The Grand Duchy Of Nova Capile wrote:Senator Buster Bunker
Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C.
The stress of the economic crisis, the riposting relief bills ricocheting between the parties, and the presidential nomination had come down on Buster's shoulders like a sack of bricks. A day-long mini-vacation had seemed justified, allowing the Californian to clear his head. He spent the morning at his D.C. pad training along to CrossFit videos, unleashing some of his frustration and energy in a healthy way, and then enjoyed a day in with his husband, before an hour-long meditation session prior to bed. The next morning, he awoke feeling vivified and calm.
But a legion of Twitter notifications and a summons to Rafael Navarro's office brought the crushing weight back to his shoulders just as quickly.
Buster took deep, calming breaths as he strolled into the foyer, executing one-by-one the well-practiced anxiety prevention routines he knew. Raph had been a friend to him even before he set foot on Capitol Hill, and though he was sure his colleague would never raise his voice against him, he knew that this meeting was not to exchange good news. The secretary ushered him to Raph's office in short order, and Buster managed a friendly, if fleeting, smile as he came in.
"H— Hey, Raph," he greeted sheepishly, lifting the biodegradable bag slightly higher to show his friend. The delicious and hearty scent of fresh chimichangas filled the room as Buster set their lunch on the desk, falling into the chair opposite.

"Well, that's, that's wonderful," Jason said with a sigh, "I appreciate it a lot. The people will appreciate keeping a real conservative in the seat instead of a rabid Porterite. Thank you, Mrs. Wolf. Have a good day. I'm always here if you need me for anything."
After Eliza hung up, Jason headed to the Senate offices and knocked on the door of Everitt Colbert.

Barry Anderson @MissouriSen0220 WOW! Everett Colbert openly insults the President's bestson!!! Shows how much he cares for the Wolf agenda!!!!! Reminds me of (not Ted Cruz), infamous RINO (whose dad may or may not have been involved in the assassination of JFK in 1963 - a very good man!) who insulted Wolf repeatedly during the primaries! Sad!!!! |

Although it was generally unlikely that the Wolf cubs would generally have any reason to call his office, at least before the President’s diagnosis, Thomas had made sure that any of their calls would be connected straight through to him.
"Good to speak to you, Minority Leader." He scratched the back of his head. "Things are going pretty swimmingly on our end. We're essentially a lock for the seat at this point. Just have to keep up the momentum until November."
"Listen, I have to talk to you about some of the comments made by a Representative or two in your caucus regarding the uh... conspiracies my brother is peddling."

Jason Evander's a good man in Congress with a firm hand on tradition and an eye on the future. I hope he continues to do well and goes far! He deserves it more than some of the skeletons holding the Party back.

“I’m honored Grover, I am really honored. I’m definitely qualified, and you’re right, I tell it like it is. But listen, Grover, I can’t accept this right now. Not when I’m on the cusp of blowing the lid off of the whole globalist operation. I can’t be in public too much... my security advisors have told me it’s risky. In fact, I’m wearing Kevlar right now. I can’t be in public too much, it’s dangerous. Thank you, Grover, for your trust. I put my trust in you also. You will be a great President.”

Although he was surprised to be addressed by his Christian name, Buster chose to take it as a token of sincerity.Gordano and Lysandus wrote:"Dwight, are you alright?" Rafael had hardly asked the other to speak to him to remonstrate him in any way. He considered his fellow Californian to be a good friend and in many ways under his protection, so to see him struggling always hurt. Still, he accepted the lunch and went to open up his wrapper, humming softly after he took a bite. "They're good, but they always get the crema wrong."

Clay crossed the fingers of his right hand for good luck. The Grand Duchy Of Nova Capile wrote:Bernie's tone brought a smile to his face as he remembered fishing in the frigid lake in Illinois... The corners of his mouth slowly turned downward as his thoughts turned to the choice he had to make.Emazia wrote:And after ending his conversation with Richardson, Porter picked up the phone.
"Hello, Crawford." Porter, despite being much younger than many of his colleagues, had a very fatherly voice. He clearly had a sense of love for Congressman Clay, like a father with his son. It was clear, from his almost affective and familial voice, that he was a man who knew he was going to die without a family, and so had begun to treat his friends and allies like one. "What can I do for you?"
"Well... Bernie, I'm askin' for your blessing." Honesty was the best policy. "Your blessing to endorse Nate Richardson." Clay left it at that; to expound any further would only cheapen the sincerity and the pain of his words.

"No," he admitted, allowing his long limbs to dangle akimbo from the chair and tilting his head back to face the ceiling. "The meetings, the caucuses, the crises, the arguing... And now it seems like everyone's mad at Levi. And me, by extension." Buster sprang forward in his chair, whipping out his phone and showing Raph the lock screen. The picture of Gabriel, Buster's husband, was obscured by an endless list of unopened notifications. "I just can't bring myself to open anything," Buster explained, now rocking slightly back and forth. He looked at the senior Senator hopefully. "I was hoping... hoping you could explain it to me." And calm me down.

Raph's voice began to soothe Buster— but the accusations leveled against Levi Murphy made him recoil.Gordano and Lysandus wrote:Raph felt deeply for Buster. The struggles that the other had overcome for his career - homophobia, his stutter, his anxiety - were considerable, and yet the other persevered. It was for this reason, he considered, that he took the other so closely under his wing, treating him in an almost son-like fashion. Leaning forward with a frown, he ate a little more of his chimichanga before he spoke. "It's not your fault. No one's blaming you. But Levi Murphy... It's the latest in a long line of toxic and ugly behaviors. Kathleen Nez withdrew her endorsement after he continued to take her for granted and then signed up for the Republican relief bill, and then he launched an ugly, racist, sexist diatribe at her on Twitter."

"What?" was all the Ojai native could manage. The Levi Murphy he knew from the Senate did not backstab the American people just to stick the finger to the party. The Levi Murphy he endorsed did not snub his supporters. The Levi Murphy he had campaigned for with his heart and soul in Atlanta did not spew racist vitriol on Twitter.
"Th— th— there has to be a m— mistake," Buster said disbelievingly, gaze falling to his untouched lunch, shaking his head slightly. "His account must have been hacked." His gaze snapped back to Raph, a shred of dying hope in his eyes.

"I'll have to make some sort of statement on it, for sure, and have a very long talk with Wallace."
He thought of a response, "Dad's doing about as well as he has been... Pardon my language, but this shit hurts, you know? I'm sometimes sitting here asking 'why, God?'. I know he has a plan for him, and I know he'll be in a better place in the end, but I watched him work so hard to get to the point he got, I was rooting for him every step of the way, then he finally achieves it, and then this all happens."
"I'm rambling a bit, sorry." He sighed.
