With that being said, I understand why you can't actively participate, but if I may be so bold, as co-OP I have a proposition: with your permission I would be willing to take over authorship of Kat Fuego and keep her in the game. That way, when you recover and if you wish to return at full capacity, there is no "put on a bus" for Kat, she'll be involved the entire time.

And no matter what, may this procedure go smoothly and your recovery be swift.

Sure, I'll Tg you the details about Kat.
Alright, cool. It would be most helpful if a psychological profile could be worked up for her, would help me get in her head a lot easier.

And may your recovery be that much more speedy as well.

Um... let's see here...

AJ/Eve/Tamina. AJ dies because the crazy chick thing was done before and better by Victoria/Tara/Lisa (whatever she's calling herself these days) and I am sworn to destroy everything neckbeards hold dear, Eve is good for a romp because of the BJJ applications, and Tamina is marriage worthy because I've met her and she's fucking awesome.

Ok then HP, your turn.

And I've been thinking about this whole Punk/Rocky angle, and there is a very Batman style thing going here, and the sad part is the WWE "Universe" doesn't get it... hence why it's going to be epic in more ways than just the basic promos and the match.

Vicky/Natalya/Kaitlyn

Vicky's overdone and she'd probably be happier back with Eddie. I'd marry Natalya but she's with Tyson, so a one night stand will do. Because of that, Kaitlyn for marriage and perpetual boning.

Apologies for the incredibly short post, one of my workers got into a FUBAR situation on a job-site so I'll likely be busy as all get out over the rest of the weekend and I didn't want to hold ya'all up. Oh well, no rest for the wicked right?

Hmm, never thought of that answer...

So to bring this back to 'Tech, I'll name a pro wrestler, and you pair them with a signature 'mech, then justify why. Obviously then you name another pro and I'll match it up.

So let's see...oh I'll make it easy: Edge.

Also, have you figured out the CM Punk/Rock and Batman connection yet? Aside from the obvious self-reference.

Yes I did reference the soundtrack :p

No, not fired just incompetent/stupid/unsupervised. We were building a deck for this guy with steel I-beams as support (It's a massive deck the dude plans on putting CARS on :palm: Why? anyhow) and my guy cut it six inches too short. The Almighty Code demands such supports be single pieces so I can't just weld it back together and call it good so I have to try and shuffle around materials in such a way that I don't just lose the $1500 the beams cost me.

I am going to have a LONG, uncomfortable chat with the worker. There will most likely be tears...From me.

Oh c'mon, at least try. Think of Edge, think of his wrestling style IE throwing himself at everybody really hard, sometimes paying for it.
So what mech has a big punch and is really fast but tends to be...

Ok fine, I'll give you an easier one: Stone Cold Steve Austin. What mech would he use?

As far as the Rock/Punk thing...try again, think of CM Punk as Batman and go from there...

The soundtrack...er no... the link to the whole thing is in my sig, the closest it gets is Godsmack or Linkin Park.... sorry :( Hopefully there's enough to get excited about anyway

Why don't YOU answer one: Colt Cabana

And I can't see Punk as Batman...

Why don't YOU answer one: Colt Cabana

And I can't see Punk as Batman...
Easy: Colt would use a Cudgel. It's a lightning bruiser like Colt (can run at close to 100kph with Triple Strength Myomer), and the big mace means he could still use his deavistating bitch-slap.

Alright, your turn: What kind of mech would Kane use?

And CM Punk is Batman, a hybridization of the comics and Nolanverse but he is Batman. Consider if you will:
Like Batman, CM Punk is utterly dedicated to his cause, in this case being a locus of change and disrupting the status quo. Both use any means nessecary, whether it seems fair or not. And in the end they both want the same thing, a better world than the one they currently occupy, and if people have to hate them for it then so be it. Like the rest of society, the WWE Universe doesn't like people taking shortcuts no matter what the intended outcome is. Case in point, CM Punk took the wins over Ryback in stride and without batting an eye, just like Batman uses intimidation, technology, and crippling force to take down bad guys who might be called "good kids but misguided" in certain circles.

CM Punk and Batman are also freaks. Batman is a freak because...well he's Batman. CM Punk is a freak because he isn't the jacked-up superman image. If you've seen the DVD you know the story, he's a tattooed loudmouth who was overlooked time and again. To the WWE Universe he's still a freak mainly because of the straightedge lifestye, a lifestyle that is foreign to a vast majority of the universe and instantly paints him as "the other" in addition to his look.

Also, like Batman, CM Punk sees his quest in terms of black and white. Oh it was fine for the WWE Universe when he took on the obvious establishment like John Lauranitis and Alberto Del Rio, but the second he crossed over and took out their "hero", The Rock, suddenly the WWE Universe turned on him. And yet, what did The Rock do to earn his title shot? What put him ahead of a lot of other hard workers like Daniel Bryan Danielson or Tyson Kidd or even Wade Barrett? What did Rocky do to earn his place other than use his charisma and influence to insinuate himself in the title picture?

