Would you be willing to do this?”

Senator Kimberly Dunbar
Washington, D.C.

Spreadsheets.

Endless fucking spreadsheets.

Kim had taken the past two weeks off, essentially, in order to campaign for her reelection back home in Kansas, as well as stumping for local Republican candidates in a variety of smaller races. Now, she found herself back in D.C., staring at her computer screen, wondering why she'd decided to put everything into spreadsheets that hurt her eyes to stare at.

As Chair of the NRSC, she had a vast spreadsheet of every Republican up for reelection that year, including herself, as well as every Democrat up for reelection, and every open seat. From there, she'd sorted them into five categories: Smooth Sailing, for Republican incumbents in deep red states who were going to get reelected unless they did something spectacularly stupid; No Chance, for Democrats in deep-blue states who couldn't be toppled unless they did something dumb or the Republican nominee was a highly popular official in the state, like (not-Charlie Baker) in Massachusetts; Struggling Incumbent, for GOP incumbents who needed varying degrees of extra help; Takedown Opportunities, for Democratic incumbents who needed varying degrees of extra help finding a new job; and Interesting Open Seats, for fluid races for open seats.

In her Struggling Incumbent category, she'd listed Clint Guerrera, Agatha Cragin, and Andrew Gardner, in order of severity. Clint, the poor boy, was a lost cause, and Kim had been steadily pulling Committee funding from his campaign as he sunk deeper and deeper in the polls and did nothing about it--not all the funding, she'd left him enough to put up a fight with, but she wasn't going to continue to invest heavily in him.

Agatha was still recieving the same amount of funding, and Kim had committed to leaving her alone. From her understanding, Maine wouldn't take well to national interests trying to meddle in their elections, and she didn't want to hurt Agatha's chances by stepping in unasked.

As for Gardner, Kim had directed more funds his way, to help solidify his outreach and increase his ad buying in the Atlanta suburbs where Washington would be making her play.

In the Interesting Open Seats category, she had the races in Ohio, Louisiana, Texas, Iowa, North Carolina, Michigan, and the special election in Illinois.

Ohio and Louisiana were her current headaches, with Gaspard's eccentricity and Rodman's invisible campaign making her feel like she could use another heart attack. While she couldn't openly favor one candidate or another in the jungle primary, she could at least direct more money to ad buys in Ohio, to attack Vichter for his socialist views, far-left extremism, and association with Jillian Dayton.

In Texas, her once-shaky faith had been solidified, by both Baines' invisible campaign and Crawford's knack for campaigning. She maintained the current level of funding, and decided to avoid interfering too much.

With Nate on the ticket, North Carolina should be an easy win, and Robinson's recent disappearance from the campaign trail was a boon to Adler's campaign. She decided to slightly bump the ad budget afforded to Adler--the election being too close would be almost as embarrassing as losing would be.

Neither Baxten or Garfield had done extreme levels of campaigning in Michigan, giving Kim cause for concern. She sent an email to Baxten's office inquiring as to why he hadn't been out gladhanding voters, and bumped his budget slightly. The situation was the same in Iowa, but with Dunn on the ticket, Ruler's job should be easy. She emailed him as well, and moved along.

The special in Illinois wasn't going exactly how she wanted--namely, it seemed to not be going at all. She got in touch with local and state GOP officials, checking up on their candidate recruitment process, and resolved to tackle that issue later.

Meanwhile, in her Takedown Opportunity category, she had Alaska, Alabama, and Minnesota. She didn't much want Frankie to lose an election, not only due to their friendship but also because Kim would, if she could, have all Democrats be like Francine Sullivan. Fortunately, Alaska was another situation like Maine, where she felt too much intervention would hurt Johnston's campaign. She left him alone and didn't adjust the budget.

In Alabama...to be frank, she had no clue what Mudale was doing. She was young, hot, and Wolfist, and the race was still too tight for Kim's liking. She increased the allotted budget the Committee gave Mudale, because a Republican losing Alabama would be doomsday.

Minnesota was another interesting situation, and she spent quite a bit of time on the phone with state and county GOP leaders, inquiring after potential candidates--former Governor (not-Tim Pawlenty) and former Lieutenant Governor (not-Michelle Fishbach) foremost among them, as well as the State Senate Majority Leader. The search for someone to take down Murphy continued, and part of Kim actually wished Murphy would win--having him in office meant an endless stream of attack ad fodder for her people to work with.

Closing her laptop, she locked her door and laid her head on her desk for a nap.

Nate Richardson
@GovernorRichardson

After months of waiting the Democratic Police Reform bill has finally arrived. But apparently Senator Dayton couldn't be bothered to support it, guess she was checking her watch... But then again it appears all but two members of the Democratic Party refused to sponsor the legislation. Regardless of the content of the bill the Democrats have shown once more they do not care about Law and Order or Police Reform.

The elder Volker nodded as Sadie spoke. As his suspicions were confirmed, a slight smile gradually formed on his face, part of him felt a sense of pride that his own daughter would be running for Congress in the next cycle. Admittedly, Sadie had always been the most politically engaged of his children growing up, with him commonly bringing his second-born on his numerous House campaigns over the years, but the news still managed to come as a small shock to the Missourian.

