I defended a close friend and mentor of mine against another RPer a bit too aggressively.

- Do these simulators use some sort of "generic" mech cockpit layout? OR are the controls aside from the sticks and pedals all "glass" and therefore can reasonably simulate the layout of most known mechs?
- Could these simulators possibly be loaded with specs of specific mechs...say a Bushwacker with a custom weapons loadout and a targeting computer with the pertinent data and a dedicated jump-drive device?

So....they have "generic" instead of "glass" layouts, AND specific mech setups can be loaded into the simulator then?SaintB wrote:Northern Dominus wrote:Okay I have two questions about these simulators

That's the idea of them, they are advanced enough to simulate different weapon loadouts and they hook directly into the nuerohelmet so that the display is the same as in a battlmech. The controls and footpedals are set up for the 'typical layout' of a Battlemech, a good tech can actually program a few of the quirks of movement that each 'mech has too to more closely simulate a warriors personal ride. They can also handle different ammunition loadouts and such. Outside of the NAIS and Comguard they are about as good a simulator as you'll find.
GSS has simulators of its own but only a few and they were made during the fourth succession war.

Alright maybe a sneak preview is in order....SaintB wrote:Yes Dom and even some of the quirks. If for instance the mech 'shifts hard' when you change the throttle too fast than the sim can do that if the engine bleeds more heat than usual (or less) than it can do that.

Now I just have to figure out how the data and specs on Artemus' currently non combat-viable Bushwacker can be loaded into the simulator in fully functioning form...hmmm...Neurohelmet data bank maybe? As I've mentioned I have limited experience with the TT, more with the Mechwarrior games.
Edit: forget it, Artemus will just be going with the company Uziel for the sim.

Oh for gods' sake, quit being a pariah about actually contributing. Is the IC moving as fast as it could? No, but that isn't anybody's fault except for dumb luck, so there's no harm in a little exposition before the shooting starts now is there?
. Character developement is as fun as the rest of it is.

I agree, just post some BS like we all have been doing. Character developement is as fun as the rest of it is.
