On today February 27, 2017, President Reed signed several executive orders. The following is my formal position on a number of those.

I strongly oppose the repeal by President Reed of Executive Order 13672, which bans discrimination against LGBTQ individuals by the federal government. While an argument can certainly be made regarding private institutions having religious objections to the hiring of LGBTQ individuals, the hiring of LGTBQ individuals should be protected under civil rights legislation and the federal government should not make hiring decisions based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

I fully support the President at his executive order regarding domestic surveillance and protecting the rights of Americans. His action regarding the National Domestic Defense Council is also a positive step, although I would encourage him to replace the council with a more effective organization that respects the rights of individuals.

The federal hiring freeze is an excellent start to creating a leaner and more efficient federal government. We must fully audit and assess the federal government and all its programs, cutting the inefficient ones so that the programs which actually benefit Americans can be given more support.

Ella rushes up the steps leading to the Capitol Building wrapped in her coat with a loose floral print dress underneath as she is running late for the day's session. She missed the last day there completely as she could barely get out of bed the day before except to shuffle over to the bathroom to vomit down the toilet with the nausea she had been feeling. She doubts that anyone noticed that she was missing but still does not feel caught up on everything as she returns today. She still has the sting of the failed minimum wage bill and the betrayal on that lingering for her and adding to her mood that is much more depressive than usual for her and because of feeling ill much more often in the last few days before the very awful day of yesterday she had not gotten anywhere on the other bill that she had been trying to write.

Before she came up to the Senate building which was a small reason why she was running late Ella had stopped at the post office to put a letter she had personally made in the mail. The letter was a condolences one sent to the White House. She had heard about the shooting in Dillon and the President losing his father and while she knows she has never and can never personally know what that feels like she is sure it must have been an awful thing for the President. She still feels kindly towards him after he offered her the job in the Cabinet when she first came to Washington even though Senator Alphonsey did not let her take it and hopes that he is doing all right.

She did come up with another idea on something to work on as a bill and brings along her pens and paper inside her purse to make sure she can work on it during the session and maybe be successful in passing her first bill. She waves at one of the guards as she goes to put away her coat scarf and gloves and then goes up to the chamber entrance.

Ending the Winstoncare mandate to provide abortifacients and fighting back against government discrimination against religious organizations are great steps for a pro-life and pro-liberty government. The government using the threat of prison to try to force nuns into providing abortion pills was a despicable act that should never be repeated.