“Well, I can see why you made the decision to go back to Missouri and run for the House, you’ll certainly have a lot more opportunity politically, and I know that you’ll do extremely well. You were always the tenacious one.” Thomas replied, chuckling briefly before he continued.

“So have you decided if you’ll be running in the 2nd District or somewhere else?”

“I was considering either the 6th or the 2nd. I suppose whichever one has an incumbent more willing to leave his seat. Although I suppose it shouldn’t be too hard for the House Republican Leader to convince a Congressman to “give up” his seat.” Sadie smiled.

“In terms of the 6th, Congresswoman Seidel is retiring from the House this cycle to run for Governor so it’s unlikely that the incumbent is unlikely to retire. That being said, I’m sure (Not-Ann Wagner) would be willing to retire from the 2nd, or, if you wanted to run in a more secure district, (Not-Blaine Luetkemeyer) in the 3rd could be persuaded to not run for re-election.”

Having his own plane wasn't something Richardson wanted to do. He came from a fiscally conservative background, he refused to let the campaign run in the red and something 'luxurious' like a personal campaign plane wasn't in his mind a justified expense. What it came down to was time and money, at the end of the day having a dedicated plane was worth the investment overall saving time and money. That being said it was the cheapest one they could find, and had nothing extra or comfortable in it.

"We have a massive fundraising advantage... that tech bill, the utter lack of courting activists, and going without a superpac has hurt dayton quite a bit. She's no (Not Bernie) or (Not Obama) and your not as threatening to people at Wolf... I don't see the money edge dulling... We can afford a broad campaign" His campaign finance director Joe Yates delivered the point for the 800th time since the campaign started, Richardson had kept him on from the primary as his connections and financial wizardry gave Richardson a massive money advantage in the primary, and now the general, he was the reason Richardson could get around not having a SuperPac. But at the same time he thought money was everything in a campaign.

"Joe I get that... I'd love to win all 50 states but its not going to happen... as good as we are doing in Colorado I'm at a point where I need to make a decision about what kind of campaign i'm going to run... and at the end of the day Colorado and doesn't want what the other swings want. And at the RNC I need to move in the direction that gives me the best chance of getting elected... which will likely cost me in Colorado. Its time to pull out... Keep enough money to help Clint out and then send the rest of our resources to Nevada."

Hypolite Gaspard
August 5th, 2020

Hypolite Gaspard needed to relax, he sat outside on his porch. He sat on his swing and played his accordion. He played the Lovebridge Waltz, he played Hicks Wagon Wheel Special, and he played the Creole Stomp. He enjoyed his rest time, but more so, he enjoyed his time working. He had been putting it off and putting it off and putting it off some more, but he realized that it wasn't a good idea to put off something that could possibly determine his future.

Slowly, he scrolled down his contacts list on his phone and found, Nathaneel Richerdson. Spelling mistakes were common on this iPhone, but nevertheless, Hypolite called the number and awaited Richardson's voice to answer.

Mayor Harold Baines is a qualified candidate, and I'd again like to give him my support. Crawford Clay isn't qualified to run a state and I'd like to remind my fellow Texans that we are in times where we need good, stable, qualified leadership. Mr. Clay just isn't what we need right now.

"Senator Gaspard... I'm surprised to hear from you." Richardson said over the phone as he closed a door behind him for the private call "To what do i owe the pleasure?"

As the week slowly moved towards its conclusion, it was once again time for another of the House Minority Leader’s press conferences. With no particular statement to make on the week’s events, the press was soon able to begin asking their questions.

“Do you believe the Democratic Party cares about police reform?”

"Senator Gaspard... I'm surprised to hear from you." Richardson said over the phone as he closed a door behind him for the private call "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Well," Hypolite replied as he scratched his head, "I wanted to personally, extend an apology to you. Now, I know you probably don't want to accept that, and I can understand it now. I can understand why you may hate my bones, hate the land I stand on, and the air I breathe. You've got to understand, I," Hypolite sighed, a once strong-willed, hard-headed old man, turning into a broken and shallow being,

"I didn't mean no harm. You've got to believe that. Bernie... Bernard had his issues, but you've got to believe that they weren't as visible then as they were now. Sure, I may be gullible, I may have made a deal with the devil, but you've got to believe I didn't have any ill intentions. I was confused, I was scared, and I was damned sorry when that maniac pulled that shit in Georgia. I was in Georgia for my niece's wedding, and I was even thinking about posting bail for Cassius. I had been wanting to see him again, but I didn't want to step on toes. I'm not going to end my campaign, even though you just about vowed to hang me by my toes," Hypolite chuckled,

"My numbers are going down, temporarily, I've been assured that it's likely just temporary, and I could possibly be back on top. I just wanted to see if there was any way, whatsoever, that you could possibly hop on my train. I'll be back on top, and I just want the people of Louisiana to know that we're on the same side, fighting for them. Plus, I think it'd be good for your campaign as well if you made a stop down here. Don't want folks to think they're being neglected you know?" Hypolite sighed, hopefully.
