Now would be a good time to show up in the simulator, BTW.

Nope. If they don't post, sucks to be them.

You know...we could have said the same about you. We could have lead the charge without you, without giving you the chance to re-enter. Instead we treated you as a brother-in-arms, and you're back in.

Should we not extend the same courtesy to our fellow lance-mates until we get a definitive answer?

I'm alive and still here, Christmastime was cwazy. Ended up flying out on Christmas Eve to see family. What. A. Nightmare.

The Seattle airport on Christmas Eve is as close to hell on this Earth as one will ever come I am fairly certain.

Oh trust me, you've not seen anything until you've seen O'Hare shut down because of snow....and close to a thousand people demanding to know what's going on or refunds at the same time. Hence why the train is so much better.

But, I have good news for you as well. Since you were busy... I made a Battletechmas request General Kerensky himself.... I think the gift is around here somewhere...

And thank you for contributing BTW :D

I'm trying something new with the the IC hit posts, I hope it doesn't break the mood but its to help me and you understand how damaged someone gets in battle and since I am running this from multiple computers right now I need some kind of indicator I can jump to. The bold number is the exact amount of damage dealt to a 'mech and the color indicates the relative condition of the component. Armor damage is dealt to the armor while damage is dealt to the actual 'mech. Locations that take actual damage will be colored to indicate their status.

Some of you might notice that weapons don't always deal their full damage, I did this to simulate the fact that not all hits are solid shots and to account for movement.

I had intended for the missiles to be at medium range, just far enough for the missiles to arm, but okay.

Keep weapon range in mind while posting bro. The MGs and Pulse Lasers have half the range of the minimum arming range for the missiles and I didn't see any mention of adding distance - my assumption was that you were just hammering away on them.

Actually when I think of it if you guys wish to do so you can put something that describes your actions after the post such as:

Big cool post right here!

Well it's NYC. There are plenty of reasons to hate NYC... try Chicago sometime. Has all the advantages of NYC without coming with an extra thick helping of upper east coast snootery.

As far as the RP goes, the diversion tactic has appeared to have worked so far. The Centurion and Dervish are now completely focused other than on the Locust and Osiris. However the initiative has completely changed thanks to James having a traumatic break in his cockpit and charging out of formation. Seeing how this could work to their advantage, Artemus has called an audible and is attempting to get everyone to regroup in order to launch another attempt at a raid. He's requested/ordered Priest and Andromeda to reverse direction, switch sensors into passive mode and fall back behind his current position.
He also admonished James, imploring him through his screaming, to fire a salvo at the Dervish, then withdraw, break visual contact, and rejoin formation at an alternate rally point.

That alternate rally point is approximately in the middle of the NE corner of the woods. Anyone who isn't actively engaged or wasn't directly addressed has been invited to join him at that location, especially Bear with guardian ecm activated.

Once everyone looks like they're in then he'll call the new plan of action.

Hey, no complaints from me. The only thing I ask is maybe...y'know...sharing the formula with your deputy OP? I'd do something similar but I have no way of knowing the exact TT formula. Trying to learn the books from Sarna.net but it's a bit laborious lol.

Any mechwarrior game really...well except for MWO, dunno if they 'splode on contact without locking if minimum distance is breached there either. But then again, remember the games were spawned from Battletech, so its usually a good idea to differ to the source material for the most part.

Besides, I think James has a few more pressing concerns right at the moment...

Well then, James might want to upgrade to one of these in the future:

And hey, whomever is giggling at that design, just remember that it may be only packing two weapons but one of them is an A/C-10 backed by a fairly decent amount of ammo. If it weren't for the AI being ridiculously stupid in Mechwarrior 2: Mercs, that 4th mission on New Ivaarson would have been a helluva lot harder.

As Co-OP, I have my first official big announcement to make. After receiving the blessing...and a bit of excellent writing from SaintB, I can now officially announce that a secondary IC Battletech thread is now open and operating.

It's called Battletech: Memory Core, and it is a place where current players can post short stories about their characters, detailing their past lives and actions before arriving at GSS, or about their tenure thus far in the case of long-time Guns Special Squadron members.
The reasoning for this thread is simple: while we regain momentum, I realize that some of us want to flesh out their character's backstories in some fashion. Rather than have random flashbacks or have to wait for dialogue, if its a story one feels is worth telling, now they have an avenue to do so.

Here's the catch however: in order to write stories for memory core, a player must be an active participant in the primary thread.

So please, all active posting authors head on over, check out memory core, and don't be afraid to put your best storytelling effort forward. It will only make the small Battletech universe in NationStates that much richer.

Once again, here's a linky to the new IC sub-thread:

That 'Memory Core' thing is a neat idea. I'll be plugging away at something to stick in there, but it might take a while (or come in multiple smaller incomplete parts).

He's in the woods and northwest of James' Position. Not exactly in the best position to see what James is doing. All he can see is the simulated overhead satellite link, which basically shows James' blip and the Centurion's blip right next to each other. So its not that he wouldn't be going "holy shit" if he saw the actual move, he just can't see it.

Plus...how the hell is James getting a Mad Dog to kick anyway? I thought clan trueborn pseudo-mysticism dictated that physical attacks were highly dis-honorable. Granted James is a freeborn inner sphere barbarian like a lot of the characters but that still doesn't explain how you get a Clan mech to pull an attack that, while capable of, probably wasn't programed to perform...

Awesome, looking forward to the results. I'm still working on my opening story as well. I debated whether or not to post it off the bat without some sort of story to back it up, but I figured better to get it out now and get people inspired to write rather than hold it off.
