and find it.

Oh, so have my posts about Chris and Jaz mucking about in the hangar where the 'mechs and fighters are stored together and then taking a quick walk across the parade ground to the barracks possibly messed up some sort of arrangement? I can arrange an edit if need be.

None of our 'Mechs are currently at the training base, which is several kilometres away from the main base with all the hangars and the HPG. Part of the reason SaintB's character went back there was to arrange transportation for the 'Mechs, so we could begin in-'Mech trials.

So yes, you may have fucked things up, however seeing as all support personnel are also back at the main base, so long as you haven't had them interact with the GSS MechWarriors face-to-face (MechWarriors in other units are fair game NPC's), you should be fine.

Okay. Chris did talk to one of your 'mechwarriors (Jaz - my other character - though OOCly she's not been assigned a lance yet) at the main base but that can be dismissed on the basis that she was trying to repair her 'mech's cockpit after part of a gyroscope ripped through it prior to her signing on with GSS. Since she won't be in the training exercise unless it gets fixed, it makes sense that she'd still be at the main base working on it.
