What dollar bill you get placed on is inversely proportional to awesomeness.

Obviously.

The two dollar bill is rare, so that makes him quite cool to have. :ugeek:

Thomas Jefferson was the man and is definitely one of my personal super heros, but it's hard to put him into the modern categories of "Liberal" or "Conservative". The world was completely different 200+ years ago. When comparing him to other leaders in the world at the time, Napoleon for example, T.J. was a very a light handed leader with a similar administration. The Barbary Pirate Wars were actually a very quiet affirmation of the USA's power. Most European Nations at the time, considered the pirates a real threat often well worth the "Protection Money" they demanded. Then the new upstart nation of America rolls in kicks ass and takes names and negotiates a favorable deal with the Pasha of Tripoli. All the while, T.J.s battle cry; "Millions in charity, but not a penny in tribute!"

T.J. was also flexible in his use of federal power. He did not want the federal Gov. to have alot of power. He was adamant that he not abuse his power as executive, but fate tossed our old boy a curve ball. Napoleon was going broke fighting in Europe. He needed to sell something and quick, but he didn't have many friends, being at war with almost all of western civilization and all. So Napoleon calls up T.J. and offers him the Louisiana Territory for a steal of deal. Jefferson was a Champion of Democracy, but was also a shrewd business man and saw an opportunity to double the size of his nation for a small fee he jumped on it and then apologized for abusing his power. A real class act!

You guys should check out the Jefferson Hour. You'll probably like it.

You can tell a lot about a man's intentions from his stare.
