I'll move everyone to Odessa.

Also, I just realized something. In Season 1, Yoshika gets paid 1 pound, half her monthly pay of 2 pounds. That works out to about 24 GBP per year, not counting whatever bonuses she got. Now, in 1944, that wouldn't seem like too much.

Except today, a 1944 Pound Sterling works out to about 3123.26 dollars. Which means, if the pay was adjusted to USD and for inflation, Ruya makes about 75 thousand dollars a year. And that's just if she was a sergeant. IRL, that'd be a fair salary for a Captain pilot.

Actually, Yoshika was paid 10 pounds in episode 4, half of one month's salary. According to measuringworth.com, in 2010 (the last year for which data is available) that would be worth about £1,070, or about US$1,722.70. Annually that works out to about $41,344.80, about the same as an E-6 with 12 years in service, or an O-2 with fewer than 2, assuming no bonuses or allowances.

My favorite part of that episode was where she tried to think of her salary in terms of rice, though the part where she says she wasn't expecting to be paid and Lynette says that it's just like her was also pretty funny.
