Yeah... but isn't that sort of the fun of having LRM-20s? Firing them off all at once and making the battlefield nice and shady... at least for a moment anyway?SaintB wrote:Hardened Pyrokinetics wrote:I haven't been keeping track myself.
you were loaded up with like 5-6 tons of LRM ammo as I recall...
EDIT: 5 tons, that was enough for 12 full salvos of missile fire and another 2 shots left. So you have like 7 and a half full volleys left. If you don't fire all launchers at once you can stay in the fight a long time yet at missile range
Not to be that guy... but where exactly is Warhound going? The overhead map was included in my latest post for Kat, but just for a quick primer, there is no Southeast of the facility. Southeast means instant death for this simulated mission...

...so if one of her lancemates gets a rotund mech do they have to call it the Fry?Ularn wrote:Oblivion2 wrote:I think if for some reason I lose the Cataphtact imma grab me a hammer hands
If Jaz looses Bulldyke (and survives) I'm gonna see if I can get her a Lupus. It will be called Laurie, for reasons which may be clear depending on your taste in bitchin' medical dramas. If she doesn't survive, my next character's getting a Wraith.
), why go with the Lupus? Why not go bigger and badder with an O-Bakemono?

I've always wondered about that sort of weight-saving. I mean sure, Endo-Steel, Ferro-Fiberous and XL engines on their own can be pretty good weight savers... but is the decreased critical slot availability worth implementing more than one of those weight-saving measures? I mean sure you can add a big "headchopper" weapon in a relatively smaller mech, but then how much does a mech give up in firepower when it can't mount as many smaller weapons or heat dissipation or electronic warfare?

And if the Bulldyke is destroyed (although it would be much cooler to see it torn up then rebuilt...IMHO), why go with the Lupus? Why not go bigger and badder with an O-Bakemono?

Ah, but you see, the O-Bakemono is a full 20 tons heavier than Catapult. Moreover, the O-Bakemono is used by Comstar, so theoretically, the Word of Blake could have their hands on a few as well.Ularn wrote:Northern Dominus wrote:...so if one of her lancemates gets a rotund mech do they have to call it the Fry?

Meh, the OBK looks cool but it just seems like an up-armoured C-3 Catapult minus the jumpjets, whereas the Lupus is like Bulldyke on steroids; lighter, faster and with better guns and an ECM suite for extra sneak. And since it's an omnimech we can do all sorts of tinkering with the loadout for funsies. Admittedly the ammo capacity takes a bit of a beating but overall it's only half a ton less per launcher than The C4 Catapult.
Okay, so you have AC/10's and ammo...what else would this mech utilize?Oblivion2 wrote:Hammerhands is a 75 I think so it works. AC/10s arnt that big, medium lasers surely arnt, PPC would probably be on par with the SRM-6 due to ammo. So at that point I'd imagine you'd have plenty of crit slots left to slap either endo or ferro on it in order to fit either more heat sinks, up them to double, or add more AC/10 ammo for extended engagements

Heat sinks or atleast up them to doubles. I'm big on custom 'Mechs XD
Seems like whole-hog weight saving should be left to mechs that are 70 tons and up...
