The political compass itself is a huge fuckin joke.

Like yeah I'll admit I do put my poltical cumpiss results in my OOC factbook but I also specifically state that I don't take it seriously at all. (Granted I don't take most political test results that seriously but something about the cumpiss makes some weirdos online take it super seriously, maybe because it's babby's first political test or something?)

I mean shit I remember one time years back on another forum I used to post on there was a thread about posting your political compass results and I literally ended up off the fuckin chart.

Now look, we all know I'm left-wing and all but I'm not that goddamn left-wing.

That ain't saying shit about what they actually believe in, or what their views truly are. Not everything is a plot point on some obscure chart that's more akin to a horoscope than an actual thing for gauging one's views.

no no you see my leader has to be in this specific point of this political compass that is based on pretty much nothing I tell you what the fuck do you mean that the polcomp is useless for actually telling me things???

On another note, how about the classic "agrees, neutral, disagrees" trio that you tend to see on a lot of characters? I think that's useless as well (even if marginally less so than the polcomp solution), simply because it tries to simplify a person's political views to a mere trio of absolutes. I will say this: there's a good reason most iconic characters don't tend to do this by itself (and the ones that do are not exactly the kinds of people to have nuanced political views in the first place - and this is one of the few cases where I'd say that the trio is helpful).

I also agree on that. When I write up a leader or a character I'd rather say this-

"[Character] believes that the military shall be the most important, first and foremost, with added support for welfare as well as law enforcement. Under their beliefs, religion has received zero support from the gov't, supporting their idea of separation of the church and state. However, they also agree that a direct democracy is a far superior system to a representative one, while allowing for a free market with little gov't meddling, beyond minimum wage laws and basic protections for workers to increase the quality of life and productivity."

Can someone explain why people bump F7 threads? Especially the ones that are just silly game threads. Like if you have enough time to post 'bump', you have enough time to post an actual response to the thread.

I can't explain why in the silly game threads, but I can explain why people do bumps in the effort threads: to try and get activity back on them. This might not make sense at first glance (as you've said: why not post an actual reply?), but it does make more sense in this one case: the person bumping is the one who last posted a reply. Granted, the style of bumping depends on the person: some prefer to do a classic /bumpskip, while others go as far as to completely repost their last post.

Usually, if a thread finds itself on the last few pages of F7, I like to take my time trying to come up with a response for the nation above me since I basically have all the time in the world to write a good response, there's probably little risk of being ninja'd and dashing up my hard work. Course, might do a /bump if I cannot come up with anything or don't have time for it but need it to have more activity going about it.

Sometimes I'm just not interested in the topic but want to preserve it for others. Or, sometimes, I'm the last poster or the poster before (or even the poster before that in case of the "two ANs" games) and I don't want to repeat-post or doublepost, so I just /bump or /bumpskip it.

Y'all know you can just like...delete your last post and repost it if you were the last poster, right?

(Also let's be real here: only weirdos actually care if you 'double-post' in an F7 thread tbh)

More of a writing cliché, but i just want to see a nonmagical world with fantasy creatures, is this too much to ask, or is it impossible to do?

Cliche: tagging, I've no idea why it exists and it seems so pointless and spammy that even mods clamp down on it

Like come on, at least when you bump a thread you push it back to the top of the page, just bookmark the page if you wanna remember it or something

I’ve only ever really bumped RPs cause it feels bad to put effort into making a nice OP premise and the thread getting buried/ignored by the 50th diyaristani civil war

I can see that being a cliche for some nations, and originally I wasn't even sure what kind of government I would get until it said Psychotic Dictatorship for mine, so I've had to adjust my leader a bit because of that, although I still need to add more detail to my leader page, format it and all.

In other news, I also still think I'm still a summie, but I'm trying to be more detailed in posts/factbooks and such, but I've been having some probs irl so I'm spending less time here

In my opinion, "summie" is a label not to be given lightly.

most of the people tagged as summies lately have been around for many years, hence not really summies

It gets annoying when it's used in the sense of "everyone who doesn't post like I do is a summie."
