Boris Johnson wrote:"It is a honour to be in your presence Prime Minister Modi and President Ali, I hope that you enjoy your time at this conference and that we nations of the Commonwealth work together towards solutions that can be of mutual benefit to all our nations.", said Boris as the group walked back over to the long dinner table and sat at their seats.
"What my colleagues and I have proposed is an unprecedented cooperation and union between the member-states. Of course significant national autonomy and self governance will be in order as well. I propose a free trade area between all of our nations, a parliament for the union that will pass some laws that will apply to all the nations, harmonization of regulations across the union, a Commonwealth Space Agency, a Commonwealth Military, a monetary union using the Commonwealth Pound, freedom of movement between many of the member-states. A Commonwealth Court that will serve at the highest court of appeal, etc. It will be very similar to the EU, but much better and have opt-outs too. The seats in the parliament will proportional to the population of each country, so for instance India could have 100 seats, the U.K. 95, Egypt 95, South Africa 75, Canada 75, etc. If you join this organization, it will finally make the Commonwealth as a whole, and India and Egypt especially, superpowers! So I would like to hear your thoughts about this, if you'd like to join, and if you have any suggestions.", said Boris as he sipped some champagne.
Narendra Modi took his seat at the table. He sat just to the right of Ali and looked at all the foods and drinks placed on the table. He pulled a plate up to him and placed some ham and turkey sandwiches on it. "India would be more then willing to participate in all forms of commonwealth co-operation. However I must raise the point that India wishes to be one of, if not the dominant nation participating". He said as he took a bite of a turkey sandwich. "As for the commonwealth pound, how do you intend to keep it stable when a similar idea (the Euro) was attempted but ultimately became a failure. If I remember properly, Britain left the EU because it saw how a single currency wrecked the economy. If this is addressed I see no problem with a single currency being used by the commonwealth." He paused for a moment to take a drink before beginning again. "And the "Commonwealth military" idea seems like a bad idea to me. Well a military agreement would be acceptable I believe all nations should be allowed their own separate military as all of them have different military goals. Other then that, I'm liking the idea of future co-operation between world powers of the basis of a single commonwealth!"
