Please notice my second character, Lady Siwan Elspeth Lehr, I have described her as perhaps the "Most Beautiful Girl in the Empire".
She is there to provide a reason to fight over her.
If Emperor Brandon likes her, he might upset Dayvith and Talia by proposing and taking her sons out of the front of the SUCCESSION.
If some other noble fancies her, then they may have to deal with Dayvith.
Either way, we can have some good old intrigue.

What makes you think Talia would oppose the emperor marrying?

Dayfith might not want the job, but he might consider it his duty, in the right circumstances....
Also, Talia might not have the Emperor's ear so much if he has a wife, but maybe Talia can influence the new Empress....

I imagine that Vexia (in keeping with just about all pre-modern monarchies) doesn't have a clearly written succession law hence why I made an argument about Talia attempting to influence court opinion in favor of her sons. Not sure if Zelphos actually accepted that though. But if we assume that Vexia has "English" succession laws forbidding a woman from claiming the throne but allowing a woman to pass on a claim to her sons then Dayfith is only fourth. Talia's two sons are first and second in line and then Krugmar's grand duke Sylas Sil Imris Vixis (Dayfith's mother's brother) is third.
As for Talia opposing a marriage I hate to say it but in a fourteen year old countess from a vassal kingdom she would never acknowledge a rival. If she opposes such a marriage it will not be because she fears it will reduce her own influence but rather because she would consider Lady Siwan too humble a spouse for a Vixis emperor.
In the previous incantation of this RP when that happened I actually toyed with the idea of starting a similar RP where my characters (who were essentially the same as in this RP) would get embroiled in a succession crisis trying to put their eldest son on the throne.

Krugmar wrote:That would be an interesting twist, though unfortunately (fortunately?) he loves Jakar's memory and his family too much to betray them like that. Can't say he won't lock anybody in towers or drown someone in a barrel of wine though .
Also poor Dayfith will probably be moving lower down the line of succession, as I'm still working on Sylas' family, and probably a new foreigner character. At this point he has two sons, and several daughters, which would move Dayfith down to spot 6.
That said Sylas is a royal bastard, and the rules of succession aren't clearly laid down, so it's all a bit more fluid once it passes Talia's sons.
