Erosen's about giving people chances, because he understands they make mistakes, but his opinion of Alexei has basically dropped to believing him a simple-minded man. Avoid contact with at all costs and keep scarce. Not a difficult thing for the Darkling to do given his experience so far.

Cast of the Black Beast: mostly happy teenagers who all get along for the most part, having a fun time.
Cast of the White Rose: mostly moody broken grownups all on the verge of murdering each other. :P

Lol, I know right? Sometimes I get the impression that Tristan and Lisoette are a little bit out of place :P

Growing up can be rough sometimes. :p

Don't worry, their arcs should trend more positively over the course of the story.

"With a firm nod to almost everyone present - he made a point of skipping Timur and Ivan - Tristan tucked his enchanted glaive back in his trunk and made his way away from the church, walking in the direction he had seen Katya and Lisoette head in."

I missed this the first time, but I love little details like these. Also Ameri if you don't feel like reading the giant wall of flashback, the part that involves Eric is towards the bottom.

Weird thought, but I just realized that three of the four major posters in the thread are currently online... Character development time?

If only Tristan was in a better spot for interaction.

Although I suppose if Erosen comes across him and the girls that scene can go on a bit longer while we wait on Const.

Yeah, we never specified that he went back to the square where the fight took place. We could certainly drag that out!

You're welcome. It's cool to read about Alexei's past. Though I wouldn't mind some flashbacks about our glorious protagonist :P

I'd do flashbacks, but I'm pretty sure 90% of Eric's flashbacks would violate the PG-13 rule this site has.

That's why Eric has an Angelle around, to conveniently censor him when he'd do something inconvenient to the forum rules like that.

They're actually really cool, so I'm shamelessly going to start including more whenever I'm writing out pieces of Erosen's story. He's got about three years of character development to go through over the course of this chapter, nevermind the additional character development he's going through in the chapter.

Also, post amended to make it development-friendly.

So magic works more along the lines of having the attunement already as a part one of one's lineage in most cases.

Thought we could get a decent plot roll going.

That's my bad. Been doing other stuff.

I'll try to get something short up tonight to keep the ball rolling, assuming Laz doesn't beat me to the punch.

EDIT: There we go, something to pass the torch to someone else, at least :P

Today was a momentous day for me. I took the Defense Language Aptitude Battery, a test the DoD gives to see if one is good enough at learning new languages to be trained as a linguist, and if so how complicated a language one can handle. Not only did I pass, but I scored high enough to qualify for learning any of the languages!

Now that I don't have that to study for I'll be able to get the update done.

Whatcha get for your score? I'll be impressed if it's higher than mine, mostly because that'll mean you're a linguistic cookie. Also, what's your MOS you want to go into?

I got a whopping 117. I'm going for cryptologic language analyst, probably the ground-based version.
