Just a question, I'm fine grabbing a Mech, but I'm used to dealing with Tanks primarily when doing the tabletop (or rather it's internet equivalent).

Any room for a tanker? If not, I'll do up a standard Mech registration sheet.

OOC: What experience do you have with Battletech? Played the games, burned out my copies, (in the case of Mechwarrior, quite literally!)

It was already pointed out once the Leopard was settled on. Your mech checks out but I need a bio from you for both characters and an age change for your Mechwarrior. 22 is too young for a freelance mechwarrior unless you were a gladiator and not a military boy. It takes 4 - 6 years to train a Mechwarrior and they serve at least 4 years so like 24 -25 is about the earliest they can become freelance (unless you have a biographical reason if you can come up with one than I'll take it)
In a lot of the Mechwarrior games you have a young 18-20 something main character but they are usually Davion nobility - the Federated Suns has a law where the nobility must serve 5 years as a Mechwarrior and they train from a very young age.

I know.

Doesn't mean we can't dream. Or grab a read-hot torch and fuck canon right up it's tight ass.

Hate to bust your other bubble too but... the Dropship needs its 9 crew, the automation to replace the crew would mean it couldn't carry Mechs or fighters. The Dropship crew of 9 is the minimum 3 gunners, chef, 2 pilots, and 3 technicians needed to keep her running in atmosphere or Deep Space 24/7

Two someone else's who are already registered asked for the tanks; if you want to have a Mechwarrior feel free to sign up though. If you want a secondary character you could still make a technician, medical officer, or aerospace pilot. Once a tank group is made you could make the commander of one of the tanks maybe.

OOOOOKAAAYYY

Several things:
I have decided for simplification reasons that secondary characters are already GSS members assigned to Bear's Brigade

I'm TGing a couple people that never finished their Biography

RP will be done in Episodes: Episode 1 will be on Outreach, it will be the recruitment/get to know you/get used to the system RP and will involve a live combat practice exercise to determine skill levels of pilots and et-cet-ra. It will be sort of like how modern fighter jet pilots train, in their vehicles in mock combat with no live weapons and will count points for a 'hit'.

Following Episodes will be real missions leading up to the Jihad (1 or 2 prolly nothing too tough) and then the Jihad, some of the missions I planned for during the Jihad include some things nobody has ever heard of like the capture of an HPG terminal.

Biographical Information:
Born and soon escaped from the fringe world Verlo nestled snugly within the Cappelan March, Basil joined up with the FedCom Military as soon as he had enough C-Bills to get off of his homeworld. He enlisted on the nearest major trade hub at the age of nineteen. After completing basic training and the orientation courses for Mech training, he finished his training just in time for his 23rd birthday, which happened to be exactly one week before half the galaxy declared war on itself. Quick changes of allegiance, friends now enemies, and new unit and military badges on his uniform, Basil's first combat tour was against people he may very well have trained with. Four years later, he found himself hardened by the experience, and no longer felt that the military he joined was the same now as it was then, and set out on his own. He managed to dump what money he had earned and the inheritance he acquired when Verlo got hit and his parents snuffed it into purchasing a Mech and a ticket to mercenary recruiting outpost.

I think the worst part is the whole "we need all the crew" thing.

You sure we can't use a larger ship, maybe just massively upscale a stock Leopard or Lung Wang, OP?

Growing up, the two had a number of family ties and friends whom all provided positive on their lives. Their absurdly rich uncle for one owned his own personal collection of battlemechs, from antiques to experimental. The twins were free to do pretty much as they wished with the machines, provided they asked first. They would spend many a day helping maintain the machines, growing to love and respect the delicate inner workings and powerful engines. Years latter, they were introduced to the family business on their mother's side. Gladiator fighting.
Their mother's side of the tree had owned and operated their own arena, all the while acquiring talented pilots, not to mention a collection of powerful mechs and the serious hardware to put in and on them. The family made frequent trips to spectate at tournaments. Once the kids were old enough, the family began grooming them to take up the business. And no arena master shouldn't know how to pilot the monstrosities that would bring them great wealth. And so it was that they also began getting their first lessons on combat. While never actually having a single live fire training exercise, the boys did get plenty of hands on experience in the cockpit and behind the controls, even going so far as to participate in several "foot races" in the untamed outskirts of their home.
When they weren't in school or being instructed, the two were free to practice their skills in their chosen fields. Pallum had demonstrated exceptional skill in maneuvering and tactics, whilst Pollum became a prodigy behind the controls of vehicles, specifically anything that left the ground for any measure of time.
Fast forward several years, mishaps, and all manner of absurd hi-jinks latter, the twins graduated from their university and were left without a job. It would be quite some time until they took up running the arena, and until then, they would have to find something else. Confident in their abilities, the family decided to introduce them to the other family business on the other side of the family tree. Gladiator fighting.
Their father's side of the family was an old mercenary squadron that had decided to take a break from the deadly combat and shift to the entertainment industry, which was also how their parents happened to meet. Absurd? Very much so. Now that that's addressed, we'll continue on. Cue montage of arena fights, ending both good and bad. Eventually, though, they got bored quite fast and decided to get a little closer to the edge, partially due to their father's urgings, though, being BFFs with a number of military people didn't help any. It was thus that the twins decided to look for employment as mercenaries, offering their services as warrior and pilot respectively.

Subject to change,... but it'll do for now.

The only good Wobby is a dead Wobby.

I still don't understand how we're going to use two DropShips with 9 crewmembers each, with only enough room for 8 'Mechs and four ASF's between 'em.

There are more than two, and GSS can also get support from their contract holders if they have too. There are just two PC pilots - the rest are NPC's. There are also canonically hundreds of freelance dropships and jumpships
