I asked the Great Kerensky for a Co-Op with full GM powers and Northern Dominus showed up stuffed in my mail box... at work... it was awkward but Battlemechmas miracles are never quite what you'd expect.

Ehh anyway Dom is now the official Co-Op of the RP and move combat forward as well as accept applications in my stead in case I end up disappearing again, or if I feel lazy.
Hi my name is SaintB and I am prone to sarcasm and hyperbole. It's a holiday, I'm sure your work understands....hopefully :?

Suffice it to say, co-OP is a duty I shall endeavor to execute fairly and expediently whenever possible. Fair warning, it's my first run at any sort of oversight in this sort of endeavor, so if I have to deliberate on an issue or take time coming up with posts, or seem like I've ignored somebody, please just TG me and ask semi-nicely. I'll do the best I can but I'm not perfect. I'm only human, and not even a "trueborn" at that.

But, with a little conferring with SaintB, I shall endeavor to regain our momentum and propel the chronicles of the GSS back into the public sphere as we once were. But I can't do it alone, so if anyone is active and reading this right now please PLEASE, post IC if you haven't already and try to bring quality people in.

So unless more people become active, it looks like GSS is going to become GSL - Gun Special Lance. Only active posters are myself, Dom, SaintB, and sometimes OD, with each of us taking on a support element (Dropship, Infantry, Armour, and Aerospace) to keep things running smoothly.

I volunteer to take the Infantry or Dropship. Pretty sure OD would prefer Armour.

Any additions you can make are good. As I detailed to Saint, in the coming weeks I shall be making my own NPC additions as well. Just post it up, I'll take a look and whatnot.

The other thing is, of course, both bugging people who haven't posted in awhile and simultaneously talking to people who may be interested in Battletech in some fashion. And of course, momentum, which cannot be accomplished without participation from everybody.

As war historians we're familar with Red Army Order 227, which famously declared "Not one Step Back", as we're familiar with the same proclamation from the same era, "Nuts!". We're even familiar with Greneral Kerensky's General Order 137, the "Hidden Hope Doctrine" where he declared that the ideals of the Star League would be held in the future of society beyond the Perihiphiary.

Today, on this holiday, acting in my capacity as co-OP and with the authority granted my by the Commanding OP, SaintB, I issue GSS Order 1. The text of the order in its entirety reads as following:

"Screw it. Advance!"

Take from that what you will, but rest assured, today is the start of the resurgence.

I already have a Dropship pilot/commander, but I can easily switch to a mobilized Infantry battalion if SaintB would rather take Dropship.

I think SaintB will be willing to take whatever we can get at this point, so maybe have the infantry in reserve, work on it a bit?

Just have him jack in at the original rally point and have him move in from there to assist efforts. Combat is taking place on the eastern edge of the forest in the clearing before the firebase on the east side.

Original rally point was due north of the forest in the center. And no, HP means well but no blue on blue for now. Later perhaps...

Nope, they are another team of probationary members, they even got the same 200 CBill paychecks lol.

Its about half of what a house infantryman sees in a week. 200 CBills for a single day of being tested is decent pay. I take it back, it was 400 Cee's which is weekly pay for a private in the infantry.

GSS gets 25,000 per week per 'mech and you get 1/10 of that as your paycheck when your in.

So yeah, right now, we've got a single Lance:

Seems like a pretty decent group, even with all the dicks.

Yeah well since the PBI are unfit to handle the greatest war machines to stomp every dirt and mudball in known space they're clearly unfit for larger sums of c-bills as well :p

This is for Oblivion's benefit and sort of a refresher.

What is going on right now is a competitive simulation. There are two teams of 12 pilots each all in sim pods and battling over simulated terrain. Your team (the PC team) is tasked with capturing a high value installation and securing the area until reinforcements can arrive, the secondary goal is to prevent any serious damage to the infrastructure of the installation.

The Map

You are located in the forest a little bit northwest of the target and are part of Northern Dominus's lance of brawlers. Dom is scurrying back into the woods and recently had two enemies trying to shoot at him, the team's scouts are hanging around in the open area directly north of the installation and southish of you is the support lance which is me and Hardened Pyros. We've been running mostly passive sensors to avoid getting sensor pings and sticking to the trees to avoid line of sight but now things are getting chaotic and the fight is about to become a skirmish or a full fledged battle.

One enemy 'mech was taken down already but that leaves 11 enemies that so far you and 9 you haven't been able to detect.

Battle armor is usually called Armor, tanks and other wheeled, tracked, or hovered things are called Vees. And in case you wonder, a Battle Armor specialist is usually given the same pay as 4 infantry privates.

Really? Cause I like to call them "Canned crunchie things". Sure they take a little more effort to crack open, but a trusty medium pulse laser is usually more than enough to deal with most armor.
BTW, what's the standard VTOL for GSS? Need it for the scout element.

Ehhm.. there isn't one? GSS has been all 'mechs since its inception. They only added a very small contingent of Vees during the civil war when they bought up a company named Eddie's Irregulars (and by bought up I mean they had no job and no way off planet and GSS said well we got a job and a way off the planet)

So very little infantry as well then I'd imagine? Nothing small scale about GSS.

So basically name any VTOL within reason and it's "Standard" I assume? And if that's the case then maybe I should work up a support vehicle battalion or something.
