I find it debatable if a mere peasant of the time even knew what Mary Magdalene was so imagine Diederich (when his app is finished and accpeted) basically being a big question mark.

The Church was the centre of every community, and the priest was an important figure, so I imagine that the general peasant knew more about the Christian stories than the general population does today.
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

It's very debatable.

Church attendance appears to be much lower than one assumes. On top of that the peasants are illiterate and can't read the bible and the priests use a foreign language. Friggin hell, we still have a risk of legit priests unknowingly preaching straight up heresy because they accidentally misread their bibles. On top of that a lot of the priests weren't exactly saints but men with rather human urges. The church did start cracking down and making sure that the peasantry is more in touch with the church but I think that starts sometim in the early 13th century.

I'm sure the priest is an important figure just as I am sure that many a peasant fervently believed in god. I'm less sure that the peasant really knows biblical stories.

You're right that obscure church stories probably wouldn't be well known, but the Apostles and Saints were incredibly important to Catholic tradition in medieval times, and Mary Magdalene was the Apostle to the Apostle. Considering there were widespread inaccurate myths about her being a former prostitute, and confusing her with other biblical characters in the same vein, I think she'd be one of the more-often told of, especially considering she is a witness to the empty tomb and resurrection of Jesus.

As far as Bartautas goes, he probably believes everything told to him about Jews, since he had probably never met one before working with Alberic. Constantinos probably had his ear a lil too much.

Would he then believe Elouanat’s frequent saying “The Old Testament is just the Tanakh but in Latin.”

Blurbs are updated. Sound off if your app is still a WIP. I'm going to get started on the plot notes and IC today, though the latter won't be up for a few days yet. So if you're still working, you have time, but I need to know where you're at.
For really, I think that the poorest he that is in England hath a life to live as the greatest he. And therefore truly, Sir, I think it's clear that every man that is to live under a Government ought first by his own consent to put himself under that Government. And I do think that the poorest man in England is not at all bound in a strict sense to that Government that he hath not had a voice to put himself under.

About to go and write the bio out. After that just a few more aesthetic touches to bring it in line with other apps.

I'm trying to figure out what my character would have gotten up to in between helping Alberic escape from his village of faerie worshippers and joining him for his quest at Rome. I've been trying to figure out how he might stay more inland to maintain his marsh guide expertise.

I need to put down backstory on paper, but I'm almost good to go. Been recovering from a nasty bout of the flu the last couple of days.

Waiting on Const, Laz, and Rud to finish up while I do plot notes. We'll start in the Italian foothills of the Alps, entering the Val d'Aosta.

If I'm holding up the process, y'all can feel totally free to start without me. I don't want to be a roadblock. If need be, my character can just be on a scouting mission or something in the intro.

I'm trying my darndest to finish up the app now, but you guys know how weighty my apps are.

IC is going up this weekend, and apps will remain open for a short while thereafter for people to finish. We'll start trying to get across a pass over the Val d'Aosta, having left Rome about a month earlier, and now being a little later in the season than is ideal.

Right. I got derailed last weekend, but I genuinely do intend to get the IC up this weekend. Sound off if you are still aboard.
