TBH I think the reason why Discords are more active than OOC threads now has to do with ease of use, and the ability to chat and goof off without breaking rules or having mod oversight. There's no need to worry about being on-topic or breaking any other rules, and various conversations can be carried out in different channels at once, making communication overall much easier.

That said, keeping an OOC thread at least regularly updated is important, and I still use OOC's to ask about plot threads and IC actions if I'm unsure or haven't been on in a few days, and it's easier to ask a question in the OOC and come back later if I'm busy, or if nobody is on Discord.

These two threads really helped me out when I started to OP. a nicely done up thread really does help attract players, it's a sign of effort and time put in a d helps to make the informational navigable. I'd also suggest downloading Inkscape, it's a free vector image programme. It allows you to make banners which again are mostly for presentation and just to show a level of effort put into everything. It doesnt have to be much, the banner I made for my current RP is just the title of a transparent background.

Aside from that the rest is just you explaining your RP and selling it to others.

Guess I'm gonna just sit back and wait for the impossible to happen and someone to post an RP that's appealing to me then. To much effort involved for something that 8/10 times is doomed to failure anyway.

A military RP finally pops up but you gotta play as the Nazis. I know it's Wehrmacht and not SS but the "clean Wehrmacht" is nothing but a myth.

I have a military rp you can join! ‘S called Cannon and Canon, if you are up for it.

And, in the German one, you will play as the bad guy. That can be really interesting.

18th century isn't really my thing. Before WWI is where things start to get pretty meh for me to be quite honest.

As for playing as the bad guy, it's not something I mind, I'm just personally biased against anything to do with Nazi Germany. If it was the Soviets I wouldn't have a problem, even knowing that they were nearly as bad as the Nazis.

You probably would too if no matter how much you wanted to participate in p2tm RP there was absolutely nothing that was of interest to you. Maybe that's my cue to leave and just focus on the region my NS nation is in for my RP needs.

When I don't find anything of interest to me I usually start and RP of my own that I am interested in partaking in.

But suggesting you do that isn't going to be received positively by you as you seem easily discouraged by failure.

I've started a few RPs that had no interest but I was interested in hosting (why else would I start one). For example; The Animals of Rikhman. NO one joined.

Or TEch Tek Techknicle.

But I continued to put out more Gamma World RPs until another caught on. If you want to take part in a specific setting, genre, or situation in an RP (and are unable to find any of those that interest you) you just have to cast out a line and hope for a catch- bait the fish if you must by advertising on the Advertisement thread- I know I tend to go their first when it gets a new post. As those posting on it really are looking for players. It's also easier then sorting through an ever updating forum list.

Scheiße! I've always been interested in a BoB kind of RP from the German perspective (I've been in a Soviet one that died), and now that it happens, I can't dedicate myself to it due to rl stuff. Got the name or link, so I can check it out?
