Well, the French Foreign Legion is often depicted as a place for tragic characters to start over, as well as for criminals to escape justice. The modern Legion does background checks though. That said, it's one reason why Fei is an ex-legionnaire.

Oh, then that would not suit the character I've in mind. He needs a clean-as-possible slate with just that little stain.

Well at least a proper Gallia unit should be name in Gallian 3e Division Blindée (Blindée = Armored) although if he's belong to one of the Gallian armored division or he's belong to an Engineering unit?

He actually does NOT belong to and Engineering unit or an armored division, but after the trial it came out that his knowledge and skills are exceptionally good.
