That's what I'm thinking. I wasn't planning on him having insanely powerful divine magic, just some really small things, like maybe being able to tell someone's motives, some basic holy attacks/protection, etc.

Makes so much sense. I can see that happening. You can't go to overboard without a real explanation or drawback so I think you hit the sweet spot on it.