Ergo, you have the WWE Champion CM Punk. He's a freak who will use shortcuts, intimidation and force to see his quest for change through. The WWE Universe doesn't like that. The WWE Universe likes an "even" playing field where their icons will reign supreme and essentially bully everyone IE Cena and The Rock, and they don't like what CM Punk has to say these days because the truth hurts now. It hurt back in 2011 as well and some of them didn't appreciate it as well.

Hey,

So back around the beginning of October I found myself unemployed and it took me another month to find a new job. Somewhere in amongst that or shortly afterwards NS basically fell completely off my radar. Sorry about that. I think I'm back now and I was wondering if there's any chance that I can rejoin the RP with one or both of my characters or whether my prolonged absence too difficult?

Alright, well so far Walter engaged and destroyed a Jenner, while waiting around James had a psychotic break and charged a Dervish and Centurion that appeared then quickly got into trouble. In the meantime Artemus effectively took command of the mission, regrouped the remaining participating forces in the northwest region of the woods, then sent the two scouts (Walter and Julius) to scout the facility and use Bear's ECMs as cover. In the meantime, Artemus re-engaged the Dervish and Centurion that James had regrouped and were looking to make mincemeat out of his Vulture.

That's about where things are in a nutshell, simplistically anyway.

Trying to put together a post at the moment but I've kind of lost my place. Besides presumably screaming angrily at James to get back into formation, what's the support lance been doing, and are they in range to shoot at anything?

EDIT: Also, how common is friendly fire in Battletech when you're firing missiles. As in, if Jaz were to flush her launchers while aiming at the Centurion that just dicked on Timber Wolf, would there be a chance of hitting James or Ronin or anyone else by accident?

Think I got something suitable up to cover Jaz's actions during my absence. Now on to better, less rushed posts :)

Well the support lance is effectively split in two.

Bear is running screen for the scouts, using his ECMs as cover and providing a bit extra firepower if they run into any more OPFOR. James as you know went berserk and decided to attack the Dervish and Centurion.

Best option is following Artemus' order for any mech that isn't doing the scouting run, so engaging the Dervish and/or the Centurion would be best COA for Jazz then.

As far as the friendly fire...I can only speak to the Mechwarrior games (although I'm looking into MegaMek as well now), and friendly fire with LRM's is possible, but as long as its a careful shot it should be minimal. Sure a stray missile here and there might go off track and run the potential of hitting either the Bushwacker or the Vulture, but a large part of that salvo should under normal circumstances hit whatever it was being aimed at.

Remember however that missiles produce a lot of waste heat as well... ignore that bit if my memory is hazy and you have played a mechwarrior game at some point.

Uh, Ularn, why is Jazz going to support the Scout Lance? The whole idea is that OPFOR sees the scrum going on west of the facility to add to the distractions along with the ECMs...plus Artemus kindly "suggested" that everyone else crash the fight going on currently and let the Scouts do their thing.

Okay, I'll edit the very last bit of my post so that Jaz is sticking with Dom to take out the Dervish and Centurion. Having read the posts now, I'm pretty sure Dom's too far away from the target Centurion to be hit by Jaz's missiles, although the vulture and Dervish might be close enough. We can see what SaintB says when he posts damage.

And although I've never played any Mechwarrior games, I suspected that it would be a pretty major design flaw to give a 'mech more missile pods than it could fire without overheating. Jaz may be limited to firing one pod at a time for a while now until her 'mech cools down but I'm pretty sure she ought to be able to manage at least one full salvo from cold without any risk of overheating. More than that might be a problem if she tries to fire in quick succession but I'll let SaintB have the final verdict on that as well.

Cool. Again she can do what she wishes, Artemus only took command because things were going to hell and nobody decided to step up but nothing's official, but I wasn't sure if you saw the big pack o' order/suggestions.

As far as the waste heat thing goes, it's sort of a thing in Battletech. See Battlemechs are sealed vehicles. That's why they can operate in the wastes of space or underwater with ease. However that sealed nature means that waste heat generated by firing weapons or the activating of the plastic myomer muscles (the stuff that makes Battlemechs run), doesn't have anywhere to go without heat sinks.

You're right about the firing one full salvo. She might be able to fire two without real adverse effects, but heat builds with weapons fire and not letting it vent means that plastics melt, electrics fry, and stuff eventually 'splodes (all of which is bad).

The battletech wiki has a lot more info about heat sinks and the waste heat principle:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Heat_Sinks

I remember reading that at some point, and I'm also enough of a sci-fi nerd to understand the need for heat sinks (AKA radiators) in spacecraft. I figured that heat sinks in the Battletech universe were effectively like your modern-day radiators, exhausts or air-vents (but more complex); they dump the waste heat generated by the mech's engines and weapons. The more you have of them, the faster this heat can be dumped and the longer you can keep moving/jumping/shooting. With enough heat sinks, you could conceivably keep shooting forever without any risk of overheating but very few 'mechs use such a design since it would necessitate a very small armament to generate minimal heat and lots of heat sinks. For everyone else your heat buildup from weapons fire is going to outpace your heat sinks ability to deal with it and eventually you're going to have to either stop shooting and wait for the sinks to catch up or carry on and run the risk of melting and other unpleasantness.

That all sound about right?
